Greetings Siblings in Christ,

“Christ is alive! Let Christians sing. The Cross stands empty to the sky. Let streets and homes with praises ring.” –ELW 389 Christ is Alive! Let Christians Sing

Christ is Risen, alleluia!

Christ has broken the chains of sin and death so that you may live and have life abundantly. This is God’s gift to you. I certainly feel the abundance of life today, the grass is lush and green; the birds are all singing happily in the trees; and the air smells so fresh and new. Even the sunshine through the windows is warm and cheery.

We are in our final month of normal schedule services before we move to our summer schedule. And let me tell you the services in May will be jam packed with life. We will hear our eighth graders affirm their faith and claim it as their own as they complete the confirmation program, but not their journey in faith for that should be a life long journey.

We will celebrate the last day of Sunday school as our children prepare to wrap up the year of learning both at Mindoro Lutheran church, as well as in their respected places of learning. But we invite them to grow and to learn all summer long, trying new things and joining us for a week of Vacation Bible School. It is also not too late, to register for Camp at Sugar Creek Bible Camp!

We will Congratulate and honor our graduating seniors as they finish one chapter of their life and head on into a new chapter. We will also have a baptism, welcoming the newest member into the body of Christ! It will be a busy and exciting month.

Life is abundant, and we as a church body want to celebrate all the wonderful ways life is happening in our midst, so whether you are having a birthday, anniversary, graduation, confirmation, baptism, or simply just enjoying a beautiful day we celebrate with you!

Christ is Risen, Alleluia!

Pastor’s Suggestion Box

In the Narthex of each church you will now see shiny ballot boxes. These boxes are meant for you to drop helpful hints for the pastor; the notes may be anonymous, but it would be more helpful if you’d write your name so Pastor Alyssa can ask any clarifying questions.

Pastor’s Page continued

New Members:

If you are interested in joining the congregation, contact the church office at (608)857-3474… or indicate your desire to join by filling out the visitor card in the pew.

Then Pastor Alyssa will be in touch with you and answer any questions you have about Mindoro/Lewis Valley.

Please consider camp this summer

If you are considering going to camp, please speak with Pastor Alyssa as the churches have funds available to assist youth in attending Camp. Bible Camp can be a great way to learn and grow in faith and make friends that could last a lifetime.

Vacation Bible School

We are excited to announce that this year’s Vacation Bible School will be June 24-27 from 1-4pm at the Lions Shelter. We will be partnering with Bells Coulee Lutheran, Mindoro Presbyterian and North Bend Presbyterian. All children just finishing Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to participate. Older youth are invited to be leaders. You can find registration forms at the church office or by following the link on the church’s website. We look forward to having you set sail with us on our Shipwrecked adventure! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2019-vacation-bible-school-registration-60497810580

Seemore

Thank you once again to all at Lewis Valley who baked cookies for Common Ground, UW-L Campus ministry. The students were so thrilled to taste your scrumptious goodies; I even got a little taste.

The women who attended the WELCA convention in New Lisbon, sure had a good time! It was fun to see

all the ways they are making a difference in their local areas as well as across the globe.

Thank you to all who made tasty soup and sandwiches for the Lenten dinners.

I had such fun walking through lent with all of you, exploring the theme of “Open my Life, Lord”. My eyes, hands, ears, heart and life have definitely been opened. I’m so happy that the Wednesday night services will continue!

What a delight it was on Maundy Thursday to witness Anthony take his first communion.

I think those who take care of the church space need a round of applause; you all sure changed around those spaces many times in the past weeks, purple, black, white! WOW!

Thank you to those who faithfully attended the Bethany Home Annual meeting on April 28th!

In September 2017 Tim was told that he had a brain tumor. Tim is a life-long resident of this area and was an officer on the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department for 29 years prior to his illness. On September 29th 2017 he had a seven hour surgery. Some of the tumor could not be removed. After several weeks of waiting Tim and family were told he had a WHO Grade 3 Astrocytoma.

Since then Tim has undergone radiation treatments and three different types of infusion at Gundersen Lutheran. He will have another MRI after his final infusion. After that the only option will be experimental treatments.

Please support a gentleman who has supported our community as a La Crosse County Police Officer! Now it is our time to support him and his family with the journey he has in front of him fighting cancer.

church moving and active. Discussion also about getting more children in Sunday School and how to do this. A number of ideas were shared in regards to starting Sunday school earlier than services so the children would come up for the children's sermon and the rest of the service. This is a concern with all council members that the number of children in Sunday School is so small. TEAM REPORTS

“Look what was at my door when I got back from my walk! I'm covered in prayer now and perfect timing for chemo tomorrow! Thank you Thank you Thank you! ”

I received a picture and the lovely thank you above from the person I was asked to mail a prayer shawl to. The picture was cropped to protect her privacy. I don’t know who made this prayer shawl but want to shout out how much this ministry gives and thank the angels who quietly make it happen.

This lady is just starting a long, very difficult journey and she will have her prayer shawl with her. ~Mary Sinclair

A special thanks to the workers, our donors and those who attended the event. We are amazed by generosity of our church members. Even though our numbers were down this year, our donations were up. This was our most profitable fish fry to date. Our profit this year was $2450. Thank you! Jason & Trisha Young

Dear Mindoro and Lewis Valley Councils and Members,

Thank you so much for the card, the beautiful hibiscus plant, and the gift card for Secretary/Administrative Assistants Day on 4/24/19. The hibiscus was sitting in the office when I came into work and it sure brightened my morning! ~Mona

Pictures from April

Top: Lewis Valley made and delivered cookies to Common Ground Campus Ministry on

3/6/19 and 4/3/19. Mindoro will be delivering their 500

cookies on 5/1/19.

Left and Bottom: The greenhouse is filling up! These pictures are from

earlier in April so the plants have grown a lot since then. The transplant team was in the greenhouse on 4/13/19, putting the plants in bigger

containers to give them more growing room.
