Baseball (Boys)

Session I: Hitting Camp

June 12th—15th 8:30—10 am 4th—8th Grade

Session II: Fielding Camp

June 19th—22nd 8:30—10 am 4th—8th Grade

Session III: Pitching & Catching Camp

June 26th—29th 8:30—10 am 4th—8th Grade

Join Coach Pete Lotus, his staff, and current and former Viking

players for Viking baseball camps. Attendees will learn the skills

and fundamentals of the game through the same methods that

have produced numerous Catholic League Blue, Regional and

Sectional Championships over the past 10 seasons.

Cost: $60 per session OR $150 for all 3 sessions

Basketball (Boys)

Session I

June 19th—22nd 12—2 pm 7th & 8th Grade

June 19th—22nd 2—3:30 pm 5th & 6th Grade

Session II

June 26th—29th 12—2 pm 7th & 8th Grade

Coach Jim Sexton and his staff are offering a fun and fast-paced

camp for all skill levels. Coach Sexton will teach campers the

same fundamentals, offensive, and defensive principles that he

uses with the high school team.

Cost: $60 per session OR $100 for both sessions

Basketball (Girls)

June 26th—29th 2—4 pm 4th—8th Grade

2017 Daily Southtown Coach of the Year and new St. Laurence

girls basketball coach George Shimko leads this camp. In

addition to his success at the high school level, Shimko has

years of experience running camps at the youth level. Attendees

are sure to improve their skills at this fun and exciting camp.

Cost: $60

Boot Camp (Co-ed)

June 12th—15th 2:15 pm—3:30 pm 5th—8th Grade

Ms. Teri Marshall leads this intense program focused on cardio-

vascular endurance, strength training, and stretching. Each day

will be divided between running, calisthenics, and yoga. Camp-

ers should bring a yoga mat, running shoes, towel, and water.

Cost: $50

Cross Country (Co-ed)

July 10th—13th 8—10 am 5th—8th Grade

Join St. Laurence cross country coach Darrell Reed in a

distance training camp. Learn the three key philosophies of the

Daniels Training Pyramid. Coach Reed will also teach about the

dynamics of running, general fitness, training, injury prevention,

running technique, race tactics, and proper nutrition.

Football (Co-ed)

July 24th—27th 12—2 pm 5th—8th Grade

Head Coach and former NFL player Harold Blackmon will lead this

camp for all rising 5th-8th graders. The camp is open to all skill

levels and is no pads and non-contact. Come learn from the back-

to-back IHSA Semifinalist Vikings!

Cost: $75

Lacrosse (Boys)

July 17th—20th 12—2 pm 5th—8th Grade

Come experience the fastest game on two feet! From

beginners to experienced players, all campers will enjoy this ac-

tion-packed camp on the turf field. Attendees should bring their

own equipment, but rental equipment will be available.

Cost: $50

Soccer (Co-ed)

July 10th—13th 12—2 pm 5th—8th Grade

Coach Matt Prunckle will lead this soccer camp for grade school

boys and girls. Learn the fundamentals and skills that are used

with the high school teams. All skill levels are welcome. Campers

should wear soccer cleats and shin guards.

Cost: $50

Softball (Girls)

June 26th—29th 12—1:30 pm 4th—8th Grade

Join new coach Teagan Walsh for an exciting, skills-based camp

on all aspects of softball. Campers should wear spikes and bring a

glove and bat if they have one. The camp will be on Queen of

Peace’s softball field.

Strength & Conditioning (Co-ed)

July 24th—27th 2:15—3:30 pm 5th—8th Grade

Join Coach Reed for a strength camp that is open to all

athletes. Campers will learn basic safety and technique in the

weight room. They will also do a number of exercises to strength-

en their muscles and build cardiovascular endurance.

Cost: $50

Tennis (Co-ed)

July 17th—20th 8:45—10 am 5th—8th Grade

Coach Mike Faber will lead the tennis camp open to all players

regardless of experience or skill level. Campers will learn skills

and drills to improve their game and have the opportunity to play

against each other.

Cost: $30

Track—Speed & Agility (Co-ed)

July 24th—27th 8:30—10 am 5th—8th Grade

Coach Darrell Reed will lead this camp focused on speed devel-

opment. Proper dynamic and static warm-up routines, foot place-

ment with shin-angling techniques, strength and power develop-

ment, multi-directional speed, agility movement patterns, reaction/

response to first step quickness, balance, and nutrition will all be

covered. The camp will also include video analysis and sample

warm-up and agility routines that can be done at home.

