B IBLE STUDY

9 .0 0 A.M. - 9 .4 5 A.M.

Sub-Theme/6: Relationships and Fellowships That Please God.Topic: Relationship and Fellowship With Believers.Texts: 1John 1:6-7; Heb. 10:25; Eccl. 4:7-12.Aims: i. To understand the concept of having fellowship with other believers;

ii. To realise the benefits of relationship /fellowship with other believers;

iii. To realise the dangers of not having fellowship with fellow Christians.

Introduction: The Christian life is not to be lived in isolation. The high priestly prayer (John 17:11, 22-23) of our Saviour highlights the need for all His disciples to be one. It was an earnest desire of His heart as He looked forward then to His departure. By this, Jesus Himself teaches and encourages mutual relationship and fellowship. Our study today urges believers to pursue relationship and fellowship with other believers, no matter what. There is much more in these than in solo efforts (Psa. 133; Eccl. 4:7-12; Matt.18:19-20).

Study Guide1a. What can you learn from the principles for relationship

set forth by Jesus in John 17:20-22?b. Explain some ways fellowship with other believers take

place or can be done for mutual benefit: Acts 2:42-47; Gal.5:13; Heb. 10:24; I John 1:3.

2. Discuss the benefits of having fellowship with other believers in the light of the following scriptures:

Eccl. 4:9-11; Matt.18:18-20; Heb. 10:24-25; 1John 1:7.3. Discuss the challenges and hindrances to meaningful

relationship and fellowship among believers. Acts 6:1; 1 Cor. 1:10; 3:3-5; Gal.2:11-14; 2 Thess. 3:6-12.

4. What are the dangers of staying away from fellowship with other Christians? Eccl. 4:7-12 (consider the other

side of the text).

Conclusion: Though there will be challenges in the process, our fellowship with other believers is not optional. It is one crucial way to improve on our relationship with God too. Let us avoid self-seeking and concentrate on how to build each other up in the faith and to encourage mutual relationship.

Food For Thought: A threefold cord is not easily broken: what about a single cord?

Memory Verse: I John 1:3.

THE NATURE OF TRUE OBEDIENCE

Matthew 21:31 (New Century Version), which of the two sons obeyed his father?” The priests and leaders answered, “The first son.” Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes will enter the kingdom of God before you do.

The KJV version used the word “will” which in Greek is thel’-ay-mah which could also be translated as command, precept, desire, inclination etc. I love the NCV, therefore for us to consider the theme for today’s meditation it is of great importance to consider the meaning of these key words ‘nature’, ‘true’ and obedience.

Nature can be defined as the basic or inherent features, character, or qualities of something. Obedience is compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another’s authority. True can be defined as an act in accordance with fact or reality, accurately or without variation.

The text we are considering today proved the nature of true obedience which was determined by the result or achievement in response to the command given by the authority, father. Permit me to point out at this fact, under the umbrella of dedication, hypocrisy and fake-care for the interest of others and the authority it became done on me the some result that is refer to as true obedience is just simply rebellion and deception clothed in chameleon skin that reflect what the authority desire. A person can appear to be obedient on the outside and actually detesting every minute of it.A lot of division exists today in modern Christianity in relation to obedience to God and authority Romans 13: 1-10. Have you considered that theme for yourself? It’s easy to just choose on your own what you will do, “feeling” comfortable with the freedom to choose. Truly being obedient to God involves

placing God’s will ABOVE your own, out of love. The fact is, a person is either obedient in God’s eyes or he is disobedient. You see, God does not measure obedience like we do. We look on the outward appearance; God looks on the heart.The theme “nature of true obedience” you may ask, “But is there such a thing then as false obedience?” Not really, but the word obedience is often used rather loosely. For this reason we need to understand that obedience is, first and foremost, something that comes from the heart. Obedience is an attitude. Many of us have been somewhat confused in respect to obedience. The true obedience has as its primary purpose to create in us a new heart—that is, a new attitude—which says, “I delight to do your will, O my God. You have written Your commandments in my heart.” The son thought of this and obeyed the father Mat. 21: 19.If there is anyone here today who doesn’t enjoy obeying God or feels that God’s will—His commandments—are not fair or His asking too much, forgetting the price paid for your soul: go directly to your knees and acknowledge to God that you have
