Writing

Students can view the video below to notice how a character in a realistic fiction story “gets into trouble” and how the trouble is fixed (problem/solution). https://www.storylineonline.net/books/hula-hoopin-queen/ *Students are ready to start sticking with one main character, and creating multiple stories with that character. Here are some things for students to keep in mind while writing stories in a series::
Some examples of series books that your child might be familiar with are Junie B. Jones, The Magic Tree House, and Henry and Mudge. These examples can be helpful to talk about when your child is starting to work on their own series stories.

● Assignment: Beginning Sunday, April 19th, students will go outside each evening (with parental supervision) to draw what the moon looks like. They should do this every night for one month and record their findings on the document included below. One month will allow students to see all the phases of the moon. If the weather is cloudy, and the moon is not visible, draw clouds. After the month is over, students can answer the questions on the “My Moon Log” worksheet.
