Happy September! School is in full swing and the students and children are all having a wonderful time. The children are learning so much already. We are all looking forward to the fall of the year so that we can get outside to run and play. Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your child’s preschool years.
Leaving School For the Day: Parents for the safety of your children and the safety of others we are asking that all parents and children exit the building using the doors near the office. Also, please make sure your child is signed out
for the day before leaving the campus. Please do not use the doors by the fellowship hall. Parents please do not allow your children to run in the halls. It can be very dangerous.
ALERT! Please remember that we are a peanut free facility. Also we request that children do not bring snacks to school unless you provide enough for the entire class.
Book Bags and Back Packs: We ask that since we allow children to bring book bags and back packs to school that parents please check them to be sure that there isn’t anything in them that may be harmful to the children. Anything that says “may be harmful to children” or "Keep out of the reach of children" cannot be in their bags. Beginning September 3rd, all students in the K-3 Room are being asked to please leave their bookbags at home.
Morning Drop Off: Parents please remember that all children in K3, Transition and Pre-K must be dropped off no later than 8:30 every morning.
All other children should be in school NO LATER THAN 9:30 every day. If your child has an early morning appointment, please let the front office know.
Labor Day: We will be closed September 2, 2019 in observance of Labor Day. Have a safe and happy holiday.
Consecration Sunday: Our Consecration Sunday Service has been moved to September 8th @ 11:00 AM. At this service Pastor Jan will pray for the teachers, the children and the Preschool for the upcoming school year. All parents and children are cordially invited and encouraged to attend.
Fall Pictures: The children will be taking pictures September 10th. Lifetouch will photograph our children again this fall. The more pictures you buy the more money we make. So spend until it hurts.
What’s Happening On Tuesday?! Starting on September 24th, Woodlawn will begin their new Tuesday Program. This program will be led by Pastor Jan Oglesbee and will begin with “Soulfull”, an afternoon program at 4:00PM-5:00PM, where children will learn the bible in fun ways. Then, from 5:00PM-6:15PM, all are welcome to participate in “Chortazo”. This is a “dinner church” where we will enjoy a meal and worship together. Finally, we will have “Terrific Tuesdays” from 6:30-7:30. This is the final par tof our program where all will participate in various activities, such as a movie night, a mission project, game night, and a miscellaneous night! Come join us on Tuesday as we all learn about and celebrate the joy of the Lord together!
Grandparents Day: We plan to celebrate our grandparents again this year. We will celebrate them October 9, 2018. ALL grandparents, great grandparents and stand in grandparents are welcome to come.
Fall Festival: October 25th Time: 5:30-6:45.. The center will close at 5 on this day to prepare for the festival.
We will also be closed for Veterans Day November 12th.

Ah, the piano.
Piano music is the backdrop for many of my childhood memories.
My mother sang and played the piano for our worship services on Sunday
morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday night. She could only play by
ear, but oh, how she could play! I can remember sometimes my Dad, who
was the pastor of our small church, would break out into a spontaneous
worship song; my mother—even though she was hearing impaired--
would be able to pick out the right key in just a couple of notes, then she
would join in singing harmony. I can still see the joy on her face as her
hands flew over the keys.
We had a piano at home; Dad would occasionally sit down after a hard
day’s work building houses (a job that paid the bills) and pour out his
soul, worshiping with arpeggios and hallelujahs. Those piano keys seemed
to absorb the tensions of the day, the worries and pressures of supporting
a family of five kids, the many pressures that came with being a pastor,
contractor, husband and father. We children never knew about the
worries; we just heard the music.
As time went by, each of the older children had the opportunity to take
piano lessons because Mom wanted us to be able to play by note. For me,
those piano lessons were torture; I was shy and the teacher had little
patience. (It was the one and only time I hated piano!)
I wish I had stuck with the lessons! I’ve got an old piano at home.
I practice playing by note on it occasionally, but mostly, like my Dad,
I pray with the piano. At home and here at church, there is something
soothing and holy about playing out my prayers!
This Sunday, after a summer of worshipping in the chapel, we will be
back in the sanctuary for our worship service. I’m looking forward to
hearing Phillip play that baby grand piano as only he can…for as always,
piano music moves my soul toward worship. With each note,
I am glad I came into the
house of the Lord.
