Strengthening and development of Earth Observaon acvies for the environment in the Balkan area www.observe-fp7.eu Our Vision OBSERVE project has the vision of establishing a new Balkan EO com- munity of mullevel stakeholders that will make use of state of the art technological developments, products and knowhow from the exisng European EO community and industry. The need for Coordinaon Balkan countries, except Greece, are not ESA members. Therefore, space related acvies, including Earth Observaon and the related programs, are coordinated only at naonal level. GMES is the major joint EC and ESA space program, thus in- volving the need of coordinaon Contribuon to GEO Albania, Serbia, Bulgaria, FYROM, Montenegro and Bosnia Herzegovina are also not members of the GEO, therefore any coordinaon and capacity development acon deployed in those countries, targeng the acve involvement of naonal government officials, decision makers and local instuons will subsequently lead to internal dynamic processes favouring the parcipaon to the GEO.
