HOW TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES

Make an appointment with an EI Advisor to register for classes or change your class schedule. New students will need to take the

placement test before registering for classes.

Visit the Cashier’s Office in RCF 213 to pay for classes with credit card, check, money order, or cash. If you prefer a payment plan, go

This intensive, comprehensive class is for beginners who speak very little English. You will study reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar in one class. Idioms are words or phrases that are used frequently but cannot be translated exactly, such as “red in the face” and “easy as pie.” In this interactive class, you will learn commonly used vocabulary and American idioms while you improve your overall English skills. You will use the vocabulary in pronunciation, spelling, reading, and writing activities. For four weeks, concentrate on real, everyday spoken English in this high beginning class. You will develop speaking, vocabulary, and pronunciation skills.

Idioms are words or phrases that are used fre-quently but cannot be translated exactly, such as “fit as a fiddle” and “turn the tables on some-one.” In this interactive class, you will learn commonly used vocabulary and American idioms while you improve your overall English skills. You will use the vocabulary in pronuncia-tion, spelling, reading, and writing activities. Practice speaking while participating in many different activities: skits, role-plays, dialogues, short presentations, and readings. You will develop speaking, vocabulary, and pronunciation skills. Idioms are words or phrases that are used frequently but cannot be translated exactly, such as “on the edge of your seat” and “in this neck of the woods.” In this interactive class, you will learn commonly used vocabulary and American idioms while you improve your overall English skills. You will use the vocabulary in pronuncia-tion, spelling, reading, and writing activities.

This advanced-level ESL writing course will prepare professionals for business/professional writing. Work on various types of professional writing such as e-mail correspondence, conven-tions, memos, short reports, summaries, business letters, cover letters, and resumes. Vocabulary and grammar will be covered as well. Basic computer skills are required.
