Foreward
In September 1967, my father Carmine D’Onofrio opened the family shoe import business in earnest with the signature location on Vancouver’s Commercial Drive, the focal point of the city’s Italian community. With an unwavering dedication to quality, value and service, Kalena’s Shoes thrived. Over the years, many in the Italian community voiced their opinion that with the containers of shoes already coming over from Italy, perhaps the family busi-ness should expand to include wines from the homeland. After all, the selection of Italian wines in the market at the time did leave room for improvement. In 1991, Stile Wines was born. The name ‘Stile’ ―pronounced ‘Stee-lay’ in Italian‖, corresponding to its English counterpart ‘style’, was chosen not only to represent the stylish wines that became part of the portfolio, but also to reflect the culture of incorporating wine stylishly as part of enjoying life to the fullest. Over time, the list of highly regarded Italian producers working with Stile grew, to the ex-tent that Stile Wines became synonymous with Italian wine. To this day, we are proud to say that we offer one of the very finest portfolios of Italian wine in Canada. Along the way, we have strived to add products from reputable producers from all over the world, always keeping in mind our goal of offering the absolute best possible quality and value. While we will undoubtedly always be viewed as an Italian specialist, we can now lay claim to being a truly diversified, international importer. My father passed away in 2005, but his spirit remains very much alive in all that we do. We are happy to know that the fine products that we bring to this special part of the world have brought joy and a real appreciation for the finer things in life to so many. With this in mind, we invite you to peruse the latest catalogue of fine offerings from our agency. Grazie e buon santé,
Carmen D’Onofrio Jr. Managing Director

Useful Ordering Information
Please bear in mind the following information when it comes to ordering product through the BCLDB: Order product using the CSPC sku number, and specify your order in terms of the number of bottles (rather than cases) of a particular product, being specific that the units are bottles, so that there is no confusion about quantity. Order at the local government liquor store (GLS) that you have been set up to order through, or through Store 100, which is the Wholesale Customer Service Centre. This can be reached as follows: Telephone: (604) 775-0681 Fax: (604) 252-3470 If the GLS sales associate indicates that there is zero stock, or no stock available, then ask them to click on their next screen page for the Container World warehouse inventory. Please note that ALL spec/restricted listings will show on the first screen as out of stock, or no stock available at the BCLDB warehouse, because it is a listing that is not usually warehoused by the BCLDB. It is only ordered as per client request. If the BCLDB sales associate informs you that there still is no stock, please contact your Stile sales representative to investigate further. The BCLDB will give you an order/invoice number with every order. Please keep this handy in case there are any difficulties with the order, as it will help us to assist. Products that are general or specialty listed should be available within two business days (or possibly immedi-ately, if ordering through a GLS location that stocks it regularly). Products that are spec/restricted listed should be available within 7—10 business days. If these products have not arrived over this time, please contact your Stile representative to investigate further. It is important to keep your Stile representative abreast of any difficulties that arise with or-dering, as we are happy to assist and manage these through. It may alert us to a problem in the order process that we would otherwise not be aware of. Your diligence is very much ap-preciated.

CLARE VALLEY, AUSTRALIA
PIKES
Englishman Henry Pike immigrated to South Australia in 1878, settling in the Ade-laide Hills. In 1886, he established the family brewing business called H. Pike & Co. This name became well known throughout South Australia for its quality beer, soft drink and tonic ale. The company used the English Pike fish on its labels, which re-mains to this day—a symbol of Pikes’ long heritage.
Henry Pike’s great grandson Edgar was well established in the wine industry, and his sons Andrew and Neil both followed in their father’s footsteps, establishing Pikes in 1984 in the beautiful Clare Valley. The winery is situated in the historic, picturesque Polish Hill River sub-region on the eastern side of the valley. The climate in this area is cooler and the soils are quite unique to the rest of the region, attributes that im-part distinctive flavours and aromas to the wines.
Though they produce a number of varietals, Riesling has become the flagship for which Pikes is best known. The winery has consistently met its goals of producing absolute top quality varietal wines—worthy of the longstanding distinctive fish logo that is still found on all Pikes wines.

PATAGONIA, ARGENTINA
At 39.2 degrees South, in Argentine Patagonia, wines coming from one of the world's most southern regions are made. This is the High Valley of the Río Negro, whose special climate, with very cold nights and intensely sunny days, is ideal for the development of fine grape varieties. The province of Río Negro is located in the northern part of Patagonia. The Negro River, with origins in the Andes Mountains, flows across Patagonia and into the Atlantic Ocean. Along its course, it gives birth to fertile valleys that are a real oasis in the middle of these wasted lands. In 1909, the Humberto Canale Winery was founded by the engineer who gave it his name. He played an important role in the development of the Upper Valley’s industry of small, individual wineries. His professional know-how promoted investigation and creativity, thus allowing the world to see that the region possessed a special terroir that gave birth to different, very characteristic, and undeniably excellent wines.

Two Hands is one of Australia’s most decorated wineries, making its most sought after wines. The ‘two hands’ are Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz, who formed the com-pany in 1999 with the clear objective of making the best possible Shiraz wines from prized Shiraz producing regions within Australia.
Michael Twelftree’s background included years of exporting Australian wine to USA and Asia, while Richard Mintz was a former CEO of one of Australia’s leading cooperages in the Barossa Valley. The two old friends set out in 2000 with just 17 tonnes of fruit from the McLaren Vale and Padthaway wine regions. From the start, the wines were well received with a healthy stream of reviews, culminating with Robert Parker’s 2::4 declaration of Two Hands as ‘the finest negociant operation south of the equator’.
Two Hands concentrates its efforts on sourcing the best fruit from the best Shiraz vine-yards in Australia, working with its growers on achieving the full potential from each individual site. The results speak for themselves.

