How Does a Smart Farm Fence Save You Time and Money? It’s easy …By replacing every second post with a Lightning Fence Dropper, you:

Save $$$ … on Materialn A quality fence post is 2 to 4 times the price of a Lightning Fence Dropper.

Save $$$ … on Labourn It takes over a minute to install and attach wire to a post and less than 10 seconds

to install a Lightning Fence Dropper.

Save $$$ … on Transportn 1,000 star posts weigh approx. 3,400 kg.n 1,000 Lightning Fence Droppers weigh less than 200 kg.

Help Save the Environmentn Making the wire for a Lightning Fence Dropper produces less than 1/20th of the

air pollution created making a steel post.

elasticity imposing less strain on your posts when impacted by an animal.n An elastic fence bounces back after an animal strike resulting in a very low

maintenance fence.Find out how much you’ll save on our price comparison at www.fencedropper.com

The History of Lightning Fence Droppers

50 Years

Fence Dropper: A light vertical component supported by the line wires in a post-and-wire fence, and not embedded in the ground. Droppers serve several functions: to keep the wires spaced, to provide a visible signal that a fence exists, to minimise the use of posts, and thus save costs.Almost 150 different fence dropper designs have been patented in Australia, since the 1890s to about 1914, but fewer than 50 have ever manufactured and sold in large numbers.Lightning Dropper: A trade name for a particular form of wire dropper which can be easily added to a fence. Manufactured and sold by National Nails Pty Ltd (now Hi Tensile) in the late 1960s, the name seems to now be applied to almost any wire dropper of similar form. (Source: Illustrated Glossary of Australian Rural Fence Terms – Page 49, 50, 83)

Sometime in 1966: First designs created.9th October 1968: After a few years of testing and refining, the patent for the Lightning Fence Dropper was submitted by the late Roger Sachs of Mayne Industries in Brisbane.Previous designs of fence droppers were awkward and time consuming to install. If you weren’t careful you would staple your fingers or poke your eyes out.1992: Nick Sachs takes over the running of National Nails/Lightning Fence droppers after the passing of his father Roger.1998: Lightning Fence Droppers expands its distribution network and increases sales to over 1,000,000 droppers each year throughout Australia. Now, in 2016, 50 years later, very little has changed. The design is the same but the manufacturing process has improved now to use only dedicated machines instead of 5 big noisy old clunkers. Some of our existing clients are farmers that have had our fence droppers working for them for over 40 years.
