Who’s Who Award Criteria
Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges is a national award that has been bestowed
upon 22 Buffalo State College students for the 2014-2015 academic year. Who’s Who award recipients are chosen
each year based on a combination of academic success, campus leadership, and community involvement. We
thank you for joining us today as we recognize these outstanding scholars and leaders.
Undergraduate Who’s Who Recipients
Diamond Briggs Diamond Briggs is a senior majoring in
Sociology with a GPA of 3.92. She served as
secretary of the African American Student
Organization and is a member of Step Expressions and the Fashion Students
Association. A member of the Muriel A.
Howard Honors Program, a McNair Scholar and EOP student, Diamond hosted the EOP Honor’s
Convocation in 2013 and is an Academic Mentor
for the EOP program.
Rebecca Cannizzaro
Rebecca Cannizzaro is a junior majoring in
Theatre with a minor in Dance and a 3.82 GPA. She has participated in the Study Abroad
program in Kigali, Rwanda for the Anne Frank
Project and at the University of South Australia. She volunteers with the Anne Frank Project,
SPCA, and the Buffalo Zoo.
Alexis Childs
Alexis Childs is a senior majoring in Criminal
Justice with minors in Political Science and
Legal Studies. She has a 3.15 GPA and is the USG AVP for Student Life, serving as chair of
the Spring Fest program committee. Alexis is an
Orientation Leader and a Mentor in the NIA Mentoring Program. She volunteers at the
Somali Bantu Community Center.
Veronica Darlow Veronica Darlow is a senior Psychology major
with a 3.84 GPA. A member of the Muriel A.
Howard Honors Program, Veronica has earned Dean’s List distinction every semester. She
serves as a teaching assistant for Psychology and
was treasurer and secretary of Psi Chi, the
Psychology honor society. Veronica presented research at the Eastern Psychological Association
and participates in events to support cancer
research.
Chelsea Davidson
Chelsea Davidson is a senior majoring in
Exceptional and Elementary Education with a 3.86 GPA. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the
National Education Honor Society and the Student
Council for Exceptional Children. She is also captain of the Cross Country team, the Indoor and
Outdoor Track and Field teams and volunteers to
support the Special Olympics.
Crystal Holmes-Smith
Crystal Holmes-Smith is a senior majoring in
Elementary Education and Reading with a 3.2 GPA. She served as president, secretary and
treasurer for Step Expressions and volunteers at the
Global Book Hour and Club HolA. She was a Dr. Aaron Podolefsky Summer Research Fellowship
Recipient and presented at the Anne Frank
Project’s annual conference and the Professional
Development Schools Consortium Retreat.
Stephanie Kahn
Stephanie Kahn is a senior majoring in Metals/Jewelry Design with minors in Sociology and
Creative Studies. She has a 3.63 GPA and is a
member of the Muriel A. Howard Honors Program,
the Sigma Alpha Pi National Society of Leadership and Success, and the Alpha Lambda Delta National
First-Year Honor Society. Her work has been
presented at numerous juried exhibits both on- and off-campus.
Maria Lema
Maria Lema is a junior with double majors in
Mathematics and Philosophy and a 3.9 GPA. She
has been a Calculus Teacher Assistant, a Math Tutor and a member of the Xquizit Movers step team.
Maria participates in the Emerging Student Leaders
Program and the Alternative Break Program, working with the Buffalo City Mission.
Emily Leminger Emily Leminger is a junior majoring in Music
Education who has earned a 3.18 GPA. Currently
the Executive Vice President/ Chief Operating
Officer of USG, Emily is a member the Music Department’s student advisory committee. She is
Peer Leader in the COMPASS program and is
Buffalo State’s representative to the SUNY Student Assembly.
Amy Marciniak Amy Marciniak is a senior majoring in Childhood
Education with a 3.94 GPA. She serves as Buffalo
State’s student liaison to the Professional
Development Schools Consortium and is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society and
an officer of USG. She served as co-president of the
Elementary Education Club (EEC) and participates in the Global Book Hour and the “Teacher Tailgate”
events.
James Martin James Martin is a senior majoring in Forensic
Chemistry with a 3.91 GPA. He is a member of the
Muriel A. Howard Honors Program and the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program, and participated in
McNair Summer Research programs on campus and
at Michigan State University. He received the Residence Life Award for Outstanding Academic
Achievement and the NIA Program’s Mentor of the
Year award.