ANDREW PEACE
The business began as a vineyard in 1980, then became a full fledged winery in 1995. The first year grape intake of 3,000 tonnes has grown steadily each year to the 16,250 tonnes crushed in 2003, ranking it 17th in Australia. The winery is 14th largest based on export sales volume.
Designed and constructed by Andrew Peace, the winery has an emphasis on an even flow of must and juice, with minimal oxygen contact to ensure maximum quality and fruit flavour retention. Despite its size, Andrew Peace Wines remains a family opera-tion, with great care and attention paid to all facets of wine production. The results are consistent, robust wines with all of the character and flavour that wine lovers around the world have come to expect from vineyards Down Under. The new 1 litre Tetra Pak wines are a particularly exciting venture.

LIMARI VALLEY, CHILE
CASA TAMAYA
In the vineyards of Viña Casa Tamaya, located in the Limari Valley (400 km north of Santiago and only 20 km from the Pacific Ocean) were found vestiges of the ancient Diaguita culture, which reigned in this zone between the 8th and 15th centu-ries. Inspired by its culture, the winery was named after the highest peak above the Limarí Valley: Tamaya.
Blessed with an exceptional climate in a land of virgin soils free from contamination, Tamaya is strategically located in the foothills of the majestic Andes Mountains. There, the winery has succeeded in achieving a perfect equilibrium between the com-bination of its varietal grapes and the character of its land. It is this balance of privi-leged characteristics which bestows unparalleled quality upon each of the varieties of the grapes, which are then carefully harvested by hand.
This is the secret of how Tamaya brings to life the very finest, most innovative wines produced in the North of Chile.

MAIPO VALLEY, CHILE
In 1996, at an age when most people think of retiring, the three Canepa sisters, Gilda, Edda and Antonieta, responded to their passion for producing fine wines that had been part of their family’s life since the 193:’s, linking their well estab-lished vineyard holdings into a state-of-the art, brand new winery facility called TerraMater, a name that tells us a lot about the company itself. It was born from exceptional land, with vineyards full of noble grape varieties and well estab-lished vines of 40, 50 and 60 years old, not to mention marvelous olive groves with thick trunks and orchards of mainly apple trees.
TerraMater is now one of Chile’s best known medium size wineries. Huge in-vestments in the winery have given it an edge over many competitors. Its eco-nomical, easy drinking wines are frequent winners in international competitions.

CHATEAU DE CARAGUILHES (100% CERTIFIED ORGANIC)
Historically, the Corbières region has been connected with vinegrowers and the making of wine. By the 12th century, the Abbey of Fontfroide was taken over by the monks of the Cistercian Order, highly skilled vinegrowers who undertook to restore the art of the vine in the Corbieres, once started by the Phoenicians and furthered by the Romans.
So began the history of the domaine known as Caraguilhes. The famous chateau that one sees today was constructed in the early 17th century. The vines still grow in an ideal location known for its exceptional soil quality, with a mixture of clay and limestone. In 1935, the winery’s new owner became the only grower to refuse to use insecticides and weed killers or chemical fertilizers—well ahead of his time. Inspired by the same precision and philosophy, the same love of the soil and of authenticity, current owner Laurent Max continues this practice. Since 1990, the organic status of the wines of Caraguilhes are formally guaranteed by ECOCERT.

Situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees, surrounded by its vineyards, Domaine Gayda is a new destination in the Languedoc, 25 km south-west of Carcassonne, in the village of Brugairolles.
Known traditionally for its large area of vineyards producing volume table wines, things have changed rapidly in the Languedoc over the last ten years. The revolution of change is in full swing, and Domaine Gayda is in the centre of it. The Languedoc is blessed with many exciting ‘terroirs’, diverse in soil types, aspect and climate. This diversity is Gayda’s opportunity to not only grow grapes of outstanding quality in its own vineyards, but to work with partner growers throughout this beautiful, diverse region of France.
Domaine Gayda has a passion for the traditional ‘cepages’ grown across the many di-verse soils and climates of their vineyards. While the grapes are rooted in tradition, the winery itself is all about the ‘new’, with investments in state-of-the-art equipment and technology, with wines that are full and flavourful to appeal to today’s consumers.

CANTINA TOLLO *** WINNER GRAN VINITALY AWARD ***
ABRUZZO, ITALY
Abruzzo is a land where great wine has been made for many centuries. Writers and poets have sung its praise since the times of ancient Rome. Natural splen-dour thrives in Abruzzo, a region which stretches from the mountains to the sea, and the only in Europe to devote a third of its territory to nature reserves. In this paradise, Cantina Tollo was founded over 40 years ago with a passion for produc-ing quality wines that embody the culture of Abruzzo. The gentle breeze from the Adriatic creates a wonderfully mild climate over the hills of Cantina Tollo, as the perfect amount of rain and sun helps to produce their signature Montepulciano, Trebbiano and Cerasuolo wines.
Tollo is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life through a promise that they have always kept—that its wines tell a story, through aroma, emotion and memory.

PICHIERRI — VINICOLA SAVESE
The history of this firm is closely connected to the grandfather-figure Gaetano Pichierri, who farmed the fruitful vineyards of Primitivo. He refined his knowl-edge of winemaking in the wine growers' cooperatives of Sava, made famous by its oenologists Don Amerigo Mancini and Guido Calò. Right after the war, Gaetano guided the Pichierri family to start their own production of selected wines, leaving to his sons Cosimo, Vittorio, Roberto and Aldo the duty to continue the family’s great tradition. Picchierri’s famous Tradizione del Nonno Primitivo is an Amarone-style wine made by leaving the grapes to hang and raisinify on the vines, creating a rich, intense, raisinate red wine with a delightful slight residual sweetness. It is a wine for hearty dishes and must be tried to be believed.

