SUMMER 2015 In this Newsletter we would like to acknowledge, congratulate and celebrate the staff members who have been with us for over 30 years. They all continue to be valuable employees and contribute to providing you with gentle, friendly, painless dental care you have come to expect from Robinson & Prijic Family Dental Associates. Candy Bubolz has been with us 34 years. She is currently our Clinic Manager responsible for handling and scheduling all clinical employees. She also continues to be a top notch Dental Assistant. Donna Dunphy After 32 years, Donna continues to be an excellent, gentle Dental Assistant. She is also responsible for some repairs and ordering. Mary Beth Mack is still a remarkable Hygienist after 34 years. She provides painless cleanings and is still enthusiastic and loves the dental profession. On top of all this she is a Certified CPR Instructor and re-certifies everyone in the office each year. Mary Long Shadel is probably the best known and recognized Hygienist after 34 years. Her gentle manner and enthusiastic attitude about dentistry is contagious. Mary also handles OSHA responsibilities in the office. Kathy McCulloch has been with us really only 29½ years, but since she is the 1st person everyone talks to coming into the office or on the phone, she deserves a mention. If only the whole world had her energy and enthusiasm what a great place it would be. Lori Biely has been with us 30 years. She works behind the scenes providing support to the front desk and clinical staff. Her various duties include accounting, payroll and purchasing. Robinson & Prijic Family Dental Associates loves to acknowledge the fact we have such long term employees that continue to love our patients and show enthusiasm for the dental field. A recent study on Valet Magazine’s website reports: Study: 58% of people more likely to be hired after teeth whitening According to a recent study commissioned by Match.com, good teeth are what women “judge men on most” when first considering a romantic relationship, while independent research firm Kelton Research “found that 58% of a study’s participants were more likely to be hired and 53% received larger salary offers after their teeth had been whitened.”
Citing the advice of dentists, the article goes on to advise on methods to whiten teeth, including visiting the dentist for a professional whitening treatment. Although there are many products over the counter that attempt to whiten the teeth, the most successful result is still achieved by having the dentist evaluate the mouth, fabricate professional bleach trays and monitor the process. Prophylaxis Prophylaxis (“Prophy”), is a big, difficult‐to‐pronounce word that describes a relatively simple process. Most people know it simply as “teeth cleaning”. What exactly does a professional “teeth cleaning” accomplish? First, it removes or minimizes tobacco and other stains, giving you a more attractive smile. Secondly, it removes calculus, the hardened deposits of plaque that irritate the gums and can cause periodontal (gum) disease. Untreated periodontal disease can lead to tooth loss. Third, clean teeth make it easier for us to spot problem areas when conducting an exam. Everyone needs to have a prophylaxis done on a regular basis. The best way to make sure your teeth are cleaned often enough is to visit our office regularly. Please ask us if you have any questions. We’ll be happy to answer.
