The Collect for the 3rd Sunday before Lent Almighty God, who alone can bring order to the unruly wills and passions of sinful humanity: give your people grace so to love what you command and to desire what you promise, that, among the many changes of this world, our hearts may surely there be fixed where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

PARISH CHURCH HALL WORSHIP It has been a delight that our time here in the Parish Church Hall has been such a positive experience and it would be good to try and articulate what we have enjoyed about our time worshipping here. What are the positives from the last few months that we can take with us when we resume worship in our newly re-ordered church, given that we still have a lot of fundraising to do to make real our greater vision of toilets on the church site? Please let us have your thoughts and comments on a post-it note and attach it to the display board – thank you!

PLEASE DON’T LET YOUR CHRISTMAS GIFTS BE FORGOTTEN IN 2020! On average half of all Christmas gifts received in 2019 will already by now have been forgotten according to recent research. If you, or your friends and family have any gifts that are duplicates or not needed, please bring to the Parish Office (Wed - Friday am) or to church on Sunday. Or perhaps you’re planning a clear out or healthy living detox...whatever the reason we can help find your unwanted gifts a loving new home! The items will be stored away for the Autumn Fayre on Saturday 10 October - please save the date nice and early. Many thanks!

NEW WEB SITE We hope for our new web site to go live tomorrow. This means there will be no access to the site for most of the day. As well as updating pages about the church and our activities (including the Making History Project), there is a new section devoted exclusively to our heritage. This contributes to one of our key project goals to tell our heritage story better. Phase 1 includes an interactive tour of 15 heritage highlights, some 360 panoramic views of the ringing/bell chambers and the vaults during excavation. Additional content will go up over the coming months to coincide with the re-opening of the church. The new site has a contemporary feel and works well on mobile devices to meet the cultural expectations of our increasingly digital audience. If you notice any glitches or have other feedback please send it to: [email protected]

LENT GROUPS This year’s Lent course is ‘Opening the Scriptures: Setting our hearts on fire’. Taking the story of the meeting on the road to Emmaus as its starting point, the course invites us to ‘open the scriptures’ and read them both with our hearts and our heads. The Lent course begins in the week of Monday 2 March; see details of the dates and times of the groups on the flyers in church and do sign up for one! WORLD WOMEN’S DAY OF PRAYER Friday 6 March 2.30pm Parish Church Hall Praying with Zimbabwe; please join us, all very welcome. Service followed by refreshments (with Fairtrade stall). FRIENDS’ QUIZ NIGHT Saturday 7 March 7pm for 7.30pm Parish Church Hall Booking now open; tickets £14 to include supper (vegetarian option available), BYO drinks & glasses.