CANTINE DEL COLLE
In 1961, a group of vine-growers created the cooperative called Cantina Sociale di Santeramo in Colle, Apulia, in order to have stability in the mar-ket. Throughout the years, the cooperative underwent a series of updating improvements, passing from simple mass production to the current pro-duction of high quality wines using state-of-the-art winemaking techniques and the careful selection of grapes brought in by the members. Recently the cooperative changed its name to Cantine Del Colle to strengthen the new productive and business organization. Feudi di San Gregorio, a symbol of today’s rebirth of fine wine from the south of Italy, is dedicated to the rediscovery of the unique flavours of the Mediterranean. The crusade began in the mid-8:’s with the idea of rewriting the history of winemaking in the Irpinia region. The central concept was to invest in a real future for the great wines of the South by upholding local traditions and developing their latent potential. In other words, to take a fresh look at Campania and her native grape varieties—Aglianico, Fiano, Greco and Falanghina. Over the last ten years, Feudi di San Gregorio has come to represent the growing reputation of the wines of Irpinia.
Ancient ties have been reinforced by a new interpretation of the potential of the south of Italy. The will and resources of two local families, united by a single passion, has breathed new life into this ancient land. These are modern wines with an ancient soul. They are authentic, while their traditional values are maintained through the use of modern technology, and impeccable quality standards.

COLLAVINI
In 1896, the Collavini family oenological history began, with founder Eugenio sup-plying wealthy Udinese families with his wines, without ever imagining that a cen-tury later, they would reach the world over.
In 1970, an innovative turn with sparkling wines took the winery to the peak of notoriety with Ribolla Gialla Brut, the result of careful research and an original method. During this decade, the winery acquired an old manor of the 16th cen-tury known as Corno di Rosazzo, to become the family’s residence and winery cellars. In 198:, Collavini’s operations were all combined in this prestigious manor, and Manlio, the present owner, invested heavily to enlarge production capabilities. In 1996 a comprehensive program was launched to ensure but-toned-down quality production at all levels, including loyalty agreements with local growers for careful grapes supervision, and upgrading of production equipment for soft pressing and temperature controlled vinification. Forward thinking has kept Collavini at the forefront of producers in the prestigious Friuli region.

DI MAJO NORANTE
Azienda Agricola Di Majo Norante is located to the north of the Gargano in Molise on the estate of the Marquees Norante of Santa Cristina. Since the 18::’s, its ancestors have dedicated themselves to vine cultivation (ancient wine cellars are located under the main town square and the old palace in Campomarino). In 1968, a modern canteen was constructed, along with the first replanted vines in the Ramitello zone. This zone has northeastern exposure, constant summer breezes, a light limestone soil, and a slope toward the Scabolone and Madonna Grande valleys, combining to create a very favorable grape growing environment.
Di Majo Norante uses only estate grown grapes, cultivated without the use of chemical or synthetic additives, yielding a product that can be considered “biological”. Passion and love for the grapes are combined with the most advanced technology in farming methods and production facilities.

In 1985, the efforts paid off with international recognition of the highest order. The 1978 vintage Barolo emerged as the best wine in the Forum Vinorum in London, with the only perfect score, and a ranking higher than 27 other Italian DOC and DOCG reds, and also 56 Châteaux, Grand Cru and Premier Cru producers, includ-ing such names as Petrus, Margaux, Latour, Lafite, Mouton Rothschild and Haut-Brion. SARDINIA, ITALY
ARGIOLAS
Argiolas has firmly established itself as one of the very top producers from Sardinia, the newest critics’ darling region of Italy. Sardinia has followed in the footsteps of Sicily in making a name for itself through producing fabulously aromatic wines from indigenous grape varietals— at very fair prices.
Argiolas’ history began in 1918, when Francesco Argiolas planted the first vineyard with the assistance of some returning Italian POWs. But it was Antonio Argiolas, whose great enthusiasm and experience in viticulture set the stage for greatness, buying new estates and setting up a modern farm. In the late 197:'s, Antonio’s sons Franco and Giuseppe reorganized the business in all aspects, from vineyards to cel-lars. They chose one of Italy's leading oenologists, Giacomo Tachis, who joined forces with oenologist Mariano Murru. Now three generations of the Argiolas family are together: patriarch Antonio (now 97 years old), his two sons and his grandchildren.

FIRRIATO
The Firriato winery near Trapani in the northwest of the island was founded in 1985 by the Di Gaetano family and is the personification of the "New Sicily". Starting with the 1994 vintage, scrupulously selected, ripe grapes from low-yielding, hillside vineyards have been vinified by a team of local and antipodean winemakers. The only aim was quality, using indigenous Sicilian and interna-tional grape varieties. Seven years with continuous growth, global distribution, and many medals and awards under their belt ―including ‘Best Italian Winery’ by Luca Maroni in 2007), Firriato truly is putting Sicily on the map!

FERRARI
“The history of a wine lies in the history of the soil that nourishes the vines.” In 1902, after several years studying winemaking and viticulture in France, Giulio Ferrari decided to challenge his French counterparts with his winemaking skills on his own land. In the process, he created a masterpiece. The leadership of Casa Ferrari was passed from the founder to the Lunelli family in 1952. The names have changed, but the enthusiasm has remained the same. A century of history and Ferrari is the best selling, most recognized and most celebrated Italian spumante in the world.

The history of Tenuta San Leonardo dates back at least 1500 years, with the return of prisoners from Trentino, who erected a chapel in honor of the patron saint of prisoners, Saint Leonard. Today, the ancient monastery hospice, which once gave shelter to the destitute, is now the cellar where the wines mature in barrels.
The estate has witnessed many historical events, including acting as headquarters in both world wars. Present owners the Guerrieri Gonzaga family have taken advan-tage of the specific terroir to create Bordeaux-inspired blended wines, under the guidance of master winemaker Carlo Ferrini and consultant winemaker Giacomo Tachis, who is considered to be a genuine maestro of Italian winemaking through his creation of some of Tuscany’s most influential wines from the 197:s onwards.
This talented pair ensures calculated ageing—at least 6 months in large format Sla-vonian oak, then 24 months in small French oak barrels—and masterful blending of each contributing varietal. This is followed by at least one year of bottle ageing. The results are consistently nothing short of spectacular.

