Misket-MarblesIn these games, players shoot their marbles—small, colored glass balls—at their opponents' marbles. How We Play the Game? Before beginning the game, we drew a triangle. The size depended on the number of marbles we had. After putting all our marbles into the triangle, we shot our favorite marble at the others so that we could win some marbles by throwing the others out of the triangle. The game continued until all the marbles were gone.

Traditional Turkish Children's Games

Korebe: Blind Goat

It was a very popular game among 5- to 10-year old children. At the beginning of the game, one person is chosen to be 'it' , and then the eyes of that kid are covered with a kind of blindfold. When the game starts, the person who is 'it' —the blindfolded person—tries to catch the other kids. If someone is caught, that child becomes the new 'it' , and the game starts over. Every child in Turkey knows this game!

Uzun Essek: Long Donkey

Long Donkey players jump on top of the other players' backs. Long Donkey involves two teams. Both teams form lines in which each person leans over and holds onto the person in front of them, forming one long line of backs facing upward. People from the other team jump on top of this line, attempting to knock it over. The team that remains standing with the largest number of people from the other team on top of it wins the game of Long Donkey.

Hand Slap- El Kızartmaca Oyunu

One child places her hands palms out in front of her. The second child places her hands palms down on top of the first child's hands. The child on the bottom tries to quickly slap the hands of the other child before she pulls them away. There is no real winner in this game.

Beş Taş -Five Stones

In the palm of her hand each girl holds five small round stones which she tosses in the air and tries to catch on the back of the hand. When four stones have fallen on the ground, one is retained in the hand and then tossed up. While it is in the air, with the same hand, she must grab the four stones that are on the ground and catch the one tossed before it reaches the ground. Then one stone is again tossed in the air and the four stones on the ground are grabbed one by one, each grab being preceded by the tossing and catching of a stone that is retained in the hand. This is repeated, grabbing two by two, then three and one, and then all together.
