Several significant accomplishments are in my thoughts today. First, there are two staff members that have reached milestones which we are celebrating . Skip Yingling recently completed the process of becoming a Certified Church Musician within our denomination. This recognition comes after a couple of years, and many steps, of working toward this goal . We are most proud of Skip, giving thanks for all that he means to the life of our church. How blessed we are to have him lead us in music in so many creative ways.

The other staff member to be recognized this week is our beloved Kathleen Wilder. Unbelievably, Kathleen has now served our church and its senior pastors for twenty-five years! There is no doubt that she has brought more joy to our members than we will ever know . Her caring and compassionate attitude touches

FLORAL ANNOUNCEMENT

J1/INTERNATIONAL STUDENT DINNER International students are again headed to our community for seasonal work and the “All Nations Cafe” is a ministry housed in the Seacoast Vineyard Church that seeks to welcome and feed these students at different times throughout the summer. Our church has signed up to provide the meal on Tuesday, June 8th and we will need a good group of volunteers to help us serve the meal that evening. The commitment will be from 6:00-9:00 pm that day and we would love to have you be a part of our team.

Interested in serving? Want to help but can’t be there that day and want to make cookies or brownies? Email Nathan at [email protected]

NEW DIRECTIONS MEAL SERVING Did you know that before March of last year, members of First Presbyterian would cook a meal for the residents of the New Directions Men’s shelter each and every Wednesday? All year long, a rotation of five different teams from our church would take turns cooking and serving up to 140 meals a night. Although our church continued our support throughout the pandemic by donating food for the meal, our consistent Wednesday cooking had to pause. Over the last few months some of our volunteers have returned and we have been slowly organizing people to sign back up so that we can work to resume serving each Wednesday.

That being said, we would love to invite you to be on one of our teams who cook a meal once every 4-5 weeks. As the weather gets nicer and the numbers of vaccinated people increase, many of us are looking to get out of the house and try something new. If a new opportunity of cooking for and serving others is something that interests you, please email me at [email protected]. We’d love to have you serve with us on one of our teams!
