Denis Pichou reported on a full calendar of
events. Guest chefs are invited to lend their talents to future Saturday
night dinners.
Membership chair Lucy Gillies reported that current membership stands
at 273 as of May 1. She also stated that many of our new members are

Rear Commodore John Connors stated that all of our Cal 20s have com-
pleted their maintenance cycles and are at the floating docks. The adult

KEEL BOAT RACES
Saturday was June sponsor's races for the Keel boat fleet. Mother nature provided us a beautiful day with wind to make the day anything but boring. The sponsors all showed up in force to get all 7 boats rigged and racing. A couple other members joined in on the fun and hopefully will again in the future.
3 races were completed before lunch and 3 after with the final race being a harbor tour race around the whole harbor passing through the inner harbor on the way to the finish line. This was a great way to end the days activities,,,,no I guess the after race drinks were.
1st Place was a tie between 2 boats and crews. O minnehaha (Mike Day & Mike Lawler) and Argo (Kelly & Susan Pike & Denis & Margrit Pichou). 3rd place went to the Titans of Uranus (Dave Slater, Clive Jones & Bill Klear “don’t call us Seaman”) with the rest of the boats bringing up the rear.
A good time was had by all and that makes everyone a winner
Thanks Lori Rhodes Morris and Lucy Gillies for the pictures

Sailing Camp is Under way!
The first week of sailing camp started on Monday - gorgeous sunshine,
light breezes and wonderful new boats! Here are a few photos for you to
see the next generation of budding sailing enthusiasts
A new face around the club!
There is a new face around the club - and she'll be here all Summer - Hannah
Tuson-Turner our Head Instructor for Sailing Camp!
Hannah grew up sailing, racing, teaching sailing, and being ac-
tive on tiny Orcas Island in Washington state. She spent 4 years
at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu and raced for their Var-
sity Sailing program receiving all-conference honors four years
in a row. While in Hawaii, she also taught in an adult sailing pro-
gram (Cal 20's) through the University and in a youth program
at Kaneohe Yacht Club. Passionate about sailing, and about the
fun of youth programs, Hannah is excited to join our team this
summer. Please join me in welcoming Hannah to the team - I am
sure she is going to have lots of fun at HMBYC!

Stop and smell the flowers !!
Have you noticed the array of beautiful plants thriving around the Club?
We have Dee O’Connor to thank for their
dedicated care. All are welcome to join her and if the flowers look a little thirsty, give them a bit of water.
(Be delicate when watering the flower box and PLEASE, no cigarette butts)
Dee also mentioned she has some GREAT new jackets at Ship’s Stores. Ask her to show them to you!
Board Highlights continued
Vice Commodore Mike Mann gained Board approval to purchase two
point-of-sale devices that will allow the use of credit cards by members
and guests. The new system will be tested and fully operational in time
for the Labor Day weekend.
Commodore Ray Durazo presented the first draft of proposed revisions
to the Club bylaws. Next step is to present the draft to the general mem-
bership meeting on August 19. The ultimate goal is to have the new by-
laws in place by December 1 when the 2013 Board takes office.
Director at Large Terri Lahey reported that a shelter for the feral cats that
reside on Club premises has been built and will be installed soon.
