•Historical background

•Properties of CPVC

•Why CPVC is preferred on PVC ??

•Process description

•Pipe extrusion

•Recent development in pipe

Page 3: Study of PVC and HDPE Pipe (PROJECT PART 1)

CPVC is produced by chlorination of PVC.

It has been used in a variety of processes and industries for over 40 years

CPVC was first commercialized by Noveon in the early 1960s

Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) is one of the most important polymers being used nowadays

Historical Background

• High heat resistant

• High mechanical strength

• Fire resistant

• Excellent corrosion resistant

Properties of CPVC

Max Operating Temp (°C) 60 93

Why is CPVC preferred on PVC??

Page 6: Study of PVC and HDPE Pipe (PROJECT PART 1)

Higher Output with less stress on the material :

The relative small diameter of the conical screw in the discharge zone keeps friction to a minimum and hence conical twin screw are claimed as the ideal choice for the sensitive materials like C-PVC.
