We hope that everyone enjoyed time with family and friends over the winter break, and that our students are rejuvenated and ready to take on the final month of the first term. This month in the class- rooms, students will be engaged in summative tasks and given opportunities to show what they know about the curriculum expectations they have been working on throughout term one. Report cards for term one will be distributed to our students on Thursday, February 18, 2016. Please remember there are PA Days on Friday, January 15th and Monday, February 1 st 2016. Winter is definitely upon us now as the cold weather has crept into the Mark- ham area. All students are reminded that we continue to go outside for 30 minutes for morning recess and 40 minutes during lunch recess. In order to be comfortable in the cold weather we ask that all students dress for the win- ter weather including: boots, ski pants, jackets, hats and waterproof mittens or gloves. Finally, we would like to thank the School Council for all the work that the members do to support the school and student learning. The direct donation fundraiser that School Council organized provides us with additional funds for technology and classroom items that help us to provide engaging learning opportunities for all of our students. Their work is invaluable at Stonebridge Public School. The School Council has organized a workshop for all parents on Thursday, January 21 st at 7:00-8:00pm. Jennifer Kolari will be at Stonebridge to speak with parents. She will share ways that parents can help children to become more confident and emotionally resilient. We hope to see you there as we know it will be a very meaningful event. Yvonne Chan Shelley Jones Principal Vice Principal

Stonebridge School Council

The next School Council meeting will be held on Monday, January

11th, 2016 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in the Library. All parents are

invited. We meet again Monday, February 1st at 6:30 pm.

Bus Cancellations - please access local radio & T.V. stations

School bus service may be cancelled from time to time due to inclement weather or poor road conditions. In these

cases, parents and students should develop alternate care/transportation arrangements. Since some bussing

schedules begin by 7:00 a.m. or earlier, all cancellation decisions must be made by 6:00 a.m. to ensure the safety

of our students. Cancellation decisions will only be made after thorough consultation with school bus companies

servicing York Region. Decisions are based on several factors including precipitation, air temperature and road

conditions. If buses are cancelled in the morning, they will not operate in the afternoon. Therefore students trans-

ported to school by parents will need to be picked up at the end of the day.

STONEBRIDGE PUBLIC SCHOOL CHESS CLUB

Stonebridge P. S. Chess Club has started. Students in grades 3 to 8 who

had signed up are meeting at the library after school every Friday, from 3:30

-4:30, to practice their skills by playing with members who are playing at

their level.

PIZZA

Parents/guardians,

If your child is absent and would like to pick up his/her pizza order, please call the office before 12:00pm so that they can inform the school council.

Last day for this Pizza session is March 10th, 2016.

Forms for the next session will be sent out after Family Day.

Thank you for your cooperation.

IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION NOTICE FOR BUS ROUTE

Effective January 11th, 2016, students travelling on Route 7227-6 will be changed

to 7226-7 on the afternoon run ONLY .
