Saddle up your horses and load the wagons, we’re following God’s call to Texas.
As we learn about Anna Palm and her family moving from Sweden to Round
Rock, Texas, we also learn about the journeys some of the Bible’s families took as
they followed God’s unfolding plan. Kids will learn God is with us when it is time
to go, when it is time to wait, when times are scary, when times are sad, and when
it’s time to share the Good News.
Speaking of sharing the Good News, we’ve had to get creative this year, so we are
using a combination of videos, Facebook Live, Zoom groups, and live play dates
for small groups at the church.
Volunteers—We are always seeking volunteers to make our VBS a success! We
encourage older children and adults to volunteer before and/or during VBS week.
There are many opportunities available even as we go virtual for the first time ever.
Registration—To register your children and/or to volunteer, use your app or go to our website. The first
100 local kids to register will receive a free t-shirt and craft supplies. All other participants will have access to our
digital resources.

My story of HOPE…
On Monday, March 16th, I
was told I was an
“essential employee,” and
that I must report to work
despite the fact that we
were closed. It was kind of
frustrating knowing that I had to venture out each day
and my friends and family were all able to work from
home in their P.J.’s.
I work in Parks and Recreation, for the City of
Georgetown and I believe that Parks and Recreation is
as essential of a service as police and fire in our
communities today. I believe parks and recreation can
provide people and families so much opportunity to
connect with each other, themselves individually, their
community and most importantly, with God. After the
steam of frustration began wearing off, and my work
days continued to grow slower by the moment, I
decided to switch my focus and use this time as an
opportunity. I reached out to some colleagues to find
out how their department was handling this whole
situation. Through conversations and some reflection,
I have discovered what it means to be an “essential
employee.” Parks and recreation has always been
essential to communities, and it is actually more
essential right now, and will be even more in the
future.
I have begun writing an article about parks and
recreation, why it is essential to our health and how
this industry will help bring communities back. I
reached out to some of the top professionals in the
industry and had amazing conversations and learned a
great deal from these people. Their wisdom and
knowledge and ability to remain
positive about future
opportunity was so
enlightening. Although the
article is not yet complete, I am
excited to share a message of
hope to people inside and
outside of parks and recreation,
that we are altogether essential.

Thank you notes from members:
Dear friends,
Thank you so much for all the wonderful
birthday wishes! During this time of isolation,
it was a most welcome treat to be remembered
by so many with cards and e-mails.
I look forward to the day when we can all be
together again. Until then, take care.
God bless you.