Undergraduate Who’s Who Recipients
Georgia Mavrogeorgis
Georgia Mavrogeorgis a junior studying Public
Communication with a minor in Creative Studies.
She has a 3.4 GPA and is a Student Ambassador for the admissions office. Georgia was a First
Year Mentor of the Resident Halls and a member
of the Delta Phi Zeta sorority and was selected as a NASPA Undergraduate Fellow.
Sarah Minkewicz Sarah Minkewicz is a senior majoring in
Journalism with a GPA of 3.19. Currently the
news section editor of The Record, Sarah has
interned for WIVB – Channel 4 and Time Warner Cable News. She studied abroad in
Istanbul, Turkey and has volunteered for the
Salvation Army red kettle program.
Janey Nemard
Janey Nemard is a senior majoring in Business Administration with a 3.2 GPA. She is a Resident
Assistant as well as Vice Treasurer of USG.
Janey has volunteered with Buffalo City Mission
and served as an assistant in the Orientation office.
Shakila Randall Shakila Randall is a senior majoring in
Psychology with a 3.48 GPA. She is a Ronald E.
McNair Scholar and member of the Psi Chi
honor society for Psychology and the Chi Alpha Epsilon honor society. Shakila is a supervisor for
the UPD student assistant program and was an
intern at Compass House, supporting homeless youth.
Ashleigh-Ann Sutherland Ashleigh-Ann Sutherland is a senior Political
Science major with a 3.17 GPA. Currently the
President of the United Students’ Government
(USG) and a member of the College Senate, Ashleigh-Ann has interned with the office of
Senator Timothy Kennedy and at the Erie County
Legislature. She served as a Peer Leader for the COMPASS program and as a Mentor for the NIA
mentoring program.
Aaron Burgess
Aaron Burgess is a graduate student majoring in Art
Conservation. A native of New Zealand, Aaron is a member of the American Institute for Conservation
of Historic and Artistic Works. He has worked as a
conservation technician for the Denver Art Museum and is currently employed at the Detroit Art
Institute.
Kaitlyn Gardner
Kaitlyn Gardner is a graduate student majoring in
Childhood and Early Childhood Education with a
4.0 GPA. In January, 2015 she was a volunteer project leader for the Tres Marisposas Montessori
School in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, helping
produce classroom supplies and assisting teachers. Kaitlyn served as a graduate student representative
to the Professional Development Schools
Consortium.
Andrea Gustafson
Andrea Gustafson is a graduate student majoring in
Higher/Education/Student Affairs Administration with a 4.0 GPA. Currently President of the
Graduate Student Association and a member of the
College Senate, Andrea served as an intern in the Disability Services office and as a mentor for the
COMPASS program. She held internships at
D’Youville College as an academic advisor and at
Medaille College for the Student Support Services program.
Elizabeth Kuttesch Elizabeth Kuttesch is a graduate student majoring as
a Literacy Specialist, Birth – 12 in the Elementary
Education and Reading program. She has a 3.85 GPA and serves as the student representative on the
Professional Development Schools Consortium and
the Teacher Education Unit Professional Advisory
Council. Elizabeth has volunteered at the Buffalo History Museum and the Buffalo Public Schools
adult education program.
Ted Mallwitz
Ted Mallwitz is a graduate student majoring in
Higher/Education/Student Affairs Administration with a 4.0 GPA. He obtained a grant from the
SUNY Office of Special Programs to develop the
Inspire Creativity and Academic Success program for EOP, a mandatory, credit-bearing
course for incoming EOP students and served as
that program’s coordinator and instructor. He also served as logistics coordinator for the
Creative Studies Distance Program and the
Creativity Expert Exchange.
Jarron Mortimer
Jarron Mortimer is a graduate student majoring in
Higher/Education/Student Affairs Administration with a 3.72 GPA. He has been a graduate
assistant for the graduate school and the
Campbell Student Union and co-advisor for the Xquizit Movers Association, a student group he
founded while an undergraduate. He is a member
of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity and the
Association of College and University Housing Officers International.