PIANIROSSI The Pianirossi estate is a result of the vision and efforts of owner Stefano Sincini, originally a respected fashion entrepreneur, born and raised in the culture of wine. Sincini discovered the magnificent location just a stone’s throw away from Castello Banfi and the first slopes of Montalcino. He gathered a highly competent team, with consultation from acclaimed oenologists Carolo Ferrini and Gioia Cresti, and set about creating a wine unique to the terroir, deciding to bring from his native Marches the cuttings of Montepulciano to complement the traditional Tuscan San-giovese and the Alicante and Petit Verdot.
By slightly veering off the path of traditional Tuscan offerings, Pianirossi has estab-lished itself as a rising star of a new generation of Maremma estates.

MONTEVERTINE
Montevertine lies within the heart of the Chianti hills, in the community of Radda at an altitude of 425 m. Documents show that the site had been dwelled on since the 11th century. Traces of the original construction are still preserved.
In 1967, Sergio Manetti, at the time a steel product manufacturer, bought Mon-tevertine as a holiday house, and restored it to its original dwelling destination. He then planted two hectares of vines and set up a small cellar to produce some wine for friends and customers.
The first vintage produced in 1971 was more than decent, so Sergio presented it at Vinitaly in Verona. This was an immediate success and he was so enthused that only a few years later he gave up his main former activity to dedicate all his efforts to winemaking. New vineyards were planted, new cellars installed, and expansion has continued to this very day.
With Sergio’s passing in 2:::, management passed to his son Martino Manetti, who is assisted by Klaus Johann Reimitz and Bruno Bini, the latter be-ing born in Montevertine and an in-depth expert of the zone and the soil. Giulio Gambelli, the expert wine taster, is the consultant and offers his assistance dur-ing the production of the wines.

Sportoletti’s winery is located near Spello and Assisi, two ancient medieval towns in the region of Umbria in central Italy, about 55 miles north of Rome. Umbria, the hilliest region in Italy, is an extremely green and pristine area, where nature and history blend together. Winemaking traditions in this region reach back to the Etruscans and Romans, but as in Burgundy, grape growing and wine-making were developed and enriched by the monks during Medieval times.
The Sportoletti family has been in agriculture for generations and has always been dedicated to the production of fine wine in Umbria. Brothers Ernesto and Remo have followed their father Vittorio’s teachings on high quality productions. The family owns 50 acres of vineyards and produces four wines, two whites and two reds. Thanks to the impressive success of their wines, the overall production has soared to 200,000 bottles. Their Merlot, which is worth noting, is produced from old vines planted at Sportoletti more than 50 years ago. The soil’s richness, in conjunction with innovative methods of production, give Sportoletti’s wines their unique identity and make them among the best expres-sions of Umbrian winemaking. In 1998, the two Sportoletti brothers hired the highly esteemed and world renowned enologist Riccardo Cotarella, marking the start of a highly successful professional relationship.

Few lands identify themselves like Valdobbiadene so totally and directly with a completely special "drinking philosophy". Try, for example, tasting a glass of Prosecco - the most renowned "offspring" of these hills. You will feel that you have been projected into a world which you believed lost forever, where life still pro-ceeds at a liveable pace and where values remain unchanged: equilibrium and lightness, elegance and genuineness, delight in getting together and enjoying life. From Prosecco to Cartizze and many other straightforward, generous wines - the fascinating history of the vines and wines of Valdobbiadene has trodden a long path, but it has always been true to itself. You only need to travel along the Prosecco Road - the first enological route to have been created in Italy - to be aware of it all. In these places, the savours, nature, everything is still authentic and incomparable. It is in this land and with this singular tradition that an equally unique entrepreneurial story has become associated - that of the Mionetto family.

Originality, creativity and quality have elevated this winery to the next level. In 1992, Bottega diversified to create its Cantina dei Poeti sparkling wine line, which took Bottega in a new direction.
The Petalo Moscato is a stunning wine that amazingly captures the essence of the naturally sweet Moscato grapes from which it is made. It has an aroma of flowers and fruits, and balances crisp acidity with peach and rose flavours. It truly is ‘The Wine of Love’. Its counterpart, the Prosecco ‘IL Vino dei Poeti’ ―‘The Wine of Poets’‖, is fresh, crisp and elegant, with a delicate fragrance of acacia blossoms. It is dry, refined and well balanced, with a persistent effervescence. It is well worthy of the line in which it is found.
CA’ RUGATE
Ca’ Rugate, established by the Tessari family in 1986, takes its name from the volcanic hills where most of the vineyards are to be found. The Ca’ Rugate vine-yards cover 40 hectares, 30 of which are located within the commune of Mon-teforte d’Alpone in the rugged heart of Soave Classico, with 1: hectares in the commune of Montecchia di Crosara in nearby Valpolicella. Ca’ Rugate uses only indigenous grape varieties such as Garganega, and Trebbiano di Soave for white wines; and Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone for reds.
The Soave wines of Ca Rugate are unique, produced from 100% Garganega grapes, without blending in Trebbiano or other inexpensive grapes, as is done for most Soave wines. They also utilize single vineyard production, resulting in wines that are among the best of their kind, with full, fresh fruit and hints of almonds.

BRUNELLI Ever since it has existed, the name Brunelli has has been closely linked to the area of San Pietro in Cariano, a small valley in the Valpolicella Classico area whose name derives from that of the Roman Cariae family. It is in this spot in the countryside where the Brunelli family has handed down from generation to generation the an-cient passion which has made its wines known and appreciated all over the world. The estate is now in the hands of Luigi, the oenologist, and of his wife Luciana who, sharing Luigi’s expertise and passion, has created a special range of wines that dis-tinguishes itself for both the virile and the feminine values it expresses.
The character of a wine is the expression of its creator’s emotions. This is all the more true in the case of the wines from Brunelli estate. The Amarone Campo del Titari, with its forthright style that pulls no punches, is the very image of a deter-mined and enigmatic craftsman of the soil like Luigi Brunelli. Luiciana, on the other hand, is mirrored in the nuances of the gentle and graceful Amarone Campo Inferi, with its feminine traits and respect for tradition.

