What makes fun so fun?! This week we verify wacky science facts, and conduct explosive experiments! We hope to follow in the footsteps of the great scientists who came before us, exploring hypotheses and discovering exhilarating new phenomena. Think inquiries, reactions, explosions and edible exercises … science is everywhere!

3 … 2 … 1 … blastoff! Pull on your space boots, ‘cause we’re about to take flight! This week we learn about the solar system and its celestial bodies, and we may even discover a new planet or two! We’ll investigate gravity, space travel, and life in orbit. Applying the scientific experiences gathered in Week 2, we’ll launch rockets using a reaction of our own design. We have lift-off!

Returning from Outer Space, we take a deep dive to the bottom of the ocean. We’ll explore tides and tidepools, and identify fascinating marine creatures in their natural habitat. We’ll learn about water and waves, and discover what makes the ocean an endless pool of diversity … andin keeping with our deep sea theme: be prepared to get WET!

Nothing says “Summer” more than camping and s’mores … and this week, the camp out is coming to us! Our campers will sharpen their forest survival skills, learn about orienting themselves in nature, practice campfire building, and enjoy traditional camp crafts.

What do blueprints, bedrock and bricks all have in common? Building! City Planning is the name of the game this week. We’ll take a page from the maps created in Week 1, and apply them to our plans. From giant skyscrapers to tiny shops, we’ll transform the cafeteria stage into a model city! As we create, we’ll investigate city transportation, and all the ways cities connect citizens to resources.

Journey with us to the future of Seattle! We’ll generate ideas to solve existing issues and opportunities, and speculate about the possible needs of society. But wait – we can only get to the FUTURE by traveling to the PAST!

We’ll have to build a time machine for travel...

Behold a showcase of fantastical fabrication, marvelous machination and inspired invention, that will capture your imagination and leave you in awe! We’ll spend this final week exploring the summer’s projects, and visiting memories made; we’ll play carnival games, enjoy celebratory goings-on ... and send summer off with a FAIR amount of fun, joy and friendship!

AUGUST 10 - 19AUGUST 10 - 19

WORLD’S FAIR

Woven throughout our project themes this summer, our children will have the opportunity to revel in and investigate Nature: think outdoors, nature walks, lunch picnics, fresh air, even planning and planting a veggie garden for harvest.

We look forward to growing together!
