Part 1. You Are in Control of Your Decisions. Right?
Decision Making: How Cognitive Biases Can Hijack Our Thinking
1. Confirmation Bias. This is where you interpret things in a way that confirms your pre-conceptions. If you don’t like somebody, you look for evidence to confirm that perspective, then “hold back” your favored responses.
2. Normalcy bias, or normality bias, is a tendency for people to believe that things will function in the future the way they normally have functioned in the past. This tends to create lack of preparation in advance of a disaster, or subdued response (paralysis or "negative panic") after a disaster. About 70% of people reportedly display normalcy bias during a disaster. Counteract it with: the four stages of disaster response: preparation, warning, impact, and aftermath. Or, after the disaster with assessing the impact and making a prioritized action plan to the greatest impacts and/or most likely factors and actions for success.
3. Worst-case scenario bias. in which small deviations from normality are dealt with as signals of an impending catastrophe.
4. Sunk Cost Bias. Keep doing what we’ve been doing - even when there is an obvious better choice - because time and money has been invested.

Part 2. Staying Fresh and Focused in a Crisis Situation
BLT: Break Away. Look Up. Be at the TOP.
B is for: Break Away. 1. Stick 2. Growth from working: In your business. On your business. On yourself. 3. The The 2 Part Existence. We have a 2 part existence. And the 2 parts
are opposing forces. 1. Protect Brain.
• Analytical. Seeks to reduce or avoid risks to resources like money, time, or even considering a new idea. Keeps things out and you locked in.
• Black and white. Transactional thinking and living. Extrinsically motivated “for” things. Values, passion, uniqueness are excluded.
• Reactive. Looks at the future based on the past. • Becoming. Never measure up because the goal moves. Optimization
engineer “living by spreadsheet.” Wins rarely celebrated. Glass half empty view.
2. Growth Mind. • Creative. The Mind that Reimagines. Growth oriented. Proactive.
Vision, Purpose, Mission create a new future based on the future. • Open, expansive. Motivated intrinsically “from” who you are. Create
like an artist. • Can accomplish what’s possible and even the impossible. Frequent
wins. Zone of: Significant Success AND Wholehearted Fulfillment.
Page 7 [email protected] (832) 491-3243 www.CarlLoop.com
L is for: Look Up. 4. The Three Dimensions of Value
1. Systemic: This dimension is the one of definitions or goals, structured thinking, policies, procedures, rules, laws, oughts and shoulds. This is the dimension of perfection. If a person values something or someone systemically, then that person has to fulfill the idea perfectly. No gray area. Tasks are done or are not done. Yes or no. On or off. Right or wrong. It’s the zone where you are surviving: Inner critic kicks you when you are down and doubts you when you are up.
2. Extrinsic: This is evaluating value by comparing things to each other. Comparisons of good/better/best, and determining value by how they compare with other things. So the extrinsic dimension is one of comparisons, of determining how a particular object or person compares to another object or person.
3. Intrinsic: The dimension of uniqueness and singularity. This is the dimension of uniqueness, of person or things as they exist in themselves for who they are. There is no comparing. This is the valuing of an object or person regarding his/her purpose, beliefs, essence, uniqueness, or spiritual being. This is the most powerful source for the greatest version of you.

2. What's Possible.
Notes: What are 2 or 3 things that were Possible that you have accomplished?

3. What's Impossible.

Anchor Exercise: What Do You Want? Explore and discover with deeper questions…
1. What DO I really, genuinely desire? My MAIN OVERALL goal in life is... • Physical Adventure. Summit Mount Everest, be part of the mission that
goes to Mars, sail around the world, or a similar adventure. • Nobel Peace Prize. Humanity is not separate, if we can reach a higher
consciousness, unite the planet and usher in the next human transformation with everlasting Peace.
• World Influencer. President, Ambassador or similar. Achieve a high political office, President of the United States, Ambassador to a foreign country, President of the United Nations or similar.
• Unlimited Passion and Love. To find my Soul Mate and live with unlimited passion and love.
• Start a Revolution. Right a wrong, take on poverty and injustice, overthrow a dictator, end oppression, strife, struggle. Create a world where everybody wins.
• Enjoy Life to the Fullest. To live life to the fullest, full throttle, have as many friends as possible, hang out with the beautiful, the rich, the influential, the world changers, be where the action is.
• Discovery or Invention. High tech, medical, Physics, string theory, time travel, multidimensional universe, quantum physics or other.
• Art, Beauty, Spiritual. Have a painting in the Louvre, or be on the New York Times bestseller list, compose a symphony, attain enlightenment. Be an actor, be in a play, paint.

Anchor Exercise: Your Passport 2. What is that greatest version of you that
moves me through any circumstances and delivers the greatest version of me to accomplish the impossible? [Exercise] Create a list, using just one word words. “Being” words. No sentences. Example: Courage, Empathy, Alive, Bold and so forth.
• Words that describe you now. • Words that described you during Peak Experiences (birth of a child,
saving someone’s life, launch of a business, hiking to the top of a mountain, for examples) of your life.
• Words that described you as a child.
• Words that describe a hero or someone you admire, or someone you want to be.
Example words: Peaceful, Vibrant, Abundance, Aliveness, Joyful, Enthusiastic, Bold, Inspired, Lighthearted, Playful, Courage, Community, Freedom, Peace of Mind, Hope, Powerful, Secure, Heroic, Spirited, Determined, Motivated, Enthusiastic, Confident, Unstoppable, Undeniable, Expressed, Belonging, Clarity, or other…
Page 13 [email protected] (832) 491-3243 www.CarlLoop.com
Choose the most powerful words from the list you came up with to design the future you want to create, the person you want to become. Those are the words that speak from the Greatest Good “Belief” system of your mind and create the Greatest Version of You. These are the words where you are driven/obsessed/unstoppable to do something new, better or different that makes an impact. Using 4 to 6 of your most powerful words, write a sentence starting with “I Am…”
I Am …

time. 3. Meaningful to you.

Structures Exercise: Leadership Goals At any time we can define and create a new future. What most people do is look at the past, then set direction based on that. Here’s a method you can use to break away from the past and from where you are now. It’s a new way to “create” from nothing.
Past-Based Future
1st Start here 3rd go here. 2nd you would go here. Where you are now. The gap planned from
the past forward. Past Based Future.
In the above table, you are literally creating a “Past-Based” future. Because, starting with the current, you define the desired future.
Future-Based Future 2nd you would go here. 3rd go here. 1st Start here
Where you are now. The gap is re-engineered from the future back
Future Based Future.
In the above table, you’ve started with the future. You are literally anchored in the future and re-engineering backward from that. That’s a “Future based” future.
Write down “Future Based Goals” for the next 30 days: Personal Leadership Goals (2 or 3 goals):
1. 2. 3.
Professional Leadership Goals (2or 3 goals):
1. 2. 3.
