Stock Characters

The Wanderer• This is the person who

volunteers to go explore the location. They always get killed due to their isolation from the rest of the group which makes them unable to fight the danger/evil themselves. When the other characters realise the wanderer is taking too long to come back that is when they join in to see what's happened. Which usually results into them getting killed also.

Tatum Riley in “Scream”. She wanders off to get beers for the others from the basement fridge and ends up getting trapped and killed by ghost face.

The Jock• Extremely arrogant and vain

characteristics. Loved by the girls, hated by the boys. Most come across as quite dumb academically as their brain is only focused on girls, partying and football. They always have their baseball type jacket on, so no one forgets who they are and what their about. Being tough and being a bully is also one of the key traits they hold.

Billy from “Final Destination”

The Popular Girl• All the girls want to be her,

some even worship at her feet. The boys stare at her and fantasise as she walks by. As well as being the most popular she is usually the hottest girl in the school too. She’s typically the girlfriend of the jock due to them both having high statuses at school. She too is sometimes a bully and is stereotypically a cheerleader.

“Jenifer’s Body”

Pandora

• This character can also be referred too as the dark horse of the group. They act and look innocent but ends up being the killer in some horror films. It is their innocence that makes them a good killer or sidekick of the killer as no one expects it to be them. This gives the movie a good twist and unpredictable ending.

Jill Roberts in “Scream 4”. Cousin of the protagonist who is visiting from out of town. She reveals herself as the killer at the end after her major killing spree. She then kills herself to hide the evidence.

The Pervert• The most sexually active

member of the group. This role is most likely to be played by a male. He attempts to get with every girl he can. Sometimes failing miserably. Also tends to be the first character killed by the villain. He is not the killer’s main focus but is usually killed whilst with the popular girl.

Frankie in “Final Destination 3”

The Final Girl• The main focus of the killer

who makes it to the end of the movie alive. The movie takes us through her adventure and we see her discoveries, her losses and her battles against evil. She is the smartest of the bunch which benefits to her advantages of staying alive.
