PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Preschool and Kindergarten Enrolments for 2020
If someone you know has a child
turning 5 before July 31, 2020
they are eligible to enrol in
Kindergarten next year. Please
visit our school office between
8.30am and 3.00pm Monday to
Friday to collect an application
form. Completed application
forms should be returned to the school office together with your child’s
original Birth Certificate, current Immunisation Certificate and proof of
residential address.
Our Preschool program is open to children the year before they begin
Kindergarten. Please contact our office for an Expression of Interest for
2020.
Stewart House
Thank you to all of the families who donated clothing for the Stewart House
Appeal. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
Parking around the School
Can I ask that parents please be careful
when driving and parking around the school
grounds. A number of parents are U-Turning
in the staff carpark driveways and in front of
the pedestrian crossing both dangerous
actions which can cause an accident. Also
the speed limit around drop off and pickup
times is 40km/h for child safety.
Whole School Assembly
Our next whole school assembly will take place next Wednesday, 25th Sep-
tember, 2019. Our Special Education classes will be performing and running
our assembly. It starts at 1.50pm and parents and carers are welcome to
attend.
STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE
Student Attendance
The Home School Liaison Officer has been in to our school recently and has noted a number of students
with unexplained absences. Parents of children from Kindergarten to Year 6 must ensure their children
attend school every day. On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for
student absences may include:
being sick or having an infectious disease
having an unavoidable medical appointment
being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
exceptional or urgent family circumstances e.g. attending a funeral
Parents must provide an explanation for absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any
period of absence. Where an explanation has not been received within the 7-day timeframe, the school will
record the absence as unjustified on the student’s record.
Stage 3 Camp
Stage 3 Camp is in Week 4 next term. Parents were given a letter with a link for Medical and Dietary
requirements for your child. This needs to be filled out as soon as possible. The link can be found on the
Notes page of the School Website.
Reminder that your outstanding balance needs to be paid by Wednesday 23rd October unless prior
arrangements have been made.
Finally, on our last day this term Friday, 27th September, 2019, we are holding a school disco through the
day for all students to attend. A big thank you to the Kingswood South P&C who will be selling popcorn,
drinks and glow sticks for the students to enhance their disco experience.
School resumes for Term 4 on Monday the 14th October, 2019. Have a safe and enjoyable school holiday.

As the term is coming to a close please look at home for any library books and re-
turn them to the library. Holidays are a great time to read a book or two, so please
encourage your children to return their books and borrow so they have something
enjoyable to read during the break.
New titles in the library:
Term three is coming to a close!
What a wonderful term we have had! Book Character Parade and a Book Fair, and in the library we have read an amazing assortment of quality literature. We have discussed how stories work, how they make us feel and how they connect us to each other. We have read imaginative texts, information texts and true stories.

We have almost made it to the end of Term 3. A huge thanks to all parents/carers who have supported the P&C this year. Without you we would not be able to give as much back to the school. Silver coin roundup will finish at the end of this term, get your coins in for a chance to win a class party. Top three classes will win a class party to be held in Term 4. Uniform Shop is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings 8.30am – 9.15. If you can help on any of these days please see Donna Fry. The uniform shop will be closed on Thursday 18th and Thursday 26th. School Banking is Thursday morning. If you can help please see Debbie Witek. We are also looking for a secretary for the P&C. If you want to give it a go please see Leigh Gozzard. The P&C will be selling the following at lunchtime on the Friday 27th September. Popper juice + chips + glow band for $5. We will have extra glow bands for $1 each. We hope all the kids enjoy the end of term disco. Our next P&C Meeting will be Wednesday 16th October at 7pm in the school library. We hope to see you all there. Everyone is welcome. P&C Committee
