19th April: PRESENTATION FIELD TRIP ECUADOR
These presentations were made by all members of the chapter, who participated in Field Trip to Ecuador; In which the geological, structural and mineralogical characteristics of the projects and mines visited in Ecuador were shown. (33 participants)
These presentations made after each Field Trip, is a good practice that is followed so that knowledge is shared and everyone can be benefited in one way or another
II. FIELD TRIPS (2017)
2th -9th April: I FIELD TRIP ECUADOR, In the Field Trip Ecuador there was the participation of 3 Student Chapter's: SEG Student Chapter UNMSM (Peru), SEG Student Chapter UNE (Ecuador) and SEG Student Chapter UNAB (Colombia), was a very enriching experience in which the geology was known Of the strategic mining projects in Ecuador, and technical aspects of the processes and procedures followed from diamond drilling (Loma Larga Proyect) to the construction of the concentrator plant (El Mirador Proyect). In addition, they were able to exchange ideas, share experiences and strengthen ties of friendship between the members of the SEG Peru, Ecuador and Colombian.
SEG UNMSM (PERÚ) -SEG UNE (ECUADOR) -SEG UNAB (COLOMBIA) 23th April Cartography in Yangas by Ing. Luis Ayala We headed to the Yangas area located in the district of Santa Rosa de Quives, province of Canta, in the region of Lima. Here we apply the knowledge infused in the theoretical part and ended up mapping a small part of the zone of Yangas. (15 participants) .

27th May: FIELD TRIP TO SAN VICENTE MINE By Ing. Jhon Huamán
On May of 2017, fourteen student members of the student chapter visited the mississippi-valley type Pb-Zn deposits located in calcareous rocks of mesozoic age with orientation N-S and dip west. This time, the students were taken to the field in order to teach about this type of mineralization We learned about mineral identification (sphalerite, Dolomite, Galena), carbonate textures, weathering processes and economic geology.
15th -16th June: FIELD TRIP TO CUAJONE AND CERRO VERDE MINES By Msc. Andres Yparraguirre This visit was very interesting. Cuajone and Cerro Verde Mines is one of the most representatives of our country of the porphyry deposits with mineralization of Cu+ Mo. We had a presentation of the geology of the deposit, they explained us the geology of the mine open pit, they showed us some samples of drill cores, and we learned to recognized Alteration zoning and sequence of Copper Porphyric. (12 participants)
17th -19th November: REGIONAL GEOLOGICAL CONTEXT OF THE LOCATION OF THE LAGUNAS NORTE AND LA ARENA DEPOSITS By Ing. Enrique Fernandez
The idea of this trip was to get a regional concept and understand the main features for mapping. After this, make a delineation for interesting targets of exploration. Therefore Ing. Enrique Fernandez Provides students of the area of economic geology and students of geology and geological engineering, the opportunity to know the Genesis and the relationship of the deposits of LA ARENA and LAGUNAS NORTE and at the same time strengthen ties and exchange knowledge among the students involved. (30 participants)
III. ORGANIZATION OF CONFERENCES AND COURSES (2016)
This theoretical-practical course was carried out by Marcelo Imaña, who is a consultant geologist and has worked for the Cerro Lindo mine (VMS), was developed in 2 days, the practical part being the most important and expected by us, since Was able to learn more about the technique of logging. (20 participants)
This course was co-organized by the SGA Student Chapter UNMSM
21th April: Cartography Course by Ing. Luis Ayala, The theoretical part of the course of cartography, where we were taught the basic parts that one of knowing to be able to carry out a good mapping; we were also given the guidelines to follow for the field trip, where we would apply what was learned in the theoretical course.
22th April: Life Cycle of the Mine by Ing. Yanlui Velásquez The conference on the cycle of the life of the mine was carried out where the engineer Yanlui explained the processes through which the mine passes from its beginning and closing, also told us anecdotes in his area of work giving us a great Teaches and a very good experience to be able to apply it in our future as geologists.
23th-25th May: Structural geology applied to mining exploration by Dr. Jose Machare, Ms. Anna Fonseca and Ing. Luis Ayala -6th Anniversar
12th-14th June: Remote Sensing and Geochemistry Applied to Mining Exploration by Ms. Luciano Bocanegra-Seg Mentor and Alejandro Caballero
Conference together with SEG-UNMSM, SEG UNI, SEG UNSAC and SEG UNSA
23th-27th July: Use of Hydrothermal Alteration (assemblies, conditions and chemistry) by Dr. Kierran Maher
12th-14th August: SEG Lecture together with SEG UNI about Future Exploration How we will need to explore? Dan Wood
IV. RESOURCES Structural and geochemical analysis of the Cordillera La Viuda Together with other colleagues we are making a paper about the Geology of the Cordillera Negra of Peru with an economic approach, with the objective to propose a new structural criterion to explain the epithermal mineralization in that place. In order to identify new prospective areas that lead to the discovery of important gold deposits similar to Yanacocha and Pierina both high sulphuration epithermal. Currently the bibliographic compilation is being carried out, which will lead to a poserior field work scheduled for May (6 participants).
Lithogeochemistry in the Ravine La Mina
The research work has as a purpose to make a geochemical and litho-chemical characterization of the area as well as to see more details the anomalies of copper and gold that are veriflicables in GEOCATMIN and to see the possibility if it can be a prospectable area for a mining project. (5 participants)
V. PARTICIPATION IN CONFERENCES AND COURSES (2017)
8th -10th May: Proexplo 2017 in Lima-Peru
VI. FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES & EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
2nd February, we organized a barbecues to sell and earn money to organize and to materialize some activities as courses and fieldtrips.
26th March: CONFRATERNITY This activity was arranging to fraternize with all the members of the chapter, Professionals of the mining industry and the academy of Geology
Finally, we really want to thank the Society of Economic Geologists for the academic, professional and economic support. Currently, our chapter is very strong thanks to our effort and your help.

Report of the use of Stewart R. Wallance Fund Round 2017-I
SEG Student Chapter Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos
Field trip to San Vicente, Cerro Verde and Cuajone Mines.
Thanks to the Round I 2017 Student Chapter Funding from the Stewart R. Wallace Fund, our Student Chapter organized two field trips, the first was to San Vicente Mine and the second trip could visit 2 of the world class porphyry deposits in our country, these are Cuajone and Cerro Verde owned and operated by Southern Copper Peru Corporation (GRUPO MEXICO) and Freeport McMoran respectively. These activities were developed in May 27th and June 15th, 16th.
It was very unfortunate that we could not visit the Cuajone, Toquepala mine programmed for 30th, 31th of May, at the last moment the company was canceled the visit by social problems (strike), and we decided to arrange the visit for 15th and 16th of June, those day were given by the mine but Toquepala Mine couldn’t that day so we had to change for the Cerro Verde Mine, therefore we had to arrange two field trips.
The amount of USD 1500.00 was used in different ways (Cost of Transports exclusively) for the first field trip by 13 students, and the second field trip by11 students that have participated in this fieldtrip.
