SALUTING OUR HERO

On Veterans Day we celebrate and thank those who have

previously served in the armed forces. On Armed Forces Day we

celebrate and thank those who are currently serving.

On Memorial Day we celebrate and memorialize those who

have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. This

and every Memorial Day weekend Immanuel Lutheran Church

make each and every day. Saying thank you feels far too easy.

We give thanks to God for the sacrifice and courage of each

fallen soldier, and ask His continued blessings, comfort, and

SUMMER AT IMMANUEL

COOL IDEAS FOR KIDS THIS SUMMER

Summer Sunday School, for children age 3 through

Grade 2, begins on Sun., Jun. 2 during the 9:30 AM

service. Kids begin worship with their families, then

leave with the group for special Jesus time de-

signed just for them. They will rejoin their families

prior to the end of services.

Also Jun. 2-Jul. 28, 2019 Summer Children’s

Message series, The Gospel According to Dr. Seuss.

Each week at 5:30, 8, and 11 AM worship services,

children will hear a Dr. Seuss story, which will then

be correlated to a familiar Bible story. Children

(and adults!) will enjoy finding God in the most

unexpected places!

Perennial favorite Vacation Bible School, for

children age 3 through Grade 5, is Jun. 17-21, 9-

11:30 AM. This year’s theme is ROAR! Life is Wild,

God is Good. Join us for a roaring good time! Kids

and volunteers can register online at

immanuelbatavia.org/vacation_bible_school.

Summer Enrichment Classes are held the same

week as VBS and run 12:15-3 PM. Children regis-

tered for these classes are invited to register for

Lunch Buddies, bring a sack lunch, and enjoy a

supervised lunch period between VBS and Enrich-

ment Classes. For complete information and regis-

tration, visit ilsbatavia.org/summer_at_immanuel.

SAT. AM PRAYER GATHERINGS

SECOND SAT. OF EACH MONTH, 9:30-10:30 AM

IN THE CHAPEL

Everyone of any age is invited and encouraged

to participate in this monthly Prayer Gathering,

held in Immanuel’s chapel. Come to praise and

thank our amazing God and then present re-

quests to Him. “The Lord is at hand; do not be

anxious about anything, but in everything by

prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let

your requests be made known to God.”

—Philippians 4:5-6. Questions? Please contact

Erica Ciro at [email protected].

THREE ANSWERS TO THREE QUESTIONS

What Exactly is Stephen Ministry?

It's a ministry in our congregation in which

trained and supervised lay people (Stephen

Ministers) provide confidential one-to-one Chris-

tian care to people who are facing challenges

or difficulties.

Why the name "Stephen"?

The name comes from St. Stephen, the first lay

person commissioned by the Apostles to provide

ministry to those is need, as recorded in Acts 6.

How much does it cost?

Stephen Ministry care-giving is available to our

members and community free of charge.

BATAVIA INTERFAITH

FOOD PANTRY Money, non-

perishables food items, and

paper products for the pantry

are accepted here all month

long.
