In Sri Lanka, the pearl of the Indian Ocean, the Holy Father underlined during his official, ecumenical and popular encounters that the journey of recov- ery from the effects of war requires in addition to the search for truth- justice and unity. The Holy Father called for the acceptance of others, respect of the legitimate differences and learning to live together as one family, encouraging the deepening of ecumenical cooperation and the non-use of religious beliefs for violence and war. During his visit, Pope Francis declared the canonization of Blessed Joseph Vaz who served the poor and sick, and went out to the sub- urbs in order to let others know Jesus and love Him everywhere. Regarding the fruits, and implementing his message of peace, reconciliation and forgiveness, a presidential amnesty was issued when 612 prisoners, including 37 women were released. The Supreme Pontiff continued his journey heading to Manila, where he will have important stops, added to the official and ecumenical encounters, as the meeting with the families, the survivors of Yolanda Hurricane and with the youth. Give Me to Drink The Oriental Churches celebrates the Week of Prayer for the Christian Unity, during a week of intensive prayers and spiritual activities that fall under the theme "Give Me to Drink" (John 4/7). They followed up as well the program prepared by the Middle Eastern Council of Churches, the Episcopal Com- mission on Ecumenical Relations of the Assembly of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops in Lebanon. On this occasion, Tele Lumiere works on broadcasting special programs centered on the importance of the Church unity in time of divisions, raising prayers with its viewers for unity, reconciliation and peace in Lebanon and the entire world. Yaziji in Kuwait and Ghattas Metropolitan to the Diocese Presiding over a Church and media delegation, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X headed to Kuwait, in a new peaceful journey, from the 13 th to the 18 th of January, celebrating the enthrone- ment of Bishop Ghattas Hazim, Metropolitan to the Diocese of Baghdad and Kuwait. As usual, Tele Lumiere followed up this visit with all its Islamic- Christian popular, official and religious different stops. From Kuwait, Yaziji asserted that “We will not accept that religion is used to separate people, brothers, especially with these conditions in the region, we are the children of peace, love and we long for achieving them… Between “we” and “you, “and” does no longer exist, we are one and what gathers us is one God.

SIGNIS condemns the attack on ―Charlie Hebdo‖

SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication condemned

unequivocally the terrible attack on the offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine, joining with the Holy Father and representatives of all religions who have condemned this attack and the

actions of all those who spread hatred, fear and violence, which in the words of Pope Francis, “destroys human
