18th October 2019 Edition 16
Strength Through Knowledge
To all of our families welcome back to Term 4. This term is notoriously very busy with lots of
activities going on. Throughout the school holidays and afterschool this week, many of our
students, along with Mrs Doherty and Mr Banks, have been rehearsing for next week’s
Musical, The X Factory. The X Factory will be held at the Xanten Theatre at Saint
Norbert’s, next Thursday evening from 6:30pm. Tickets are available from the front office.
The Musical forms part of our 17th Annual Art Exhibition ‘What Makes You Shine?’ The
exhibition opens next Wednesday, October 23 with a formal assembly at 10:00am.
Following the formal assembly, parents and special guests are invited to share the first
viewing of the exhibition, followed by morning tea. We welcome all of our community to this
event.
If you are unable to attend the opening, we hope to see you all at the Closing Assembly,
October 25 followed by the community event at 3:00pm. The P&C are organising a light
meal for parents and children, and the exhibition will remain open until 4:30pm. Everyone
can enjoy the DJ and dance the week away. Parents must accompany their children at this
event. Unaccompanied children will need to go home.
I would like to also welcome our three new education assistants Noraini Aman, Priyanka
Korukonda and Po Cheng and our new cleaner Elliot Geer to Queens Park Primary School
They will be with our school until the end of Term 4.
Parking across the road from the school.
I know parking is difficult around the school in the morning and afternoon. Unfortunately,
many parents are being fined for having their cars parked for too long and for parking their
cars in the ‘Kiss and Drop’ area outside of the school on Treasure Road. Also, parking at
the shops has now become a Tow-Away Zone. Please do not park in the shop carpark as
your car will be towed away. I urge all parents to ensure they follow the street signs in
regard to parking.

Terrific Kids
Keenan has been nominated for the Terrific Kid Award because he has made excellent progress in his behaviour
and overall attitude towards his learning. When first starting in Room 17 Keenan did not want to participate in
classroom lessons or activities. Through his hard work and
determination Keenan is now participating and completing class activities to the best
standard he is able to achieve. He is coming into class happy and energised and is ready to learn. Keenan has continued to make good choices within his English and
Mathematics and is writing and answering more questions
than ever. He is becoming proud of his work and achievements and wants to show others his
accomplishments. Keenan, you have made excellent progress this year and I know it will continue on to next
year and you will be able to achieve whatever you set your mind to. Well done Keenan.
Miss Watson
Room 3
This student has made a fantastic journey during his last two years at Queens Park Primary School. He has become a trustworthy student who can
be relied upon to make good choices, both in the classroom and in the playground.
He has learned to control his reaction to emotive situations and make a
responsible decision about his behaviour.
In Room 5 he demonstrates a positive approach to all his work and is a very conscientious class member. He regularly contributes to group discussions
with thoughtful and insightful comments and works cooperatively with his peers, always getting the job done.
Congratulations on all your hard work.
You have earned the honor of being selected as a Queens Park Terrific Kid.
Mitchell Allen.

For the last assembly of Term 3 some of our talented Year 6 actors presented a short skit about that week’s PATHS Question. The question was: One of your classmates is angry. When you ask them about it they say they are mad about something that happened last week. They didn’t say anything about it when it happened, but they’ve been thinking about it ever since then and don’t know how to talk about it. What is the problem? How would you feel? What could you do to solve the problem? What would you decide to try first? The Year 6 students spent some time discussing the question and together they produced the skit to provide a possible solution. Well done to Rayanne, Hayden, Derek and Jersey for their hard work! Kind regards Ian Banks Oral Language/ Drama Teacher Queens Park Primary School

Welcome back! Two weeks from our Day for Daniel Fun Run and we’re still a long way from reaching our target of $1000! Hopefully students were using their student profile pages at dayfordanielfunrun.com.au over the holidays to get the most out of the fundraiser. If you haven’t yet started fundraising then get your student profile set-up today because every dollar counts! The money raised will go toward building safer communities for our children. The Daniel Morcombe Foundation aims to educate individuals and communities on safety strategies for children as well as supporting victims of child related crime. Through our Day for Daniel Fun Run we hope to support them in their mission and make Australia a safer place for all children. We urge you to make your online profile and keep sharing your online fundraising link! We would love some volunteers on the day, so please speak to Mr Goodhill or Mrs McLeod if you can help us have an amazing day! If you can’t help, we’d still love to have you come down and cheer the kids on for an important cause! HOW TO ORDER YOUR PRIZE: Between the 1st to 8th November simply visit dayfordanielfunrun.com.au and create / log into your Profile Page. Then click on the ‘ORDER PRIZES’ button and follow the prompts. If you have any questions, please contact the School Fun Run team on 1800 386 786 and
they will gladly assist!

The X Factory St Dithers is a good school with good students and good teachers. Unfortunately being good, isn’t expectable anymore. Only Outstanding is. Following an OFSET inspection the school has been labelled 'Average' and is in grave danger of being closed down. The governors, worried about the fate of their school and with only 6 weeks to turn things around, decide to take drastic action. They realise that improving the school in that length of time would be impossible and that it would be easier to replace the principal, the teachers and most of the students, with 'super-talented' ones. A new Principal, Simone Trowel, is appointed with the intention of making the school into a hub for young super stars who will one day be on TV reality shows and dominate show business forever! New 'super-teachers' are brought in from the world of 'show biz reality TV shows' and include: Will.I.Was, Cherri Cola, Dusty Barrel, Bruno Macaroni and Craig Rebel-Cardboard. Refusing to be called ‘Average’, the original students team up to fight back and save their school. They realise they’re in trouble when the most talent they have between them is an impression of a tree…. Will they be able to prove to the OFSET team that they’re not average???? Under the direction of Mrs Doherty and Mr Banks, the QPPS choir are embarking on the first ever performance of a musical. The one and only performance will take place at the Xanten Theatre at St Norbert's on the 24thth of October from 6:30 – 7:30. Light refreshments will be available after the performance. Tickets are $8 for Adults and $5 for Children (Children under 5 are free). Tickets can be purchased from Week 1 Term 4 from the QPPS Admin.
