District play is well underway in both D5 and D10. After witnessing a terrible display of lack of sportsmanship by the parents from RiverLakes 10B team, I sent their President and the District Director a letter. We should all be reminded that this is a game and that it provides many opportunities to teach life’s lessons. Let’s not find ourselves on the wrong end of one of these incidents.

High School Boys and Girls No Report

Junior Gold – Jim Helgestad

Game scheduling meeting was November 25th. JR Gold will have 24 league games this year (12 home / 12 away) First league game is on December 12 at Elk River

First home game is on December 15 vs. Sartell in Monticello

Final Tournament Schedule includes Siren WI (Dec 6-8) and Buffalo MN (Feb 7-9) Currently have 13 skaters and 2 goalies (9 from STMA and 6 from MAML) – still hoping to add 2 more skaters to get to 15

Registration - Kristen Huber/Jess Vankuyk

All coaches (both traveling and mites) need to have their certifications and modules completed by 12/27

Sponsorship – Adam Smiglewski No Report

Equipment - Mike Fette/Karl Anderson

Thanks to our apparel program through Bauer and Dave's we should have about a $1000 credit to spend on Bauer merchandise. We are going to use this to pay for some of the miscellaneous expenses that the board approved at last months meeting. On a similar note, there is still time for families to order apparel through Dave's/Bauer. Turn around time has been pretty fast, especially if you order in the store (Maple Grove). The more we order the bigger the associations store credit will be. If you have had any trouble with any of your orders please let Karl Anderson know, [email protected] This information is helpful when deciding which vendors to use. Also if you have comments or concerns about anything equipment related please let Karl know.

Ice Scheduler – Cully Reinbold/Mite Ice Scheduler - Jenny Bilicki Jr. Gold is scheduling, Monticello gave ice time for them, as there are several MAML players on the team. STMA ice is getting slim. We are getting teams in for dryland and skills, practices are very hard to come by. Using a lot of ice from Schwans. Buffalo has a new scheduler this year and it has been tough getting ice from them. Continuing to get any ice from Monti and Rogers that they have for sale. I received the mite schedule through 12/8/13. I will get 12/14 forward as soon as I have that back from the mites.

Volunteer – Kris McDonald

Even though DIBS might show you are 100% complete with your hours, you may not be. You will receive an email from the volunteer coordinator once you have fulfilled all of your hours including the gambling shift and your check will or will not be cashed.

Team Manager Coordinator – Holly Roos

All team managers have been assigned

Scorebook submission has been communicated in multiple ways to the managers and feedback from D5 is that we are doing well. Fielding lots of questions (5-10 daily emails) which has helped get communication and clarification out to all manager’s. In process of updating and clarifying procedures in Manager handbook. Manager’s, keep asking questions and continue to refer them to me for clarification. If I don’t know I will find out or refer you to whoever can help.

Secretary’s Report – Jen Tourville Approve November Meeting Minutes - Couldn’t approve on 12.9.13 - not enough voting board members in attendance. Moved to Approve November Meeting Minutes on 12.11.13 at Board Meeting without reading - Nate/Sam

Travel Team Pictures are 12/12 and Initiation Team Pictures are 12/13 at the Community Ed Gym – updated schedule sent to Team Managers. The schedule in your Agenda is already outdated. Super Kid of the Game - Vinny Evenson

E-mails: Because we have SO many people in our Association my e-mail distribution lists are large. If you are receiving emails from me at multiple accounts or believe you may have an old email address on the list let me know. I want to delete the email addresses not used to keep my lists as current as possible. I am working on a project for skaters in their last year with youth hockey. 2nd year Bantams and 2nd year U14's. Send a photo of your skater from his/her first year in hockey. An action shot is OK but I would prefer a professional one. Send to Team Managers. This does not include skater’s that moved up to HS (boys and girls). Question - Where do the cashed Volunteer Checks go? Per Jeff, they go to the General Fund. We could put in the Shining Knights Fund.

Handbook Committee

Was the handbook updated to reflect the following?: ● Penalty box .5 (each box is worth .5) ● Scorebook 1 ● Clock 1 ● Locker room .5

Look into amending handbook to allow Board Member vote electronically/conference in to meetings

Knight to Remember 2014 Committee - David Berg, Chair

Still need people to help out

OLD BUSINESS

PR – David Berg

The 2nd sheet fun day - 1 outstanding check. Has that come in yet?

Facilities Committee Outdoor Sheet Bolton Inc. - topographic study for free to us (STMAYHA). Normally costs up to 3k

Civil engineering costs of 3-4k will also be free to us and this service allows to start the process of building the outdoor sheet of ice. Still need to get City Approval and STMAYHA Board to vote.

Initiation – Becky Rogalski/Eric Kindgren

Request that the association cover the $10,900 (approximate based on last year) fees for mite tournaments and jamborees. Motion made to pay $4,250 for 1 jamboree and also in this motion is a request for Mite teams to use the Dryland Facility at no cost (no treadmill) from now until the end of the season (time has to be on schedule). Coaches have to have a plan for leading dryland - Approved - Paul/Nate

Mites are wondering if there is a surplus of monies from registration fee’s where are they and what are they used for? There is no “surplus” of money. Mites are charged a flat rate. Mites and travelling levels are charged fee’s for being part of the Association; fee’s such as administrative costs (postage, copies, paper, ink cartridges - just to name a few), coaches reimbursements and fee’s, ref fee’s, legal costs, equipment and other fee’s. Ice time is not the only expense.

NEW BUSINESS

Ice Scheduler – Cully Reinbold

Do any teams want practice on 12/31? January ice is VERY hard to come by, so teams may want to take it while they can get it.

Girls Coordinator- Nate Allen

Discussion with Bryan Heiber (coach of the 14U) and the District Director about possibly reclassifying the 14s to be a “B” team.

Page 6: STMAYHA Meeting Minutes – December 2013 · PDF fileInitiation – Becky Rogalski/Eric Kindgren Request that the association cover the $10,900 (approximate based on last year) fees

No final decision yet, as the key hold up is that they would need to withdraw from their remaining tournaments without many good options available. If the Board is inclined to allow the change and absorb any cancellation fees that result, we might make the decision right away. This would likely affect one and maybe two tournaments fees. HOC recommends Girls 14UA stays at A not go down to B

SafeSport – Josh O

Have to have Locker Room Monitors. If we are caught not having them the consequence is not being able to District play. All reports are confidential.

Move to adjourn and propose next meeting to be held: Monday, January 13th at 7PM at Albertville City Hall - upstairs - Jen/Becky
