Body horrorThe background of this poster is dark which is normal for a horror poster

The skull represents the body, normally on a body horror movie poster it will represent pain ie. The skull

The shapes and typography used to represent the film for example the ‘5’ is sharp representing a knife of some sort

The strapline specifically links to death of a person again

The release date is in red to represent danger and blood

Science fiction

The letters are spread out this could be to show how the different planets are so distant

The writing in the middle could show how the alien in the image is communicating

The background of this poster is dark which is normal for a horror poster

It doesn’t scare the audience however it creates a sense of enigma

The writing is in white like it is glowing in the dark

Comedy The strap line makes a joke of the horror genre

In a similar way the image in the middle is trying to to again make a joke of the perception of horror

The poster is quite simple and isn’t as effective as the other horror genres

However the character in the the image looks like they are looking at the audience. Almost works as a hypnotist to go and watch the film.

The lettering seems to be quite simple though one of the letters have a sharp appearance which represents the horror.

It looks more comical and we wouldn’t know this wasn’t horror if we didn’t read the title or have the mask in the image
