Sukkot was Hopping With TABC Spirit TABC SIMCHAT BEIT
HASHOEVA
TABC rebbeim, alumni and talmidim celebrated their annual Simchat
Beit HaShoeva in Keter Torah's sukkah. They joined together for
pizza, singing, dancing and divrei Torah. The gemara instructs us
that teshvu k'ein taduru, that the sukkah should act as our home
throughout the chag. In this case, it served as our home away from
home, TABC. For more photos, click here.

TABC VISITS BORO PARK A group of over 30 TABC juniors, seniors and
alumni traveled with TABC rebbeim to Boro Park to experience what a
Simchat Beit HaShoeva is like among some of the chassidim who live
there. They were privileged to hear words of Torah from the
Munkatch Rebbe and the Bobov Rebbe in their respective Sukkot.
Then, they had a wonderful time dancing with members of the Karlin
Stalin and Stuchinsk communities. It was a fun, leybedik learning
experience, which demonstrated incredible achdut among Jews, and
was enjoyed by all. For more photos, click here.

MONSEY SIMCHAT BEIT HASHOEVA
Although the night was damp, the ruach soared. Thursday night, the
third day of Chol Hamoed 5777, TABC held its annual Simchat Beit
HaShoeva in Dr. Berman's sukkah. Forty-five students and alumni,
good food, zmirot, and divrei Torah packed the sukkah. Senior Shai
Gutfreund was the first speaker. He spoke of the value of earning a
mitzvah via a Chasidisha Moshel. Doc followed with a set of
signature stories connecting the mitzvah of sukkah with Rosh
Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
At this time the pizzas were delivered and a break was taken for
eating and zmirot.
Doc's son-in-law, Rabbi Etziony (father of Yisroel Meir - also in
attendance) from the Radin Kollel, told a story of the Chofetz
Chaim. He connected the temporal character of this world with that
of the sukkah we were sitting in. Our very lack of permanence
encourages us to excel. Rabbi Grossman, the Morah D'asrah of the
TABC Monsey community, batted cleanup. Rabbi Grossman read through
and explained passages in Gemara Sukkah. His take home message was
that any Jew who "walks the walk and talks the talk" will go
through life with legitimate and lasting simcha.

Wow! What a super turn out!
The TABC Sukkot reunion in Israel has really become a tradition!
Coach Bobby Kaplan, Athletic Director, has been organizing a brunch
reunion during Sukkot time for over a decade now. Every Hoshana
Rabba, Bobby gets together with all TABC alumni who are spending
the year learning in Eretz Yisrael. "I can't believe it's eleven
years already," said Coach Kaplan "Our yearly reunion of alumni
participants keeps growing and recently current TABC students and
their families have been joining us as well."
What better place to meet on Chol Hamoed Sukkot than on Ben Yehuda
Street in Yerushalayim at the famous Big Apple Pizza? Sixty-one
alumni attended this year for a few hours of friendship, Torah
thoughts, and stories of their TABC experiences.
Bobby, who travels to Israel each year to see his grandchildren,
realized that during the Chagim, the TABC alumni are first
acclimating to their new programs and it wasn't enough to just
randomly bump into them. So Bobby formalized their reunion into a
Sukkot Chol Hamoed TABC happening. It's an opportune time to
re-bond with the alumni and help with their transition and has
served as an important springboard for their success in spending
their year of growing and learning in Eretz Yisrael!

Over 70 talmidim, together with many of their rebbeim, celebrated
Simchat Torah night with Hakafot in TABC. They learned and danced
together, as their ruach filled the yeshiva. During the auction for
"Ata Horeta", the talmidim committed themselves to being misayem
the entire Massechet Megillah. Meanwhile, Rabbi Blau joined the
many juniors who learned in the NCSY Kollel this past summer for
Hakafot at their reunion in DRS in the Five Towns. So many juniors
chose to spend their summers learning at programs that they were a
major and impressive force during the Hakafot.

Torah and Science Update The Torah and Science elective watched and
passionately debated the now famous debate between Rabbi Jonathan
Sachs and Professor Richard Dawkins. Rabbi Sachs presents key ideas
regarding what he terms the "great partnership" between Torah and
Science. Comparisons were drawn between this debate and the
Ramban's classic debate with Pablo Christiani. Vigorous debate
ensued regarding
permitted/appropriate allegorization of stories in Tanach,
especially the story of Adam and Chavah in Gan Eden. Viewing the
recording of the riveting debate is highly recommended. It may be
accessed here.