TEDESCHI Numerous generations of the Tedeschi family have dedicated love and devotion to viticulture in the Valpolicella, giving them an enviable wealth of experience, tradition, and nobility, all of which are used to achieve the highest level of quality.
According to old documents which have recently come to light, the first purchase of vineyards was drawn up in 1630. The descendents followed suit, bringing pres-tige, respect and esteem to the family, to the extent that they were called upon to carry out important political and religious duties.
In 1824, Nicolò Tedeschi purchased more vineyards, and with his skill and genuine personality, brought the family business many steps forward, to the extent that all successors would dedicate their lives to upholding the good name of the family and its wines. The most recent generation—Antonietta, Sabrina and Riccardo—work together to maintain the spirit of the Tedeschi family as upholders of the finest wines that The Veneto region can produce, and as purveyors of these wines to an attentive audience of buyers and consumers around the world.

CARPENE MALVOLTI
Over 140 years of history, embracing four generations of the family, testify to Car-penè Malvolti’s long heritage of product quality and the prestige image of the brand.
Convinced that a similar wine to champagne could be produced in Italy, Antonio Car-penè established Carpenè-Malvolti Winery in the Conegliano zone in the Veneto in 1868. He taught methods of cultivation to the local farmers, and co-founded the first school of Enology in Italy. In WWI, the winery was entirely destroyed, and son Etile Carpene reconstructed the company. In 1924, the first Prosecco label was released.
In the mid 193:s, Etile’s son Antonio Carpenè Jr. was the first to affirm that the Charmat method was the one best suited for enhancing the characteristic aromas and elegance of certain Italian sparkling wines, such as Moscato d’Asti and Prosecco. Antonio reconstructed the winery after WWII, and went on to become a huge figure in Italian sparkling winemaking. Son Etoile is the current chairman, and has overseen the growth of the company into a well recognized global brand.

SPINATO
The land on which Anna Spinato’s grapes are grown has been used for that same pur-pose since the 12th century. Wine was first produced there, on the banks of the Piave River, by the monks of the Sant’ Andrea Abbey. Even the Spinato logo tells of the family’s “passion and love for our culture and the tradition of winemaking.”
Today, the wines reflect all the elegance and unpretentious sophistication that Anna Spinato herself is so well known for. Anna Spinato wines have been awarded medals at such events as Vinitaly, the Japan Wine Challenge, and MIWine of Milan. Indeed, the popularity of Anna Spinato’s wines is such that Spinato corks are embedded with a special microchip that guarantees the authenticity of every bottle.

TENUTA SANT’ ANTONIO
Passion, enthusiasm, business skills and experience. Four qualities for four brothers: Armando, Tiziano, Massimo and Paolo Castagnedi. A passion originated in the family vineyards when, as children, they lived in San Zeno di Colognola ai Colli countryside, an area of the extended Valpolicella region which produces the most famous Verona wines, from Amarone to Valpolicella to Soave. In those days, the grapes produced by their father Antonio were sent to the cooperative winegrower’s association, which he founded. The brothers later became owners of their own estate, and each became interchangeable in all functions of it, from working in the field to taking care of its busi-ness affairs. Through their efforts, Tenuta Sant’ Antonio now boasts significant na-tional and international recognition.

NELSON, NEW ZEALAND
RICHMOND PLAINS (100% CERTIFIED ORGANIC)
Located at the top of New Zealand’s South Island, Nelson is one of the world's finest cool-climate wine growing regions, blessed with the most sunshine hours in the country, cool autumn nights, and free-draining soils of ancient river beds, forming ideal grape growing conditions on the alluvial plains. This temperate climate, mod-erated by the surrounding mountains and the Pacific Ocean sea breezes, is perfect for producing vibrant fruit driven white wines and well-structured, elegant reds.
Richmond Plains began in 1991 as a small vineyard owned by Lars and Samantha Jensen, who believe that great wines are made in the vineyard by working with na-ture. By using organic methods, without the use of synthetic herbicides, fungicides, pesticides and fertilizers, they can express the vineyard’s character in the wines.
TE MANIA
NELSON, NEW ZEALAND
Te Mãnia is a family-owned Nelson winery established in 1990 by Jon and Cheryl Harrey, located near the beautiful coastline of Tasman Bay in Nelson, at the top of New Zealand’s South Island. The vineyards flourish on the ancient alluvial terraces, through which rivers flow from the mountains to the sea. These stony soils, combined with Nelson’s cool maritime climate and high sunshine hours, produce grapes and wines of the finest quality.
Nelson is famous for its rich blue skies, brilliant sunshine, beaches and lakes, spectacular national parks, cafés, artists, vineyards and winer-ies. This free spirit of Nelson’s idyllic lifestyle and climate is captured by the Harrier Hawk gliding on the breeze above the Te Mania vineyards.

GOLDEN KAAN
Golden Kaan wines originate from selected vineyards at the southernmost tip of Africa – the fertile, lush Western Cape centered on Cape Town. Here, the Golden Kaan varietals flourish in the rich soils of the Table Mountain sandstone along with the Malmesbury shale, and profit from the ideal terrain of the Western Cape, which resembles a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and good winter rainfall, ensuring the minimum amount of irrigation. These weather and terroir conditions ensure sun-ripened varietal grapes of the highest quality, which are then used to produce the full-bodied and unique wines of Golden Kaan.
Golden Kaan remains committed to environmentally friendly vineyard practices and wine sourcing. All the wines and grapes sourced for Golden Kaan derive from vineyards that are fully IPW (Integrated Production of Wine) certified.

