The objective of this summer internship is
to help you to learn fundamentals and
latest developments in field of Plant
Biotechnology, our internship program
meet the unique professional and
industrial requirement of each students
and the skilled faculty.
Plant biotechnology is an enchanting &
challenging field of research with a wide scope &
enormous possibilities of developing improved
form of plants free from pest & diseases, their
mass cultivation with in a period of time thorough
tissue culture. There is remarkable growth in
agriculture & horticulture during the period of
green revolution has led to the improvement in
the life styles of the people living in the rural
areas.
Plant tissue culture is a set of techniques used
to maintain or grow plant cells, tissues or
organs under sterile conditions on a nutrient
culture medium of known composition. Plant
tissue culture is widely used to produce clones
of a plant in a method known as micro
propagation. Apart from that this techniques
are being used to generate new plant varieties
& to produce valuable compounds that would
be difficult to obtain by chemical synthesis.
Plant Biotechnology has great future prospects. Even, in coming era
, they will be the one, who will be most in demand considering the
shortage of food supply and increasing crop disease, and variation in
weather, population explosion and so on. Skilled personnel will be needed
in the areas of molecular biology, genomics, agricultural and industrial
biotechnology and biomedical science, in near future. National Centre
for plant Genome Research is always in need of good Plant Biotechnologists.
Crop cloning and research on intense level will be required in the field.
Jobs as research technicians are available in agribusiness, university,
and government laboratories.