Graduate Who’s Who Recipients
Phillip Santa Maria Award for
Student Leadership in Equity and Campus Diversity
For 25 years, Phillip Santa Maria served as Dean of Students at Buffalo State. During his
tenure, he was recognized both on campus and throughout the community for his leadership
on diversity and social justice issues. The Phillip Santa Maria Award for Student Leader-
ship in Equity and Campus Diversity was established in his honor to recognize students who
exemplify Dr. Santa Maria’s commitment to service, social justice, and diversity through
promoting respect for diversity and individual differences in their activities, projects, dis-
cussions, or their leadership with student organizations and groups.
Recipients
Keith Nuñez
Keith Nuñez has held leadership positions in Adelante Estudiantes Latinos (AEL) and as a resident
hall director for the Education Opportunity Program. He has been a role model for all students as well as students of color. Keith has displayed his commitment to helping a diverse population of
students through his fraternity, Phi Iota Alpha, which awards a $1,000.00 scholarship to a Buffalo
State student. Keith Nunez embodies the very essence of the Phillip Santa Maria Award, and we know that he will continue to make a difference in lives of many people.
Kristine Assue Kristine Assue has demonstrated leadership and a commitment to community engagement through
her work tutoring at the Buffalo State Community Academic Center and her role as a student leader
in the Alternate Spring Break Program, partnering with the Herman Badillo Bilinqual Academy. She has worked with refugee young adults and was a speaker at the Buffalo Humanities Festival.
Her record of service is a model for other students and points toward a bright future.
Luis M. Antonetti Student Humanitarian Award
Dr. Miguel A. Antonetti, Lydmia V. Santiago, family and friends established the Luis M.
Antonetti Student Humanitarian Award in memory of Luis M. Antonetti, whose life came to
an untimely and abrupt end on February 18, 2006. Luis was a sophomore at Buffalo State
majoring in biology/zoology. An active fraternity member of Zeta Beta Tau (ZBT), Luis was
very hardworking, family oriented and he shared his enthusiasm for life through his
dedication to his school work, his active involvement with ZBT and community service. Luis
was very charismatic with an ability to reach out to people from all walks of life, making him
well liked by faculty, staff and students.
The Luis M. Antonetti Award recognizes those unique students who affirm positive core values
that will influence future generation of students by their peace-seeking way of living, their
cultural acceptance of others and their giving of themselves to others through community
service. Through this award and the ideals by which he lived his life, Luis Antonetti will be
forever remembered and his life celebrated at Buffalo State College.
Recipient
Lazarus Lynch
Lazarus Lynch is a junior majoring in Individualized Studies and Public Communication. He is a
Youth Trustee for the National 4-H Youth Development Council, working alongside fellow trustees
who are international leaders in business, public policy and education, including, among others, Howard Buffet, of the Buffet family foundation; Ann Veneman, former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture
and E. Gordon Gee, President, West Virginia University. Through his national leadership on 4-H,
Lazarus helps young people improve themselves and their communities. He has studied abroad in
Kigali, Rwanda with the Anne Frank Project and was selected by the World Food Prize Foundation to conduct research on soy beans and phytoestrogens as an intern for the Chinese Academy of
Agricultural Sciences in Beijing, China. Lazarus worked as an intern in the office of Thomas Vilsack,
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, in Washington, D.C., organizing youth dialogues and contributing to department briefings. On campus, Lazarus is a peer educator for Health Promotions and he served as
assistant creative director for Take Back the Night in 2013. Most recently, he created the web-based
enterprise, www.sonofasouthernchef.com to promote his vision for healthy eating, healthy living and the need for others to commit themselves to improving our world.
Phillip Santa Maria Student Humanitarian Award
Phillip Santa Maria, Ph.D., served for twenty-five years as associate vice president and dean of students at
Buffalo State. A much-loved member of the college community, Dr. Santa Maria’s concern for students, his
commitment to the campus and his devotion to service in the community were evident in all his activities. The
Phillip Santa Maria Memorial Award was created in his honor to inspire others to pursue the same selfless qualities that characterized Dr. Santa Maria’s personal and professional life.
The Phillip Santa Maria Memorial Award recognizes a Buffalo State undergraduate student who has
demonstrated a well-rounded character, exhibiting not only scholastic achievement but also active participation in
campus life at Buffalo State and in the Western New York community and a desire to improve the world.
