Summer 2020 Issue 3
Thursday 7th May
I hope you have had a good week. I have been so impressed with all the amazing things people have been doing
from their homes and gardens.
We are all waiting to see what Boris Johnson has to say on Sunday about the Government’s plans for the coming
weeks. It is really hard to be waiting when there is so much speculation. Schools don’t have any information yet
and we are being told to wait for direction from the DfE (Department for Education). We do however, expect that
we will be given time to put our plans in place if there are changes which will affect attendance at school. We will
work hard to communicate any arrangements clearly and as quickly as is possible, but we would ask that you are
patient with us while we work to prepare the best possible systems and plans for the safety of all our children,
parents, staff and community. Information will be sent via email and posted on the website if there are any changes
and we ask that you don’t send enquiry emails to teachers or the office until we have shared our plans as this could
delay the work we will be doing behind the scenes.
Thank you for your continued support.
If you wish to share a photo or story of something special with the school community, then please do keep sending
them to [email protected]
By sending photos or articles you are agreeing to them being published in this letter which is sent to all families
and posted on the school website. It would be great to hear from you.
Vincent T (2M) pointing at Venus during his family’s garden camp out. What an amazing picture!
Tyler is still running! He has run as part of the cubs "hike to the moon" and he also did a virtual run as his fun run
in Wilmslow was cancelled (just before lock down!) This picture is Tyler with his medal from a Fun Run.
Congratulations to Tiarni in Y2, she has learnt to ride her bike over the last few weeks. Brilliant news!
Last Sunday, Leo completed the 2.6 Challenge for a local charity, The Rossendale Trust, which supports adults
with learning disabilities. He took on a number of challenges based around the numbers 2 and 6. He started by
running 2.6 km, then completed 26 star jumps, scored 26 football goals and 26 baskets. He has raised almost
£100 for the Trust so far.
Congratulations Leo – what a fantastic effort for such a worthy cause.
A lovely summer window display by Look who came to visit Luke (5L)!!

DIFFICULT TIMES FOR ALL
These are difficult times for all of us and school is no different. If you are able to settle any outstanding debts that
you have with school, we would really appreciate it.
KEEPING IN TOUCH
As part of our continued duty of care, we have to have regular contact with everyone to ensure you are all safe
and also to support children’s learning at home. Thank you to everyone for keeping in touch. We would
appreciate you sending at least one message a week – it can be brief. Please can you email your child’s class
teacher with a brief check-in.
Thank you for your help.
Apologies to 3M! Mrs Allen sent me the information and I missed that it was all of Y3 who have
done so well with your reading. Fantastic work 3M – Keep Reading!
FREE SCHOOL MEALS ELIGIBILITY
Due to the current situation, your personal circumstances may have changed and you may be eligible to claim free
school meals for your children. Our school is providing these in the form of food vouchers for a local
supermarket. The eligibility criteria for free school meals can be found at apply for free school meals. Please do
check to see if you qualify and apply as soon as possible. Free School Meals claims cannot be backdated. If you
do apply, please email [email protected] to let us know and then we can keep an eye out for the
details we need to register you for the vouchers.
Please note that the free school meals all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to are called
'universal free school meals' and aren't eligible for the free school meal voucher system that is currently in place.
It is only the families of children from Nursery to Year 6 who receive free school meals due to 'low income' that
are receiving the vouchers. If you think your child is eligible for this reason, Google 'Cheshire East Free School
Meals' and follow the link or click on the link above. If you qualify for Free School Meals, then your child may
be entitled to other benefits within school so it is definitely worth checking.
CURRICULUM & HOME LEARNING
Packs of work are available to be collected from school from Tuesday to Friday each week. These are printouts of
some of the work posted online, so if you are struggling to work electronically, then you will be able to collect them
from the boxes outside the KS2 building if the weather is fine, or just inside the KS2 porch if not, between
9:15a.m.and 2:45p.m. Please remember to observe social distancing rules if you are coming onto the school site.
We are also restricted in the number of copies we can make and so these packs are the best option for those families
where it is not possible to work online, we are not able to print all the resources in full.
ONLINE SAFETY
Looking for some more support with keeping your children safe online?
CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) have a wide range of resources specially designed for parents
during this time, when all of our time online has increased. These are available in packs which are aimed at different
aged children, on the ‘Thinkuknow’. Please follow the link below for more information.

Video chat during isolation: new for parents and carers
Professionals and parents and carers have told us that children are using video-chatting apps and sites to access
learning and keep in touch with friends and family.
Two new Parent Info articles look at some of the things parents and carers should think about to make sure their
child's experience of video chat is safe and fun:
Video chatting: a guide for parents and carers of primary school-age children
Video chatting: a guide for parents and carers of secondary school-age children
FROM THE NEWSHOUNDS
Hello everyone, it is me again,
I have a new recipe for creativeness!!!
First of all, Ancestry.co.uk is an application that traces your family tree, and is free till Sunday I can recommend it
and suggest it. I've found a great great uncle who fought in WW1!
Second of all, we have made ice cream using just bananas and strawberries, it uses up overripe banana. You cut
the banana into chunks and then freeze the banana and strawberries, when frozen you blend the banana and
strawberries with maple syrup and a small amount of chocolate until creamy. It is super yummy! Here is the link if
anyone wants to make it: https://www.forksoverknives.com/recipes/vegan-desserts/vegan-strawberry-chocolate-
ice-cream/#gs.5z31t2
Lastly I have been attending a free photography club online by Rolf and co, they'd really appreciate it if you joined
in its on Friday and Tuesday at 11 o'clock. I am learning lots about how to take a good photograph and this week
one of my pictures won.
That's all from me have a good week.

CORONAVIRUS
The message from the Government is clear; unless you are an essential key worker, then you should stay at home.
You should only be leaving the house for exercise (one time per day) and one person may go to buy food. The
Government has stated that there will be no change to the lockdown at this time.
Where both parents are key workers, or in single parent family the parent is a key worker, then if you require
childcare you are invited to contact [email protected] to discuss this.

If your circumstances have changed, then we may be able to help. Please contact the school via your child’s class
teacher or [email protected] There are a number of local organisations which are providing food
packages to those who have met difficult times.

Mental Health Helpline - 0300 303 3972 Local NHS Trust, Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP), has launched a new mental health helpline for
residents of Cheshire West, Cheshire East and Wirral.
Open 24 hours a day, seven-days a week, it is open to people of all ages including children and young people who
need urgent mental health support.
What to do if you need urgent mental health help: Please call 0300 303 3972 and our dedicated local NHS staff will support you to access the help you
need;
The helpline is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is open to people of all ages – including
children and young people;
The helpline is now the first port of call for mental health help – it is operated by people in your local
area who will know how best to support you. If you call NHS111 you may have to wait longer for help
and will be re-directed to this local service – so call 0300 303 3972;
Please note, A&E and 999 are not the best places to get help for the majority of mental health problems
– call 0300 303 3972 to be directed to the best local service to support you;
You should still call 999 or go to A&E if you have an immediate, life-threatening emergency requiring
mental or physical health assistance;
For non-urgent help and general wellbeing advice, the CWP website contains information and links to
resources to support people with anxiety, low mood, and worries relating to the current Covid-19
pandemic www.cwp.nhs.uk
For children and young people there is also a dedicated website MyMind.org.uk
