STONEWALL 5th GRADE “STLP” STUDENTS PLACE 2ND IN DISTRICT!!

The Student Technology Leadership Program(STLP) allows

students to utilize creation thru technology to solve school

and community needs. With the assistance of Ms. Jacobs,

three Stonewall students used this program to solve a school

problem! The students developed the “Stonewall Wellness

Course” to allow students of all grades to have a place to go

when they are feeling overwhelmed by the classroom or

need indoor movement during winter months!

To be a qualifying STLP project they were required to use

technology. What better way to move into the 21st century

than QR Codes and YouTube! These dedicated students

learned how to merge two separate formats into one format

which took a tremendous amount of learning and work outside of the normal school day!

The end result? All students at Stonewall can go on a Bear Hunt to pretend to be “Rocky”

with “Eye of the Tiger” to being the “Champion!” The overall goal was to help students of

all abilities to get moving in a positive manner—and that goal was achieved!

5th grade students Ryleigh Fleming, Nakayla Richardson, and Skylar Vaught competed in a

Fayette Co. district level STLP competition in March—placing 2nd! WOW! This placing

allowed them to advance to a statewide competition held at Rupp Arena on 3/29th!

WHAT AN AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT!! STONEWALL PROUD!!

Do you know how Box Tops Began?

Things to know about Box Tops for Education (BTFE) and Stonewall

Box Tops for Education started in 1996 in California. Originally it only included “Big O Cereals” like Cheerios, Total, and Lucky Charms.

Today, America’s schools have earned over $868 million! You can now find Box Tops on hundreds of products in stores and online.

    • We currently rank # 1 in our area, # 7 in Kentucky, and # 324 in the nation, out of 97,322 schools. • The top five other area schools are: LCA, Cassidy, ACE, and Huntertown, in Versailles.

    • We have collected over 29,000 Box Tops since school started in August! • We have earned over $2,635 so far this school year from our processed submissions.

    • Our lifetime earnings are $34,245.78 with Box Tops. • The collection contest theme for March was “Dis Guy’s Looking For More Box Tops” with 5th graders as the stars. • Ms. Reichenbach’s 3rd grade class was the winner of the Grimaldi’s Pizzeria Party for March. They collected 577Box Tops. • The staff contest for April is a $25 Panera Bread gift card.

    • Piper Griffin, in Ms. Ford’s 2nd grade class, won the giant art kit for guessing how many Box Tops were in the container. (Thanks to Mr. Corey in the cafeteria for the donation!) • Thanks so much for all the “treasures” being donated to the Treasure Boxes. We can always use more, so send them in, please. Kids love our Treasure Boxes!

Thanks for all that you continue to do helping us do so well! Keep sending in your Box Tops and logon to BTFE.com often and enter the contests. (Especially during the summer months!)
