ANNUAL REPORT 2016-2017 Building Communities Together CMHA Alberta Division has continued to focus its activities on the Mental Health of all Albertans. We are grateful for the operational expertise of CMHA’s affiliated Regions and continue to work toward demonstrating the collective impact of our shared work in this province. Opportunities and projects of provincial scope have come into focus because of active engagement with the Government of Alberta and other provincial partners. Engagement with the Ministry of Health, Alberta Health Services, the Ministry of Children’s Services and the Ministry of Seniors and Housing demonstrate strong connections between CMHA in Alberta and the Mental Health needs represented by Albertans of all ages and in all communities. Workplace Mental Health Training CMHA’s Certified Psychological Health and Safety Advisor Training program helps individuals who are working to improve psychological health and safety in their workplaces. CMHA Alberta Division provides the training to communities across Alberta. Strategic Plan Strategic Plan development has been a focus of Division activity throughout the year. Input and interaction have come from many stakeholders. Completion and approval are planned for December of 2017 Conferences Held two successful inaugural mental health conferences: • Now We Are Stronger, a provincial community mental health conference; and • Working Stronger, equipping Albertans for better workplace mental health. Mental Health First Aid Seniors Training CMHA Alberta Division, in partnership with the Government of Alberta, Alberta Health Services and the Mental Health Commission of Canada, is coordinating the provincial roll-out of Mental Health First Aid Seniors training to those who work in first point-of- contact settings across Alberta to increase the capacity of seniors and those who care for or work with seniors. Post-Secondary Mental Health - Healthy Campus Alberta Post-secondary student mental well-being is linked to academic achievement, learning, retention and future success. The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Alberta Division is pleased to welcome Healthy Campus Alberta (HCA), Alberta’s post-secondary community of practice as a named project within the CMHA Alberta Division family. Caregiver Connections: Drop-in Family Support CMHA Alberta Division is responsible for managing the provincial program implementation of a quality peer-to-peer family support program in Alberta. CMHA Alberta Division facilitated the training of eight Regions within Alberta to CMHA Staff Supports and Peer Support Facilitators. Affiliation Agreement This year CMHA Alberta Division completed a renewal of the affiliation agreements between Alberta Division and the nine Alberta Regions. The renewed affiliation agreements point to the health of our organization and create new opportunities for collaboration between the Alberta Division and the nine CMHA Regions in Alberta Rural Mental Health Alberta Division has committed its time and resources to looking closely at challenges related to access, continuity, effectiveness and efficiency within the Mental Health system(s) that support positive change and well-being for Albertans. This is true, in particular, for thousands of Albertans who live in rural and remote communities, for whom access to services and supports is often out of reach. STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

Workplace Mental Health Training
