Objective:
This study is aimed at to discuss the production technology of capsicum on the
environment of Bangladesh.
The main objective is to tell about the future of capsicum cultivation and its
uses.Its brightness in agriculture sector.
Another objective is to uses of Capsicum on local and permanent market.

Definition of capsicum:
The genus Capsicum consists of many species and varieties; the fruits can vary greatly in color, size,
and shape. Taxonomical confusion exists in part due extensive plant breeding. The plant has straight, woody stems and can grow to approximately 3 m tall in tropical conditions. Star-shaped, white
flowers are borne in the axils of the leaves, which later become the varied-colored peppers. These
fruits contain many flat, white seeds that are the primary source of the chili spice
Variety:
Recently HRC, BARI has released an OP capsicum variety named BARI Misti Morich 1.
Fruits are shiny green bell shaped converted into red after ripening.

Land preparation :
The main field is to be prepared well be ploughingand cross ploughing as well
as harrowing followed by laddering.
Climate and Soil:
Optimum soil temperature for seed germination of sweet pepper ranged from 22-300 CBut at
night temperature below 160C and day temperature above 320.
Seed rate:
One gram of sweet pepper seed contains approximately 160 seeds. Approximately 230g of seeds are
needed to plant an hectare of land Seeds are sown in rows 10cm apart keeping a distance of 2 cm between
the seeds in a row

Sowing time:
October and November are found to be the best months for sowing
Spacing:
Spacing will very depending on cropping system, soil type and variety. The
Horticulture Research Centre of BARI use 1.0m wide beds which are 30 cm
high and transplant two rows/bed. Rows are 50 cm apart, with 40 cm between
plants within rows, for a plant population density of approximately 40000-45000 plants/ha

Weeding & mulching:
Hand or hoe weeding may be performed as needed. Mulching can be done
with dried plant straw ,polyethylene plastic, or a combination of both.
Irrigation and Drainage:
The optimum irrigation method is the furrow or drip irrigation. The field should be
drained after a heavy rain.

Insects:
1. Aphid
Control : Aphid infestation was observed at early stage which could be controlled by primer @ 1.5 ml
on 2 g/L or marathon @ 1.5-2ml/L of water.
2. Mites
Control: Mite infestation was observed also which could be controlled by Omite/Vertimac @ 2g/ L of
water
Diseases:
1. Anthracnose
Control: Use of fungicides: Bavistin @ 2 g/l of water or Knowin @ 2 g/l water
2. Phytophthora blight
Control: Ridomil Gold @ 2g/l of water, Bacterial wilt Good drainage system Crop rotation with non-
solanaceous crop

Conclusion:
In case of different growing environments, the naturally ventilated polyhouse
recorded the highest total marketable fruit yield with more number of excellent
quality export grade fruits. Sweet pepper cultivation under agro-climatic
conditions of Bangladesh is not much affected by insect pests and diseases ifwe cultivate under nylon net. Tunnel cover with nylon net and polythene is
required for growing capsicum during winter. So it can be produced in our
country very easily.