BODEGAS TAGONIUS
Bodegas Tagonius, located 40 km southeast of Madrid, is a relative new-comer to the wine industry, having opened in 2000. Its wines have quickly been placed among the very best from Spain. The winery lies in the Tajuña River Basin, where the ancient Romans enjoyed the wine from the Iberian Peninsula. A century ago, Galician fisherman travelled to Madrid to trade their fish for fine wine. Today, modern winemaking has brought a renais-sance to the region—the ‘Vinos de Madrid’ have gained rapidly in popularity worldwide. The online wine review Iberians on Wine wrote, “Tagonius is a top Madrid red, clearly connected with the wine revolution of La Mancha…”

NICHOLS

Nichols is a small family winery located in Paso Robles, California. It was established in 1991to produce ultra premium wine, with limited production of each varietal around the 1200 case level. This allows owner and wine-maker Keith Nichols to place great care and attention to the tending of the vines, maintaining lower yields and high quality, and to the maximum extrac-tion of varietal character and flavour in the wines. He believes in ageing his wines over extended time periods to ensure that they have had time to mel-low tannins and develop complexity, for wines that show off magnificent, fully developed, multiple layered flavour. When Gasparé Indelicato emigrated to California from the small village of Campobello in Italy, it was only natural that he would do the one thing he knew he could do better than anything else—grow wine grapes, like his father, grandfather and several generations before him. He planted the first grapes for Delicato Family Vineyards in the spring of 1924. Within a few years, wine-makers across the country knew of the quality of Gasparé’s California grapes.
His hard work was rewarded with more orders than he could fill. During Pro-hibition, Gasparé’s grapes were sought after by home winemakers seeking quality grapes for home winemaking. But early success turned into hard times. Grapes sales declined during the Great Depression.
In 1935, with Prohibition repealed, Gasparé made the decision to turn a por-tion of his grapes into wine, using techniques his father had taught him. In the old hay barn by the vineyard, Gasparé, his brother-in-law, and their twin wives took turns with a hand driven press to produce their first vintage con-sisting of 3,451 gallons (just under 1,500 cases) of wine.
Gasparé established a reputation for great winemaking, and other producers in the budding California wine industry approached Gaspare and his family for custom-made wines. To meet the demand, the family acquired additional vineyard land. Gasparé’s three sons, Vincent, Frank and Anthony, joined the family winery as the business grew. Today, Chris and Jay Indelicato, third gen-eration family members and Anthony’s sons, are leading the business into the future under the name of DFV Wines, now the fifth largest winery operation in the United States.

In 1982, the Ferrer family, proprietors of the world’s largest producer of sparkling wine, Freixenet U.S.A., purchased 25: acres of land in Sonoma’s Carneros wine dis-trict, where they planted vineyards with the traditional sparkling wine grapes of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 1986, their state-of-the-art winery, with Spanish-style archi-tecture and breathtaking vista terrace, overlooking the estate vineyards and the roll-ing Carneros hills, opened to the public. The winery was named after José Ferrer's beloved wife.
The winery now cultivates 385 acres in Carneros and produces a range of sparkling and still wines. Gloria Ferrer is dedicated to the production of wines that reflect the artistry of the winemaker and the marriage of vine to place in the vineyard. Gloria Fer-rer’s still wines complement the sparkling wines that will always remain the first love of the Ferrer family.

The Bookwalter family roots are deep in agriculture and the Washington wine and viticulture industry. With several of the top vineyard sources in the state and a com-mitment to excellence in winemaking, Bookwalter Winery continues to fulfill the growing demand for ultra premium wines from Washington State.
In 1997, John Bookwalter joined the family winery, established by parents Jerrold and Jean, as the 10th generation of Bookwalters to be involved in agriculture, focus-ing on producing ultra premium red wines. To do so, he joined with world-class wine-maker/vineyard consultant Zelma Long, who had just retired from her illustrious 30 year wine industry career. Success was immediate, as both the 2000 vintage Mer-lot and Cabernet Sauvignon wines were released to rave reviews. The next two vin-tages brought two top 100 wines of the year rankings, several 90 point-plus Parker ratings and another Wine Spectator "Wine of the Week" acknowledgement.

Steve and Carol Girard have been owners of Benton-Lane since 1988. They headed north from their home state California, feeling that Oregon’s cooler climate offered the possibility of producing Pinot Noir with better balance, structure, and more inter-esting flavours. They settled on a property called ‘Sunnymount’ in southern Wil-lamette Valley, named for its rain shadow position due east of the highest peaks in the coastal range. Sunnymount straddles the border between Benton and Lane counties. The vineyard has grown to 138 acres, planted mostly to Pinot Noir, with 7 distinct clones of rootstocks carefully matched to the planting location. In 2004, the winery began full production of Pinot Gris. Benton-Lane is distributed throughout the U.S. and various international markets, and continues to be highly regarded for its excep-tional crafted wines, showing off the amazing capabilities of the Willamette Valley.

Distilleria Bottega was set up in 1977 by Aldo Bottega, a master distiller with over 30 years of experience. The distillery began modestly, operating in the local grappa market. In 1983, with the death of its founder, son Sandro took on the manage-ment of the company with the assistance of siblings Barbara and Stefano. In a few years, Distilleria Bottega left its anonymity, thanks to an innovative distillation sys-tem that makes grappa mellower and more delicate. In 1987, the Alexander brand joined Bottega; this new brand is intended for those consumers who have devel-oped a much more educated and refined palate.
All Alexander Grappa has its origin from very fresh and vinous marcs that are distilled in copper stills following the steam distillation in order to guarantee the highest quality. The Venetian blown glass bottles, designed by Sandro Bottega, are the ideal container to view the clarity and transparency of the Alexander Grappa. They were also the object of a prestigious international exhibition called “Art in Grappa”.

