Education system• Norway is one of the leading countries confirming the

guidelines from the Bologna system in European higher education

• The degree system based on the Bachelor`s, Master`s and Ph.d. structure has been successfully implemented, together with the ECTS credit system

• More than 200 Master programmes taught in english, covering a variety of subject areas

Education system• 7 accredited universities• 9 accredited specialized university institutions• 22 accredited university colleges• Almost all higher education institutions are state-run• Tuition is not required, although fees may be imposed for

certain professional education programmes• The academic year normally runs from mid-August to mid-

June. Courses are measured in “studiepoeng” according to the ECTS standard (European Credit Transfer System credits).
