In times of dwindling energy reserves, increasing economic challenges and growing environ-mental awareness, the building industry is asked to come up with new solutions. Building owners are opting more and more fre-quently for facade insulation, and hence for greater independence when it comes to the national and international conlict of oil prices, contracts and interests. The choice of external wall insula-tion systems is expanding in line with demand and is becoming increasingly complex and con-fusing. Hence, everyone involved in construction relies more and more on experience, know-how and reliability. This is a major reason why StoTherm Classic is so successful worldwide.

Thermal insulation is booming. It's no surprise since anyone who uses insulation systems is not only con-tributing towards saving unnecessary energy costs but is also acting respon-sibly and sustainably at the same time with regard to the environment and active climate protection. The energy saved by Sto facade insulation systems alone equates to around 35 billion litres of heating oil, and hence prevents pollutant emission of more than 110 million tonnes of CO2. But the demands of building owners on EWIS are rising. Consistently in-novative solutions that can cope with current trends, e.g. Passivhauses or refurbishment, are called for by architects and the craft trades.

StoTherm Classic is one of the world's most successful facade insula-tion systems. As the irst external wall insulation system (EWIS), it was developed from the outset with a focus on safety and long-term material behaviour and has since been continually improved. StoTherm Classic has one of the lowest complaint rates thanks to its high system reliability and durability.

StoTherm Classic has been tried and tested for over 40 years and in that time has been used in practice on almost more than 100 million square metres of reference surface. And there are good reasons why this external wall insulation system is superior to other facade insulation systems in many regards: this cement-free system provides up to 10 times more shock and impact resistance than mineral systems. It guarantees maximum crack resistance and consists of absolutely cement-free system components throughout. StoTherm Classic also stands for schedule security, scope for design as well as cost-effectiveness, and is hence an external wall insulation system that is without equal on the market.

A systematic structure: from the bonding to the top coat – the individual components of the StoTherm Classic system are optimally coordinated and can be applied especially quickly and easily to the wall. Depending on the condition of the substrate, the system is either only bonded or bonded and dowelled.

StoTherm Classic has also proved to be extremely effective on wooden substrates. System-secure and technically approved, it achieves an extremely high level of thermal insulation with thin wall cross-sections.

Sensitive insulation systems are not appropriate for facades subject to stress and impact. Only extremely robust materials can with-stand the rigours of highly exposed facades - such as StoTherm Classic with its organic system structure.

Application security at any time of year

The QuickSet technology (QS), a Sto innovation, allows application from +1°C ambient and substrate tempera-ture and a relative air humidity of up to max. 95%. Thanks to these properties of the QS products from Sto, projects with StoTherm Classic no longer need to go into hibernation in the cooler season.

The components: quality instead of quantityMake your life easier

Conventional bonding – Sto-ADH-BThe mineral bonding mortar has excellent bonding properties and high wet adhesion. It is suitable for static, even and uneven, mineral and organic substrates.

The insulation boardThe insulation board made of expanded polystyrene foam is light, (H)CFC-free, of limited combustibility and shrinkage-free.

Depending on the condition of the substrate, the insulation board is either bonded or bonded and dowelled.

The reinforcing compoundThe cement-free, ready-to-use StoArmat Classic gives the system high elasticity, and hence maximum crack and shock resistance. The compound is especially easy and problem-free to spread.

The durability of StoArmat Classic is unrivalled in the area of paste-form products.

The glass ibre meshThis alkali-resistant reinforcing mesh with absolutely uniform force absorp-tion reliably dissipates tensile and shear stress and is easy and conveni- ent to apply.

Whatever render is chosen, it is part of the established system and gives optimum protection to StoTherm Classic. Furthermore, all design wishes can be fulilled with the stippled render, rilled render and free-style textured render variants.

StoSilco: silicone resin render that deserves its nameSto silicone resin facade renders are speciically designed for durability and excellent weathering stability. Thanks to the high proportion of silicone resin, the facade remains signiicantly drier and often the water scours off algae and fungi. In this way, StoSilco facades are particularly weather-resistant, mechanically resistant and durable at the same time.

Stolit: the tried and tested organic inishing renderStolit is a true all-rounder among the facade renders for organic and mineral substrates. With a broad range of textures, colour shades and its high colour stability, it is also convincing due to its high security against crack formation in addition to its good water vapour permeability and excellent mechanical stability. This makes it indispensable on today's construction sites!

StoLotusan®: the irst render with Lotus-Effect®

StoDeco RusticationsVersatile design element: modern facades can be optically structured with the StoDeco Rustications made of mineral Veroill granulate. As the rustications are extremely durable, they are also favoured in the design of plinths.

Sto-Natural Stone TilesThe range of Sto-Natural Stone Tiles includes an extensive selection of striking textures and colours. The tiles are bonded onto the insulation system as the top coat and thus lend the facades a stylish and individual appearance.

The StoColor SystemA good basis for creative ideas: there are a total of 800 colour shades available for trend-setting colour concepts. The special feature is the StoColor System eschewing stringent colorimetric logic in favour of the human perception of colour. It is based primarily on the colours yellow, orange, red, violet, blue and green.