VECCHIA ROMAGNA Vecchia Romagna comes from a great company tradition that dates back to 1820, when the refined French distiller Jean Bouton, the founder of the first steam distillery, arrived in Italy.
Distilled from prized Trebbiano grapes, Vecchia Romagna Black Label is an unmistak-able brandy. An exceptional recipe, advanced distillation techniques, and aging for a minimum of three years in small oak casks give it a warm intense colour, an aromatic, harmonious, complex fragrance, and a smooth dry taste. For these reasons, it has become the default Italian brandy in the marketplace.
Amaro Montenegro is a traditional amaro distilled using 40 herbs obtained from around the world, including vanilla and orange peels. It uses a unique soaking and dis-tillation process, which results in a liquor that is sweet in taste, with a slightly bitter finish.
It was first produced by famous Italian spirits manufacturer Stanislao Cobianchi in the late 19th century and is named after the second queen of Italy, Princess Elena of Mon-tenegro. It is extremely popular as an after-coffee drink ―‘ammazzacaffe’ in Italian‖.

SPRINGBANK DISTILLERY
Springbank Distillery is a true original in many regards. It is the oldest distillery in Scotland that survives in the ownership of its founders, the Mitchells, Scotland’s senior distilling family. The present distillery was built in 1828 on the site of the previous illicit distillery of Archibald Mitchell. Springbank is the signature producer of Campbeltown, one of the five recognized production regions of scotch. It has its own unique and de-lightful nuances which make it among the world's best single malt producers.
Springbank is unique amongst Scotland’s distilleries in that all parts of the production process, from traditional malting to bottling, are carried out at the one location. Of note, it is the only distillery that has never used chill filtering and the addition of cara-mel to add back colour in the production of its fine malts, ensuring that the essential oils, esthers and proteins are maintained in the product, guaranteeing whiskies of the finest pure aroma and flavour.

CASA NOBLE Casa Noble represents the pride, passion and quality commitment of more than 200 years of tequila production. First established in 1776, Casa Noble’s family of tequilas has a rich history, earning them a position as one of the finest spirits in the world.
Casa Noble began as a hacienda surrounded by a vast land where only one thing was to be found: blue agave (tequilana weber), tequila's one and only source. In a few years, this hacienda became one of the most industrially developed facilities of the region; its lands holding close to 1 million agave plants, in a region with a recorded 6 million in total. At the turn of the century, the hacienda had a daily production capacity of ten 66-liter barrels. Casa Noble ultra premium tequilas begin as carefully selected mature blue agave plants which have met strict requirements for water and sugar content. Using tradi-tional methods, the rich agave pinas are slow-cooked for 38 hours in stone ovens. Then, using only the core and hearts of the agaves, the sweet nectar is extracted.
The fermentation process is 100% natural, followed by a triple distillation. The result is a tequila so pure and full of agave flavor that it has elevated the concept of tequila to new levels around the world.

PINK 47 Multi-award winning Pink 47 Gin was launched in the spring of 2007, to immediate critical acclaim. It is distilled by the UK’s second largest distiller, which produces a staggering 6.5 million 9L cases of spirits every year. Their roots trace back 250 years and today specialize in the distillation of traditional London Dry Gin. In 2007, they won no less than 18 awards for this new product.
While the process of distillation of London Dry Gin is widely understood, Pink 47 Gin certainly follows its own production path. Specifically, it is the use of the twelve care-fully selected botanicals used in the recipe, including almonds, cassia and nutmeg, that helps to give the gin such a distinct sensory profile.
The remarkable Pink 47 Gin bottle takes its shape from the legendary Khavaraya Pink Diamond, which has been missing for over 4:: years, and was reputably shaped “like a sublime teardrop of spiritual joy”. The search for the Khavaraya symbolizes the com-pany’s struggle to craft a perfect gin with which to make definitive cocktails. Facets flash the pink tones of the label through the crystal clear liquid to create a distinctive ‘pink’ package.

ROYAL JAMAICAN
Royal Jamaican is responsible for the production of Jamaican Gold at its small, exclusive private estate. Though a relative newcomer to the mar-ket, it has already created quite a stir for the quality of its rum and its unique, attractive packaging.
Jamaican Gold is a premium amber rum distilled from 100% Jamaican molasses. Great care and attention is made to ensure the highest quality possible throughout all stages in the production process. The product is hand-filled and bottled in small batches.
The rum itself shows off a wonderfully smooth, round, rich, textured taste, with hints of chocolate, vanilla and other pleasant spices. It is a rum that is truly worthy of the fine reputation that Jamaica has carved out for itself in the production of world class rum, one that dates all the way back to the 16th century.

ANTIGUA
ANTIGUA DISTILLERY
The Antigua Distillery has long been the premium distiller of fine rums in The Leeward islands. They are committed to maintaining the high stan-dards of production and packaging that have been developed over recent decades. The company produces high quality rums with the finest all-natural ingredients, using a skillful combination of traditional methods and modern technology. They continue the tradition of using copper pipes for their five column continuous copper still that can produce 1.5 million litres a year. Ageing is done in 220 litre American oak casks that were previ-ously used for ageing bourbon, covering a time frame of a minimum 2-3 years, with no top-ups to replace evaporation, allowing the "angels" to take their share.
English Harbour Five Year Old Antigua Rum is smooth, lush, and not overly stickly sweet, with a lovely vanilla profile, making it versatile for cocktails or as a fine sipping rum all on its own. It is a premium rum that offers tre-mendous value.