Recipient Crystal Holmes-Smith Crystal Holmes-Smith is a senior majoring in Elementary Education and Reading with a GPA of 3.20. During her
college career she was the president, treasurer, and secretary of Step Expressions and is a member of Club HolA
and volunteers with the Global Book Hour. She was a Dr. Aaron Podolefsky Summer Research Fellowship
Recipient and served as an Americorps volunteer for the Community Academic Center, helping lead the Center’s
Elementary Literacy and Arts after school program. Crystal developed a program for college and career
exploration that she provided for middle school students and she has presented at the Anne Frank Project’s annual
conference, at Buffalo State’s Student Research and Creativity Fair and at the Professional Development Schools
Consortium Retreat in Atlanta, GA.
The Minnie and Joe Engel Student Humanitarian Award was created through a gift to the College from
Mr. Bernard Engel to honor his aunt and uncle, Minnie and Joe Engel, who selflessly put others’ needs ahead of
their own and always strove to provide outstanding service for others. They instilled in Mr. Engel the same
qualities that have been the standard by which he lives his life and through this award he encourages others to do
the same. It is Mr. Bernard Engel’s hope that this award will have a positive influence on future generations of students by identifying positive role models who embody core values that support and enhance the quality of life in
our communities.
The Minnie and Joe Engel Student Humanitarian Award recognizes a Buffalo State undergraduate student who
has demonstrated personal character through altruism, volunteer service and the giving of oneself to the campus
and the larger community. The Engel Humanitarian Award recognizes the full measure of a person’s worth, not
just as a scholar, but as someone whose efforts on behalf of others define a quality of character that embodies core
values that merit recognition. Recipient
Allie Diamond Allie Diamond is a senior Fine Arts major with a minor in Art Therapy and a 3.64 GPA. She is a Ross B. Kenzie
Scholar and serves as “historian” for the Alternative Break Student Leadership Team, where she is leading efforts
to create a scholarship to help fund student participation in Alternative Break programs. Allie travelled with her
church community to teach English to young people in Ammon, Jordan and participated in the Josiah Venture Internship program in Latvia, where she served as an English coordinator for children from broken and
impoverished homes who attended the camp program. Allie participates in the Outdoors Ministry of Grace Point
Alliance church to help Buffalo’s homeless population.
Molly Diamond Molly Diamond is a senior majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a concentration in Integrative
Biology. She is a Ross B. Kenzie Scholar with a 3.30 GPA. Molly is a co-coordinator for the Career
Development Center’s Alternative Break program, focused on supporting WNY area veterans and people
experiencing homelessness. She was chosen as a site leader at the National Alternative Break Leadership
Conference in Baltimore, MD, leading direct service and reflection experiences for her fellow conference
participants. This experience allowed Molly to improve the site leader training that will be used to prepare future student leaders in Buffalo State’s Alternative Break program. She travelled to Haiti as a volunteer for the Children
of Promise orphanage and she volunteers in Buffalo for the Grace Point Alliance Church Outdoor Ministry, the
Campus Crusade for Christ and as a middle school youth group leader for Kenmore Alliance Church.
Minnie and Joe Engel Student Humanitarian Award
Mildred Campbell Student Leadership Award
Mildred Campbell was a significant benefactor of Buffalo State and gave years of dedicated service to the College
Council, Alumni Association and the Buffalo State College Foundation. After graduating from Buffalo State in
1928, Mildred Campbell went on to teach in the Buffalo public schools, the Buffalo Seminary and the University at
Buffalo.
Since Mildred Campbell once assessed her talent as “bringing people together,” it is highly appropriate that the
Student Union and Social Hall in the Student Union are both named in her honor. In recognition of her
contributions to the College, in 1980 Mildred Campbell was presented with the President’s Distinguished Service
Award. In 1985, she received the SUNY Board of Trustees Distinguished Citizen Award.
Having served more than 50 years in volunteer public service, in 1996 the Buffalo News named Mildred Campbell
“Outstanding Citizen of the Year.” The list of her religious, civic, interfaith, health and educational organization
board memberships and awards is inspiring. In recognition of her achievements, we bestow the Mildred Campbell
Leadership Award in her honor. Recipient
Ashleigh-Ann Sutherland
Born and raised in Jamaica, Ashleigh-Ann Sutherland is a senior Political Science major with a 3.17 GPA. As
President of the United Students’ Government (USG), Ashleigh-Ann oversees an annual budget of $1.2 million dollars, supervises the USG business office staff and serves as chair of the Executive Board and the USG Senate to
uphold the policies and procedures of the USG Constitution and By-Laws. Ashleigh-Ann has been a leader among
her fellow students throughout her college career. She began as a USG Senator, receiving Senator of the Year
award in 2012-13, and advanced to Speaker Pro-Tempore and member of the USG Executive Board in 2013-14.
