INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – STVARNO DRUGAČIJADragi učenici i roditelji,

Kreativnost, volja i tehnološki kapacitet

prepreke. Kroz onlajn-nastavu razvijali smo digitalne kompetencije, a neki učenici su akademski zasijali iza svojih

monitora.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – TRULY DIFFERENTDear students and parents,

It is my great pleasure to greet you on the pages of the International School’s bulletin, designed to showcase all the results we achieved in the second and third term thanks to our motivation, hard work and dedication. The end of the school year brought many unforgettable experiences; existing friendships were strengthened and new ones forged, all of which encouraged us to move towards our goals with even greater enthusiasm and determination.

In addition to the outstanding results International School’s students achieved on sports fields and halls across the country and the region, we welcomed many interesting guests and hosted educational workshops and interactive lectures, showing once again that theory and practice merge into the motto which the International School proudly represents – Truly Different.

This term, we showed once again that altruism is one of the intrinsic characteristics of our students. For the children at the Drop-In Centre, we provided gift baskets which put smiles on the little ones’ faces. Well done, I am proud of your selflessness! We took part in international competitions and conferences where we achieved great results, and our students were accepted to prestigious universities around the world. Keep up the good work!

I would particularly like to highlight the way in which we tackled the health crisis and the state of emergency. Creativity,

Principal of the International School

Kind regards,

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – TRULY DIFFERENTdetermination and the school’s technological capacity showed how the

International School and its students and teachers can overcome the biggest obstacles. Through online teaching, we developed digital

competencies and some of the students showcased their academic brilliance behind their monitors. We encouraged

each other through solidarity, support, understanding and empathy, and took care of each other using the

#stayathome hashtag.

The second part of the year was full of creative lessons promoting an interdisciplinary approach and learning in a simple and interesting manner. We also visited many museums and cultural and historical institutions, and enjoyed VR ventures. For Valentine’s Day, we had a great party and played many interesting games.

In front of you is International School’s tenth bulletin, which gives our accounts of all these events. The time has come for you to rest and recharge your batteries for the challenges in September. Have a lovely break and enjoy it to the fullest.

As always, I am here for any concerns you might have and I greatly appreciate all your suggestions

for school improvement.

In March, the International School welcomed the representatives of the European Universities Consortium (EUC). Year 13 students had an amazing opportunity to learn more about the universities they’re interested in; the event also served as a kick-start for the indecisive ones. The European Universities Consortium is an alliance of eight high-ranking universities located in Austria, Belgium, Italy, Ireland, Germany, Spain and Switzerland.

The students seized the opportunity to meet with representatives of this consortium and learn more about these universities’ bachelor programmes. At the very beginning, the students saw a general EUC presentation, which was followed by short presentations from all universities. The event was concluded by a mini-fair of sorts, where the students had a chance to discuss individual programmes directly with the university representatives.

International School students and their Psychology teachers visited the popular film festival, FEST, and watched the historical drama “A Hidden Life” from the acclaimed director Terrence Malick. The film is based on the letters of an Austrian farmer who, upon being called to serve in the army, refused to pledge loyalty to Hitler, and was imprisoned and executed as a result.

The students had to step into the lead actor’s shoes to try to understand his ethical dilemmas. They had to project themselves into the mind of a relatively simple man in a period of terror and confusion. Even though this is a drama with a strong theme, the students loved the film and the conversation about it.

CAMBRIDGE UNLOCKED A SET OF RESOURCES DURING THE EPIDEMIC

During the COVID-19 epidemic Cambridge unlocked Resource Plus, an educational programme that provides platform users with high-quality video materials, interactive tools, lessons and teaching materials which help the students learn and prepare for their examinations.

Being digitally-minded, International School teachers and students greatly appreciated these resources and used them in their teaching and learning, since they used the Distance Learning System and studied from their homes.

CREATIVE LESSONS

During the second term, International

School students enjoyed numerous creative and

interdisciplinary lessons. The period during which the state

of emergency was declared was particularly challenging. A blend

of psychology and art and ice skating instead of PE lessons

brought many positive experiences and unique

knowledge.

KREATIVNI ČASOVI

Za učenike International Schoola

tokom drugog polugodišta održan je veliki broj kreativnih,

interdisciplinarnih časova, a poseban izazov predstavljao je period vanrednog stanja. Spoj

psihologije i umetnosti i klizanje umesto časova fizičkog doneli su

učenicima pozitivna iskustva i nova, jedinstvena znanja.

International School’s students were given the chance to showcase their acrobatic skills on ice, as the school substituted regular PE lessons in the gym for ice skating for two weeks. This winter activity was met with enthusiasm and excitement at the International School. Some of the students were thrilled, some of them not so much, but all of them had a lot of fun, that’s for sure.

Some had a shaky start and had to hold on to each other, however, it wasn’t long before they mastered the ice skating skill. International School’s students enjoyed this winter activity which has numerous health and fitness benefits.

Art & Design teacher, Anja Jovović, together with Željko Ljiljak-Vukajlović, Psychology teacher, joined forces to make students use non-verbal communication in yet another interesting interdisciplinary lesson at the International School.

The students were given a short description of a product that they then visualised and presented to the rest of the class. The main goal of this lesson was to demonstrate how to use non-verbal communication through visual cues in order to decide what to buy. By having them explain the reasoning behind their aesthetic choices, the teachers gave the students a practical display of how marketing experts and designers shape our perception.
