Stuart DavisAmerican Painter, 1894-1964
•Born in Philadelphia, Penn.•His mother was a sculptor & his father was an art editor for a newspaper.
Early Work1917-1922
He became famous for his hard-edge paintingsand abstract still-life paintings and landscapes.
