TheManufacturingProcess …
PREMASTERING The first step of the replicationprocess begins with taking the source data (in variousformats) and creating a disc image on a suitable tapeor disc format. Utilising the latest equipment andtechnology, our professional sound and videoengineers have the expertise to provide you with thepremastering capabilities you require; enhancingboth sound and image to your specifications.
GLASS MASTERING Glass Mastering comprisesof a number of stages to create a metallised glassmaster from which stampers are produced.Information from a master tape is transferred tothe glass via Laser Beam Recording. Subsequentdevelopment, metallisation and electroformingthen produces a nickel Father stamper.
REPLICATION A Precision closed-loop injection mouldingprocess impresses polycarbonate onto a stamper toproduce a clear data substrate. A micro thin layer ofaluminium film is deposited on the clear substrate toact as a reflective layer for laser read back. UV clearlacquer is applied onto the surface of the disc to protectthe disc from dust, scratches and environmentalconditions. Each individual disc is then screened forany visual defects.
PRINTING The printing process comprises ofhigh definition Silkscreen Printing andPhotographic Offset Printing. Layers of finestquality images are transferred on the CD surfaceand cured by UV rays. Each individual disc is theninspected by an Inline Label and IdentificationScanner to ensure that the highest qualitystandards are achieved.
DELIVERY After a final quality check, the discsare delivered worldwide. For urgent orders, anetwork of operations in four regional countriesprovides 24hr, Just-In-Time services from OrderPlacement to Delivery.
PACKAGING A wide range of automated high-speed packaging machines pack the discs intovarious available casings. For customisedpackaging, we have a sizable team of qualifiedpackers who are able to provide 24hrsturnaround service. Depending on yourrequirements, Summit CD offers a suite ofinnovative and diverse packaging solutions;providing you with a competitive marketing edge.
IN PROCESS QUALITY CHECK Throughout themanufacturing process, Summit CD’s QualityAssurance Department runs a series of tests andchecks using advanced technological instruments,ensuring that each finished product meets onlythe highest international standards.
Our pursuit for constant improvement in operational excellencehas resulted in Summit CD’s reputation for consistent qualityover the years. Working to surpass our customers’ expectationsin service and product, our Quality Assurance Department ensuresthe delivery of products with the highest quality - time after time.
