Keeping our Hallways Clear and Safe

In keeping with safe schools policies, we would appreciate you saying “goodbye” to your child(ren) outside before they enter the school and refrain from coming indoors with them unless you are volunteering or if you have a situation you need to discuss with office staff. After school, please make arrangements with your child to meet them outside of their dismissal doors. This will expedite our exit and entry in the school, as well as alleviate congestion in our hallways and after school. If staff ask you to wait at the office or outside of the school; they are following safe schools protocols.

Any visitor to the school, be they parents, workers, board support staff, must go through the office and sign in. If you would like to speak to the teachers, please make an appointment with the teacher,

through a voicemail message or your child’s agenda (note) Parents who are visiting the school for special night events such as interviews, plays,

presentations, School Councils, etc. do not have to go through the office (only during day).

NOTE ALSO a change to the end of the day, we now have permission to leave the front door unlocked from bell time (3:00) until the office closes (4:00). There is no supervision outside on the yard after dismissal.

Kiss ’n Ride

Drop off will be at the east side of the island; please have students ready to get out of car with backpacks on lap; we will open door; students MUST wait on island until supervisor gives OK to cross.

Due to available supervision, this program is only offered for morning drop off and may change if staffing alloca ons changes.

A ernoon pick up: families will need to manage this as best as possible with the parking provided in and around the school.

If you are not using the Kiss ‘n Ride service, you must park your car. The lane closest to the school is a BUS/FIRE ROUTE ONLY lane ALL DAY in accordance with

Town and Fire by‐laws. Tickets will be issued as the town has warned the community for sever‐al years about this.

Alternative parking areas:

⇒The Plaza no longer supports the use of their space, especially outside the daycare and doctor’s office; use at your own risk⇒Side streets such as Stouffer, where permitted.

We realize that drop-off and pick-up can be challenging and therefore we would like to provide some alterna-ve transporta on sugges ons:

Walking. Try a Community Walking Group. One parent at the front and one at the rear of thegroup, children walking in between. Pick up your friends along the way. Alternate parent/guardian pick up to share the task.

Carpool. Arrange to help each other out with pick-up and drop-off.

Discuss pick-up and drop-off rou nes with your children and be flexible with solu ons as change is required.

Families with more than one child can help their children to organize a designated pick-up spot. Park away from the school, and walk the last li le way to school with your child(ren).

Message from our Trustee As we start another school year, we are very pleased to welcome all of our new and returning families. I hope you all enjoyed the hot summer months and are looking forward to the start of school. There is a lot to look forward to in the months ahead and many ways for families to engage with their child’s learn-ing. There is a strong connection between parent and family engagement and student achievement and well-being, and I hope that you will find opportunities to get involved. In the coming year, trustees will continue to focus on the priorities that we set out in our Multi-Year Plan: student achievement and well-being; the delivery of effective and sustainable educational programs; and the responsible stewardship of Board resources. We know that partnerships with parents and families are essential to achieving these goals. However you choose to get involved, know that you are making a difference to your child’s learning. I wish you all the best for the upcoming school year.
