What? UI-CREATES or Universitas Indonesia Credit Earning Program for Students is a credit bearing program for 3 credits by taking 1 available subject or 6 credits by taking 2 available subjects.
The program consists of pre, main program, and post. For the pre program, students need to submit a pa-per regarding their perception about UI and Indonesia and for post program, participants need to submit paper containing their opinion about the program and the benefit of this program. The main program will be conducted at UI for2 or 3 weeks program. On this program, students will not only take some courses but can also learn about Indonesian Language & Culture, have some cultural visits, and short internship program at Indonesian Government and Private Institutions related with the course taken. This is a real comprehensive credit earning program students should take to enhance their knowledge and enrich their experiences.
Who? This program is eligible for: Students from undergraduate/graduate program in any major can apply have completed at least one year of full-time study at the time of application at your home institution be recommended by your university, proven with a nomination letter from home institution be able to actively communicate in English, proven with minimum score of or its equivalent:
If the applicant is unable to take the above tests in time for application or not strictly achieving those scores, Universitas Indonesia will also accept an official letter from the applicant’s home institution certi-fying an equivalent level of English proficiency until the students can submit their English Proficiency Certificate.

Why? By taking this program, you are able to earn transferrable credits to your university. You will learn about Indonesia’s unique diverse culture and heritage. Meanwhile, you will have a chance to experience about Indonesian Insight through short internship program at Indonesian government and private institutions related to the course taken while also explore the vibrant life style, culture and local wisdom.
How Much? The program fee for this credit earning program (2 weeks/ 3 credits) is USD 500* per person or for (3 weeks/ 6 credits) is USD 650* per person. (Minimum 20 students for 1 term) . Program fee include lectures, Indonesian language & culture class, excursion, daily lunch , return airport transfer and local transportation during the program . *excluding airfare, accommodation, meals outside the program (dinner), personal expenses and additional trip to Bali or Jogja

How to Select Courses ?
Participant for 2 weeks program (3 credit) is eligible to receive 1 course during the program , while partici-pant for 3 weeks program (6 credit) is eligible to receive 2 courses. All participants are required to choose two courses from the offered courses list. List of courses other than offered here can be adjusted based on request.

Civil : Sustainable Built Environment
This course aims to teach students are able to apply the basic principles of natural systems and the built environment as well as concept of sustainable development to civil engineering includ-ing to design Civil Buildings with the concept of green building and sustainability. Topics : Principles of natural environmental systems and life cycle (cycle of matter and energy, hydrological cycle, food chain); Basic Principles of the built environment system and its impact on the natural environment and life cycle system (social system, ecosystem, build environment, the concept of niche, power capacity and resilience); Impact of development sector and infra-structure on the natural environment; Agenda 21 and environment-based development (global/national/local Agenda, social, environment and economic pillars in development); Sus-tainability concept of Civil Engineering (zero waste, efficiency, hierarchy waste management, waste and pollution carrying capacity of the environment, sustainable consumption and pro-duction); concept of Green Building (LEED) Green Building Criteria: Sustainable sites (EIA); Wa-ter efficiency: Energy and atmosphere; materials and natural resources; Innovation and design process; Green Building concept Strategy: Example of Green Building concept in Indonesia, and other nation; Environmental Law and other regulations, ISO 14001
Environmental Global issues
The aim of this course is students can fully understand and explain systematically some environ-mental issues of global concern that requires international cooperation in handling and man-agement. Topics : The explosion in population and the challenge of civilization: the problem of scarcity and water security, food, and energy; addressing global warming and adaptation to climate change: carbon footprint and ecological footprint; loss of biodiversity and soil fertility; depletion of ozone layer; genetic engineering between challenges and opportunities; intensive farming and their impacts; water balance, reservoir and its environmental problems; nanotechnology; environmental biotechnology; pandemic and emerging diseases; nuclear energy and its chal-lenges; urban sprawl; hazardous waste management and cross-country mobility issues; policies and strategies for water savings and energy.

The Law and Economic of Development
This course discusses on the important relationship between law and economic development. It will also look into economic development, role of law in the economic development from liberal-ism perspective, from socialism perspective, and from Indonesia's five pillars (Pancasila) perspec-tive. Further, the course will also discuss the impact of liberal economy on legal system and the impact of Pancasila economy on legal system. In addition, the course will analyze globalization im-pact on Indonesian legal system and legal globalization impact on Indonesian economic develop-ment. Lastly, it will discuss economic development in Indonesia, legal issues that may arise, and studies law development and economy in Indonesia.
Law and Human Rights
This course discusses Human Rights instruments in Indonesia and in other parts of the world. The course also studies the relationship between law and human rights in Indonesia as governed by Indonesian laws.

English Studies Identity and Popular Culture
This course provides the necessary conceptual framework for students to be able to critically ana-lyze issues and case studies related to identity construction within the production, distribution and consumption of popular culture. The main issues to be discussed are race, ethnic, religion, gender and social class identities as they are negotiated or identity as “self positioning” and “being posi-tioned”. Students will learn how to analyze films, television series, music, advertisements and so-cial media through multiple methods ranging from textual analysis to ethnography. The class will incorporate active learning process, such as small group discussions and project based learning.
