The region’s natural attractions – beaches, mountains, rainforests, rivers and lakes – are pristine, offering a wide range of both leisurely and action-packed entertainment. Theme parks (such as Australia Zoo, made famous by Steve ‘the Crocodile Man’ irwin), tours, fishing, boating, restaurants/cafes and shopping are also highlights.

Gold CoastQueensland’s Gold Coast is famous worldwide – never-ending beaches, immaculate rainforests, exciting entertainment and relaxed lifestyle. The Gold Coast is a favourite playground for international visitors and Australians alike.

Life in the great Outback is best experienced on a station (vast properties for rearing livestock). explore by horseback, participate in rural life, camp out under the stars, or enjoy the peace from a wide-open Queensland veranda.

Carnarvon GorgeAboriginal art sites, gorges of lush rainforest and striking sandstone cliffs are just a few of the hidden treasures to explore along the bushwalking tracks of Carnarvon Gorge national park.

The Bunya MountainsRetreat for a day trip or a weekend away and get up close to the abundant Australian wildlife in the Bunya Mountains national park. Brightly coloured parrots, scrub turkeys, kookaburras and wallabies are commonly seen.

Other activities

Known as the Garden City, Toowoomba has many attractions for locals and tourists, including the Cobb & Co Museum, easterfest, Crows nest Falls, and Carnival of Flowers featuring a Flower, Food and Wine Festival.

Situated alongside the Great Sandy region, Fraser Coast has a lot to offer, including venturing across to Fraser island, the world’s largest sand island.

With the Springfield region rapidly growing, it is worthwhile checking out what is on offer, including the major shopping precinct, regional parklands, and a soon-to-be swimming lagoon which will be developed this summer.

While in Queensland, don’t forget to check out the $8.5 million education and training facility for the Queensland wine tourism industry located in Stanthorpe, which is just under two hours’ drive from Toowoomba.

if you’re thinking about going to events, festivals and expos, then check out the USQ events page to keep track of everything that is happening.
