Item 1 A/B Schedule: Due to no school on Monday, we are adjusting our A/B schedule:

Tuesday (B), Wednesday (B), Thursday (A), Friday (A)

Item 2 Falcon Smart applications are due August 25th and are located on the Falcon Smart

bulletin board. Falcon Smart is a SLMS club that offers tons of fun activities that are drug,

alcohol and tobacco free; including, skate nights, bowling nights, Tug-of-War, and the

Dodgeball Tournament. We meet once a month for fun games and of course FREE

DONUTS! Please join us.

Item 3 School Photos: 7th grade student photos will be taken on Wednesday, August 23rd.

8th grade student photos will be taken on Thursday, August 24th. Proofs and ordering

information will be mailed home from Haub Studio.

Item 4 Attendance/Absences If your student is absent from school, or will be late to school, please call the Attendance

Office (986-1377) before 9:00am on the day of the absence. We need your name, your

student’s name and grade, and the reason for the absence or late arrival. The attendance

line is set up with voice mail so you can leave a message 24 hours a day.

Item 5 Checking Your Student In or Out

Checking In: If the student is checking in late to school, please call the Attendance Office

(986-1377) before he/she arrives to indicate the reason for late arrival. You will not have

to come in to the office with your student if you have called ahead.

Checking Out: If you need to check your student out of school, you must come to the

office and sign him/her out. We will call your student out of class to come to the office to

meet you.

Item 6 Lost and Found: Please make sure ALL water bottles and lunch boxes are marked with

first and last name.

Item 7 Car Riders: All drop-offs and pick-ups will be in the back of the building. In order to

help with congestion in the mornings and afternoons, please pull as far forward as you can

to allow for multiple drop-offs and pick-ups at the same time. Please see attached map.

Item 8 Bus Notes: For students who wish to ride the bus home with another student, BOTH

students must bring a parent signed bus note to Student Administration by 4th hour. The

student who has the transportation change will receive a bus pass for that day to give to

the bus driver.

Item 9 Student Council Applications are due to Mrs. Lilly or Mr. Campbell on Friday, August

25th. They are located on the Student Council bulletin board.

Item 10 Seussical the Musical Auditions are coming up! Auditions and Stage/Tech Crew

Forms are available on the Theatre Board near the Falcon! Come one, come all!

Stage/Tech Crew Applications are due Thursday, August 24th

Audition dates are:

Tuesday, August 22nd: ALL BOYS (7th and 8th) and GIRLS A-L until 5:00 PM

Wednesday, August 23rd: GIRLS M-Z (7th and 8th) until 5:00 PM

Thursday, August 24th: CALL BACKS (some students, if necessary) until 5:00 PM

Friday, August 25th: FINAL CALL BACKS (some students, if necessary) until 5:00 PM

Rehearsals Start: Monday, August 28th after school

Item 11 School Trip: Don’t miss out on the SLMS trip to New York City! Trip dates are May 31-

June 2, 2018 with a registration deadline of November 2017. For more information

Item 14 Skate Night: The first 3-Middle School Skate Night is on August 31st. Join SLMS,

BCMS and PLMS students for a fun evening of skating at Landmark Skate. The event

runs from 6:00-8:00pm and costs $6.00 at the door. This event is sponsored by Lee’s

Summit Cares and is a great way to celebrate having the first month of the school year

under our belt.