SPIRITS
YENI RAKI Raki ―pronounced ‘ra-kee’‖ is a non-sweet, anise flavoured spirit popularly consumed in Turkey as an aperitif, It is traditionally produced by twice-distilling either pure suma, or suma that has been mixed with ethanol in traditional copper alembics of 5000 litres, and subsequently flavoured with aniseed. It is similar to several kinds of alcoholic beverages available around the Mediterranean, Middle East and Colombia, including pastis, ouzo, sambuca, arak, anise castellano and aguardiente.
In Turkey, raki is the unofficial national drink, and is traditionally consumed either sec, with chilled water on the side, or partly mixed with chilled water. The subsequent dilution causes Raki to turn a milky-white colour, a phenomenon that has resulted in the drink being popularly referred to as aslan sütü, literally meaning ‘Lion’s Milk’, which, together with the usage of the word ‘aslan’ as a Turkish metaphor for a strong, courageous man, gives the term a meaning close to ‘the milk of the brave’.
Raki is commonly consumed alongside mezze—a selection of hot and cold appetizers, and is especially popular alongside seafood, together with fresh arugula, white cheese and melon. It is an equally popular complement to various red meat dishes like kebabs.
Yeni Raki is produced by Mey Alcoholic Beverages, and is the highest regarded and most popular brand in Turkey, well known for its very high quality and smooth, rounded flavour.

HARE Hare ―pronounced ‘Ha-Ree’‖ is a line of liqueurs that was recently launched by Mey Alcoholic Beverages of Turkey. Mey is Turkey’s leading producer of spirits and one of its largest wine producers. It was founded in 2004 to consolidate a number of dispa-rate distilleries in the country. The company has aggressively launched new brands, and re-launched old ones, in its efforts to build upon its position as one of Europe’s largest spirit producers.
The Hare brand name is translated, oddly enough, as “bright lines that appear to be undulating to the eye.” The bottle for the Hare Turkish Coffee Cream Liqueur sports a mystical design that is supposed to be “the gaze of the concubine in the Ottoman harem.”
The coffee cream liqueur product itself has proven to be an enormous success within Turkey, and Canada has become one of the very first export destinations for this fabu-lous product. This special cream liqueur blends the famous natural traditional Turk-ish coffee with soft, textured, velvety cream liqueur. It has an irresistible warm coffee aroma, and the smooth, rich, luscious cream is a joy to savour alongside coffee, with dessert, or all on its own.

San Francisco’s famous Anchor Steam, the classic of American brewing tradition since 1896, is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. The deep amber color, thick creamy head, and rich flavour all testify to its traditional brewing methods. Anchor Steam is unique, for its brewing process has evolved over many decades and is like no other in the world.
The ‘steam’ reference comes from the fact that the brewery started with no way to chill the boiling wort, so they pumped it to large open-top bins on the roof for it to be chilled by the cool air blowing in off the Pacific Ocean. Thus while brewing, the brew-ery had a distinct cloud of steam around the roof let off by the wort as it cooled.

The Kulmbacher Brewery Corporation was founded in 1895. In the 195:s, it set out specifically to make the world’s biggest export beer. Naturally, it would be done according to the Bavarian Purity Law, using nothing but barley malt, yeast, hops and water. The results impressed even the high expectations of its own consumers, as German beer consumers picked Kulmbacher as the best Pilsner in Germany.
Kulmbacher is the only brewery in Germany that displays a coat of arms of a city in its trademarks. This was approved by Kulmbach city council in 1926. This city at the center of the country, not far from the western border of old Bohemia, is at the heart of Bavarian brew-ing. It is here where the best balance between the malty and hoppy elements of a classic Pils is achieved.

BIRRA MENABREA
The historic Menabrea brewery – the oldest in Italy – was built in 1846 in the town of Biella at the foot of the Italian Alps. Still run by the founding family, it is now the country's only fully Italian-owned brewery. Menabrea 1846 is still brewed in the original building, which boasts an extensive network of under-ground cellars where the beer is fermented and aged.
Menabrea 1846 is a premium prestige lager beer. Additive free, it is the only Italian lager still brewed by bottom fermentation, a completely natural ‘slow fer-mentation’ process using spring water from the Alps and brewed with malt, maize, hops and yeast. Unlike mass produced beer, no water is later added to standardize the alcohol content. The results are a testament to eight genera-tions of brewing expertise by the Menabrea family - a full bodied beer with a light colour and optimum flavour.
Menabrea 1846 has won numerous international awards, the first being the Gold Medal Award at the London International Exhibition in 1925, and the most recent being the top prize for two years running at the Chicago International Beer Championships in 1997, 1998, and then again in 2000.

EFES The Efes brand, synonymous with Turkey since 1969, has enjoyed a unique history. Beer production in Turkey did not begin until 1890, when a brewery was founded in Istanbul by two Swiss entrepreneurs. This brewery was later nationalized, and for a time, Tekel, a state enterprise, was the only beer producer in Turkey. In 1969, a change in the regulations opened the market to private enterprise, allowing the Efes company to establish its first two breweries in the cities of Istanbul and Izmir.
Today, Efes controls approximately 85% of the domestic beer market in Turkey. With the exception of Tuborg, which started producing beer in Turkey the same year that Efes began, other foreign brands—so successful elsewhere—have made little progress in Turkey. It is a testament to the reverence that the local population has for its home brand.
Efes has rode its domestic popularity to the international market with great suc-cess, particularly in Eastern Europe. With its iconic bottle packaging and fresh, crisp, clean taste, it has found its following with beer lovers all over the world.

THAILAND
THAI BEV Chang Beer has captured the imagination of the Thai people due to the brand’s commitment to quality, harmony, balance and complete authenticity. Within four years of its launch in 1995, Chang became Thailand’s number 1 selling beer. To-day, its share in the domestic Thailand market sits at 50%. The brand has rode this domestic success into the international market, where it has truly become an iconic brand. Recently, Chang Beer was awarded the Gold Medallion at the Inter-national Beer Competition in Australia.
The word ‘chang’ translates as ‘elephant’ - an animal that has played a major part in Thailand’s rich history. It is revered in religion and among royalty and has helped cultivate the land that now produces Chang’s unique flavour.