She has been a member of the College Senate for three years and is the student representative on the governing
board for the Alumni Association. Ashleigh-Ann delivered the student address at the First Year Convocation and at
the Inauguration of President Katherine Conway-Turner. She is a McNair Scholar and member of the Pi Sigma
Alpha honor society and served as a Peer Leader for the COMPASS program and as a Mentor for the NIA
mentoring program. Ashleigh-Ann spent the summer of 2014 as an intern with the office of NYS Senator Timothy
Kennedy and at the Erie County Legislature.
SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence
The Chancellor's Award is the highest honor bestowed by SUNY upon a student. This award recognizes model
students who have integrated academic excellence with achievement in areas such as athletics, community ser-
vice, creative and performing arts, entrepreneurship, leadership, and career achievement. Today we honor these
outstanding students with certificates noting their accomplishment. Five students were selected to receive the
Chancellor’s Award and two students were selected to receive both the Chancellor’s Award and the Buffalo State
President’s Medal.
Undergraduate Chancellor’s Award Recipients
Diamond Briggs
Diamond Briggs is a senior majoring in Sociology with a GPA of 3.92. A member of the Muriel A. Howard Honors
Program, a McNair Scholar and EOP student, Diamond hosted the EOP Honor’s Convocation in 2013 and is an
Academic Mentor for the EOP program. Diamond earned membership in the Chi Alpha Epsilon honor society and
was awarded the Educational Opportunity Program’s highest GPA award (2012); the Residence Life Excellence for
Student Success Award (2014), as well as the Neumann-Clement Award for achieving the highest GPA among soci-
ology majors (2014). Outside the classroom, Diamond has participated in numerous extracurricular activities, in-
cluding Saturday of Service, Westside Ministry soup kitchen, and math tutor at Buffalo Public School 45. She is a
resident assistant, as secretary for the African American Student Organization, a member of Step Expressions and the Fashion Student Association, and an EOP first-year mentor and tutor.
Undergraduate Recipients Chelsea Davidson Chelsea Davidson is a senior majoring in Exceptional and Elementary Education with a 3.86 GPA. She is a
member of Kappa Delta Pi, the National Education Honor Society and the Student Council for Exceptional
Children. She is also captain of the Cross Country team, the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field teams and
volunteers to support the Special Olympics. A dedicated student-athlete, Chelsea leads by example. As a team
member, whether in a cooperative learning group, research collaboration, or work environment, she is focused and
conscientious in meeting her own responsibilities and encouraging the participation of others. She was accepted into the selective International professional Development Schools Program, which includes a three-week travel
and service learning experience in Santiago, Chile, in May 2015. She will use her field experience working with
Chilean students in a public school to document similarities and differences in U.S. and Chilean education
systems. Her primary focus is on teaching students with and without disabilities and she has a keen interest in
researching evidence-based practices for students with disabilities. Outside the classroom, Chelsea has combined
her interest in athletics and advocacy for individuals with disabilities in her long-term work with Special
Olympics. She developed a program at Maryvale Intermediate School in Cheektowaga, NY, to raise funds for
purchasing equipment for students with disabilities. Chelsea is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, and was named a
Buffalo State Provost’s Scholar Athlete for four years and named to the SUNYAC Commissioner’s Academic
List.
Stephanie Kahn
Stephanie Kahn is a senior majoring in Metals/Jewelry Design with minors in Sociology and Creative Studies.
She has a 3.63 GPA and is a member of the Muriel A. Howard Honors Program, the Sigma Alpha Pi National
Society of Leadership and Success, and the Alpha Lambda Delta National First-Year Honor Society. Her work
has been presented at numerous juried exhibits and she was a presenter at the Student Research and Creativity
Celebration. Outside the classroom, Stephanie is active on campus as a participant in the Emerging Student
Leaders program; Students Involved in the Art of Metalsmithing (vice president); Nutrition Club (secretary);
Wilderness and Adventure Club; and Rotoract Club. She was also a first-year mentor/apartment assistant;
orientation leader; conference assistant; and University police student assistant. During her college career,
Stephanie has volunteered as a nutrition education coordinator for the Priscilla Project for pregnant refugee
women; as site coordinator of Community Service Day; as facilitator of the “Reversing Negativity” installation at the Anne Frank Project; as a Girl Scout troop assistant; as coordinator of and performer in flute concerts at various
senior citizen homes and as a programmer of social activities for mentally and physically disabled adults.