Track—Field Events (Co-ed)

June 12th—15th 4—5:30 pm 5th—8th Grade

Coach Darrell Reed and his staff will develop your skills in the

various field events — long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put,

and discus. No previous experience necessary.

Cost: $50

Volleyball (Girls)

July 10th—13th 9:30—11:30 am 4th—8th Grade

St. Laurence All-Skills Volleyball camp led by new coach Ellen

Yopchick offers four days of instruction and competition, intended

to teach players grades 4th-8th the fundamental skills and

knowledge of the game. Campers will be placed on courts accord-

ing to skill and grade level for an optimal learning experience.

Cost: $65

Volleyball (Boys)

June 12th—15th 12—2 pm 5th—8th Grade

Coach Ralph Peck will lead this camp for rising 5th-8th graders. All

skill levels are welcome. Campers will also have the opportunity to

learn from and play with the current Viking volleyball players.

Cost: $40

Wrestling (Co-ed)

July 24th—27th 4—6:30 pm 5th—8th Grade

Join Coach Clay French and the rest of the Viking coaching staff in

the Viking wrestling room. Coach French is an expert technician

who is sure to improve your skills during this camp.

Cost: $50

Analytics/Sabermetrics

June 12th—15th 10:15—11:30 am 5th—8th Grade

Explore the world of sabermetrics and analytics with Coach Raffer-

ty. You will use the same formulas professional teams use to deter-

mine how valuable a player is and who the best players in each

sport are. This fun and innovative camp could be the starting point

to a career in your favorite sports team’s front office!

Cost: $50

Band

June 19th—23rd 12—3 pm 5th—8th Grade

The St. Laurence Band Summer camp is for boys and girls that

have completed at least a year of band instruction on flute, clarinet,

saxophone, trumpet/ cornet, french horn, trombone, baritone, tuba,

bells, or drums. Students will participate in a week long process of

learning and performing concert band music. They will also partici-

pate in sectionals, clinics, and perform a concert.

Cost: $75

Computer Science—Coding

June 19th—22nd 10:15—11:30 am 5th—8th Grade

Coding is an important skill in today's society. This introduction to

computer programming will expose students to critical thinking and

how to perform basic coding tasks. Using an online Scratch pro-

gram, students will code stories and animations using this lan-

guage. No previous experience necessary. St. Laurence computers

will be used (no device needed).

eSports—League of Legends

July 17th—20th 10:15—11:30 am 5th—8th Grade

eSports camp focuses on the popular video game League of Leg-

ends. Players of all skill levels are welcome. Players will learn basic

in-game skills, effective communication, and teamwork.

Cost: $50

Leadership

June 26th—29th 10:15—11:30 am 5th—8th Grade

Come learn how to be a leader from the premier leadership

program on the Southside! Since leaders are made, not born, this

camp will concentrate on the five best practices of a leader, how to

use them in a group, and how a leader effectively leads a group.

Cost: $50

Nutrition

July 24th—27th 10:15—11:30 5th—8th Grade

Students will interpret what science tells us about nutrition and health;

discuss reasons for why we eat what we eat; identify nutrition guide-

lines set by the US Government; describe the major food groups and

their roles in our bodies; know the difference between energy balance

and weight control; and identify factors that make food unsafe.

Spanish

July 10th—13th 10:15—11:30 am 5th—8th Grade

Immerse yourself in Spanish this summer by learning the basics

through fun games, cultural activities, and conversation. No previous

Spanish speaking experience required!

St. Laurence Summer Camp Waiver

As parent/guardian of the participant in this program, I hereby take

all responsibility concerning my child’s physical condition upon en-

tering camp. I recognize, acknowledge, and agree to assume the

full risk of any injuries, damages or loss, which may be sustained

as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with

or associated with such camp(s). I further agree to indemnify and

hold harmless St. Laurence HS from any and all claims sustained

by my child, arising out of, connected with, or in any way associat-

ed with the activities of the camp.

I confirm that my child has up-to-date health insurance coverage and understand that this organization does not provide health in-surance for students in the camps. In the event of an emergency, I authorize any treatment deemed necessary from any accredited hospital and/or physician(s) for the immediate care of my child/children. I agree that I am responsible for providing insurance cov-erage and payment for any and all medical services rendered.
