STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR NATIONAL COMPETITION

JUDGE QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE

PLEASE USE THE JUDGING CRITERIA TO EVALUATE ALL STUDENT ENTREPRENEURS

COMPETITION FORMAT Written Report Each student entrepreneur is required to create a written report that outlines all aspects of the business, and explains how they have met the judging criteria. Written reports are limited to a total of four (4) printed pages on 8½” x 11” sized paper. If a cover page is used, it will be counted as one of the four (4) pages. They are also allowed one (1) printed 8 ½” x 11” page insert summarizing the financial results of the business. Any confidential financial information should be included on this sheet. Live Presentation Each student entrepreneur will have a twenty-eight (28) minute time block to deliver a live audio/visual presentation to the judges. After the student entrepreneur is introduced, the structure will be as follows: Five (5) Minutes Equipment set-up and written report distribution Twelve(12) Minutes Live audio/visual presentation Ten (10) Minutes Questions and answer period One (1) Minute Equipment tear-down and student exits room NOTE: An Enactus assigned League Coordinator will keep track of the time.

JUDGING PROCESS 1. During the set-up period, the student entrepreneur will distribute their written report. At this time, take out a

green Individual Evaluation Sheet and write the name of the competing student in the space provided. As well, use this time to read the written report.

NOTE: Make notes on this green Individual Evaluation Sheet throughout the presentation, keeping in mind that the students will use these comments to help improve their businesses and presentations, positive constructive feedback is encouraged.

2. After each student entrepreneur has completed their twenty-eight (28) minute presentation time block, fill out

the yellow Cumulative Score Sheet, assigning a point value for all criteria for each student entrepreneur. Repeat steps 1-2 for all competing student entrepreneurs. 3. After you have seen all the presentations in their entirety, on the yellow Cumulative Score Sheet rank the

student entrepreneurs in order of preference with one (1) being the best.

NOTE: A tie between two or more student entrepreneurs is not permitted. Please rank each presentation from first to last, assigning no two students with the same rank.

4. Once you have completed your rankings, write a student entrepreneurs name next to each ranking at the

bottom of the yellow Cumulative Score Sheet. Once every judge has made their decision, the League Coordinator will begin the process of tabulating the results. Please do not discuss your rankings with other judges during this time.

5. Hand in all your green Individual Evaluation Sheets and your yellow Cumulative Score Sheet to the League

Coordinator.

In consideration for the student entrepreneur applicant (the Discloser), we ask the Student Entrepreneur National Competition Judge (The Receiver) to abide by the following: 1. Disclosure. Discloser agrees to disclose, and Receiver agrees to receive the Confidential Information. 2. Confidentiality.

No Use. Recipient agrees not to use the Confidential Information in any way, or to manufacture or test any product embodying Confidential Information, except for the purpose set forth above.

No Disclosure. Recipient agrees to use its best efforts to prevent and protect the Confidential Information, or any part thereof, from disclosure to any person other than Recipient's employees having a need for disclosure in connection with Recipient's authorized use of the Confidential Information.

Protection of Secrecy. Recipient agrees to take all steps reasonably necessary to protect the secrecy of the Confidential Information, and to prevent the Confidential Information from falling into the public domain or into the possession of unauthorized persons.

3. Limits on Confidential Information. Confidential Information shall not be deemed proprietary and the Recipient shall have no obligation with respect to such information where the information:

Was known to Recipient prior to receiving any of the Confidential Information from Discloser;

Has become publicly known through no wrongful act of Recipient;

Was received by Recipient without breach of this Agreement from a third party without restriction as to the use and disclosure of the information;

Was independently developed by Recipient without use of the Confidential Information; or

Was ordered to be publicly released by the requirement of a government agency. 4. Ownership of Confidential Information. Recipient agrees that all Confidential Information shall remain the property of Discloser, and that Discloser may use such Confidential Information for any purpose without obligation to Recipient. Nothing contained herein shall be construed as granting or implying any transfer of rights to Recipient in the Confidential Information, or any patents or other intellectual property protecting or relating to the Confidential Information. 5. Term and Termination. The obligations of this Agreement shall be continuing until the judging of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition is completed.
