EMBRYOLOGICAL FEATURES: amnion, chorion, allantois, yolk sac.

ANATOMICAL FEATURES: lack of an intertemporal bone.

ALSO, FUNCTIONAL FEATURES: • Costal breathing (inhaling using movement of the ribs).• Active exhalation using movement of ribs to push air out.
