Through your generous sharing, you just may be the answer to someone’s prayer.

SLOW BEGINNINGS . . .

This week our Catholic schools begin the new year. Slow but sure . . . trying to get things "back." I hope you

join me in prayer to our God for a safe, healthy and holy start to a new school year for our young people, not only for

those in our Catholic schools, but for those in our parish attending our public schools when they open in the weeks to

come.

Our parish's Religious Education year will also be starting up in the month of September. It's going to take

some re-formatting and adaptability to make it work, but we'll do what needs to be done. I know that some of our

parents will take the RE demands for the year and teach it themselves at home to their kids – and I thank those parents

for that. Every little bit we can take on ourselves helps the entire parish family. And I thank those parents who are

entrusting this year's RE to our parish catechists as they have done year after year – know that we will do our best to

serve you in this way. Our Catholic following of Jesus Christ is simply too important to be interrupted and diverted by any particular

obstacle that is thrown at us. And this year of 2020 has thrown a lot of obstacles, hasn't it? But working together, we will make things

work with the help of Our God and His Church.

* * *

Next month our parish will also begin its usual tradition of beginning a new year of sessions for the Rite of

Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA. These RCIA sessions are for those who are not Catholic at this time, either as

one who is a non-Catholic Christian looking to join the fullness of the Catholic Church, or for one who is unbaptized

looking to be joined to the Body of Christ through baptism in the Catholic Church. We also welcome to RCIA those

already Catholic but who never received the Sacrament of Confirmation and wish to do so now.

The RCIA sessions will begin on Thursday, September 10, and will be held every Thursday evening throughout the year from

7:00 – 9:00 p.m. (with the exception of holidays and other "breaks" throughout the course of the year). We will be able to provide

proper social distancing during these sessions, but they are in-person and cannot be done virtually.

Please keep this new RCIA year in mind and if you meet someone who might be interested in attending, have them contact us

in the parish office. Every year we have any number of folks who come to realize that "this is the year" they are going to attend RCIA

and find out once and for all whether this Catholic thing is for them or not. If you are able to bring one of them to the kind of faith

decision that gets them to take part in this, you have done a work of evangelization in bringing another to meet Christ in this process.

Pray for that person to be made known to you – and pray that you are able to help them decide to come this year.

* * *

Although some things in the life of the parish have begun to return, there are others that still need to be put on

hold. One of the latter are the monthly breakfasts of the Knights of Columbus. This past week a decision was made to

not offer these fun and fine meals at the present time. As with a lot of things right now, we hope "some time in the

future" to bring them back, but for now we will just have to miss them.

* * *

Finally, a decision was also made this past week to resume the Adoration program in the month of September.

You will hear more about that later. If there are some in our parish who have not been able to be part of that program

up to this time, but who would like to, the opportunity will arise in the weeks to come. I hope many new adorers can

join us. There is definitely a lot to pray to Our Lord Jesus about these days, isn't there?

Catholic Charities Crib Project from August 28-September 7 - Catholic Charities North Dakota offers Pregnancy, Parenting and Adoption Services (PPAS). Any person with an unexpected pregnancy can receive services through the PPAS program. When a mom chooses to parent her child, Catholic Charities North Dakota works to help educate and prepare her for her new baby. However, there is often a significant need for supplies to properly care for a new baby.

You can be a part of this important program by helping to supply new or gently used baby items in the crib in the Gathering Space. Diapers and clothes for newborns up to 18 months, baby wipes and cream, bottles, pacifiers, baby wash, infant Tylenol, and blankets are needed. Most other baby items are welcome as well. We ask that no baby food or formula donations be made, babies often need a specific type. Gift cards or financial donations are welcomed to help purchase those items.

Thank you very much for your support of our local moms! If you have questions or want to learn more please visit our website at: www.CatholicCharitiesND.org or call 235-4457.

What is the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)?

A program designed for non-Catholics who wish to learn more about the Catholic Church and for their Catholic friend or spouse. The process prepares you to become a member of the Catholic Church, if you so desire.

Fr. Duchschere leads this program. Sessions include an overview of assigned material, questions, answers, and discussions.

RCIA sessions are held at Church beginning Thursday, September 10, 7 to 9 p.m. Subsequent classes are every Thursday through mid-May 2021, with breaks during holidays. To help us prepare for class, please call Connie Dulany at church (235-5757) to register.

We extend our sympathy to Maria, Scott, Alexander Manz, Hannah Manz and Haley Hennen on the death of their sister, sister-in-law and aunt, Kari Kolstoe.

And to Mark and Callie on the death of their baby, Faith Anna Feeney.

May they rest in peace with God.
