OSIRIS: Condition Monitoring Service
Chemical plant (SOLVAY Roussillon) Raw material for cigaret filters
Interested in wireless capabilities: a first project as a showroom for the whole plant
Test on machines monitored offline for data
comparison
THE CONTEXT
DEMAND KEY POINTS
Critical machines +/- 50g
Low frequency analysis capabilities
ATEX Zone 2
Sensors installed under a cover: need for reliable communication
Capabilities to easily and quickly change sensors from one machine to its
spare
OUR SOLUTION
Gateway positioned in the middle of the workshop with omnidirectionnal
antenna
Total of 12 tri axial sensors installed
Good communication with all sensors, including those under the cover of
the wringer
Emerson wireless network already onsite but lot of troubles at Wireless
network connection to the facility network: Strong resistance from IT guy
to new wireless solutions!!
ACOEM strength: Very opened and clear talk with IT crew on ISA100.11a at a pre
sales step. Capabilities to work on a temporary architecture without connection
to the facility network for fast deployment with remote 3G access to the XPR server
Obstacles
CONCLUSION & KEY SUCCESS FACTORS (1/2)
The solution: Ease of installation
- mounting / unmounting for maintenance operation- All installation tests performed successfully < 1 day with 3 different gateways location, antenna direction…
Easily expandable solution- Showroom for the chemical whole plant- Other machines to monitor in the same workshop in a first step- Other workshops and production lines to monitor
Communication capabilities- Triaxial sensor + T° with capabilities to communicate parameters to the control room by OPC through XPR- SUPERVISION for the access by the end customer to the condition monitoring information
Reliable wireless protocol: even under the cover the signal is transmitted!
