AN ACCESSIBLE BEACH A Guide to Accessing Cape May County’s Beaches and Surf Chairs for People with Disabilities GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR SAFE SURF CHAIR USE Use of the surf chair is restricted to those individuals weighing less than three hundred (300) pounds An attendant must be present when the chair is in use The attendant must not undertake tasks which exceed his/her physical ability At no time, and under no circumstances is the surf chair to be placed in the water beyond a depth of six inches. charge) at the sports & civic center at 6th street & boardwalk between 9 am and 5 pm

Reservations: • Reservations are encouraged; to reserve a chair, contact

the Recreation Division at the sports & civic center (609-525-9304) between 9 am and 5 pm

• surf chairs can be reserved for up to 2 weeks or can be used on a daily basis

• Failure to pick up the chair within 24 hours of the initial reservation date will result in the cancellation of your reservation

• both child and adult size chairs are offered

ACCESSIBLE REST ROOMS• Public rest rooms are located on the boardwalk at 1st

street, 6th street, Music Pier, and 12th street • Public rest rooms are also available at the sports &

civic center and at the 34th and 59th street lifeguard stations

ACCESSIBLE PARKING• There is no charge for the parking lot located at 5th

street and Asbury Ave• There is no charge for on-street metered parking for

properly marked handicapped vehicles• Municipal parking lots provide handicapped parking