Amy Marciniak
Amy Marciniak is a senior majoring in Childhood Education with a 3.93 GPA. She serves as Buffalo State’s
student liaison to the Professional Development Schools Consortium and is an officer of USG. Throughout her
career at Buffalo State, Amy has distinguished herself by performing above and beyond the increasingly
demanding requirements of teacher candidates. Her commitment to service led her to several leadership posts on
campus. She served as co-president of the Elementary Education Club (EEC), leading readings to children at
Women’s and Children’s Hospital, a school-supply collection for the Waterfront School in Buffalo, and a fund
drive for a fellow teacher candidate whose home was lost in a fire. She also participated regularly in the Global Book Hour and has participated in events such as the Elementary Education and Reading Department’s “Teacher
Tailgate” for teacher candidates and college exploration events for bilingual middle school students. One of her
signature achievements was co-creating the EEC’s “Greater Than Me Network,” a voluntary project that builds
strong communities through kindness and positive deeds. She presented information about the Network at the
Buffalo State Professional Development Schools Consortium retreat in 2013 and the Anne Frank Project
conference in 2013 and 2014. Amy is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the education honor society.
James Martin
James Martin has been recognized as the undergraduate recipient of both the President’s Medal and the SUNY
Chancellor’s Award. His personal statement appears under the President’s Medal Award.
SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence
Buffalo State President’s Medal
The Buffalo State President’s Medal is the highest honor awarded to a student by Buffalo State. This award is
given to a student who, through use of his/her natural talents and acquired skills, has demonstrated a commitment
toward meeting the goals of higher education as set forth in the college’s mission statement. A grade point
average of at least 3.5 is required for consideration for this award, along with demonstrated citizenship through
membership in a professional organization or community outreach activities and leadership/creativity through
local, state, national, or international recognition for excellence.
Undergraduate Recipient
James Martin
James Martin is a senior majoring in Forensic Chemistry with a 3.91 GPA. He is a member of the Muriel A.
Howard Honors Program and the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program and participated in McNair Summer
Research programs on campus, at North Carolina A&T University and at Michigan State University, where he won first place for the undergraduate oral presentation and the best presenter award. As a result of his academic
prowess, the Chemistry Department honored him with the ACS Analytical Award and the Minority Student
Award. In addition, the Math Department honored him with an award for achievement in calculus, and he was
presented with a Residence Life Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement and the Nurturing Initiative and
Achievement (NIA) Program’s Mentor of the Year for 2014. Mr. Martin has an impressive record of service to the
campus and community that includes both participation in campus activities and working directly with fellow
students. He is always willing to help others, formally tutoring EOP students in math and science and informally
offering help to classmates who struggle with upper-level chemistry courses. He is a first-year mentor/resident
assistant. He speaks to students at open houses, represented the honors program at the Scholarship Gala, and co-
presented a workshop on research at orientation. Off campus, he has volunteered his time with Alternative Fall
Break and as a group leader for the PAL Summer Youth Employment program.
Graduate Recipient
Ted Mallwitz
Ted Mallwitz is a graduate student majoring in Higher/Education/Student Affairs Administration with a 4.0 GPA. He obtained a grant from the SUNY Office of Special Programs to develop the Inspire Creativity and Academic
Success program for EOP, a mandatory, credit-bearing course for incoming EOP students and served as that
program’s coordinator and instructor. He also served as logistics coordinator for the Creative Studies Distance
Program and the Creativity Expert Exchange. Ted is well prepared to be a change agent in higher education. He is
a polished orator and scholar, particularly in the areas of research and inquiry, where he brings a critical inquiry
perspective and skill set to a research setting that rivals most doctoral students. At the same time, he frequently
engages other students in how to best develop a conceptual framework for their own research projects. In the
process, he continually adds to the richness of discussions that are critical to work in higher education. His hunger
and enthusiasm for tackling big questions in a complex world is contagious and inclusive.
