Due to lack of response, Kilianfest has beencancelled. Ticket money will be refunded.

In this Sunday’s Gospel we find the truth that loving Godisn’t merely a matter of fervor in our hearts, but that itmust be expressed in doing good for the sake of oothers.

This month, through your gifts, the Society ofSt. Vincent de Paul was able to show that we indeedlove our neighbors by assisting families with utilityand rent bills. thank You!

Business Manager’s Report:

I would like to correct one item from my column last week. The total cost ofmaintaining our campus is $525,195. There was a typo in my last week’s report.

I would like to explain some of the differences in the Parish Financial Report published lastweek. We have changed our method of accounting this past fiscal year to the accrualmethod from the cash method. The accrual method matches revenues with expenditures. This means that revenue is recognized when earned and matched against expenditures whenthey are incurred. In the past, tuition fees paid by our Faith Formation families and CYOwere mostly received during the summer months and recorded during that fiscal year when itwas actually received. This year the revenue was deferred and matched against theexpenditures which will occur after August 2017. If we had not adopted the accrual methodthis year, the $107,337 in tuition fees and $37,250 in CYO fees received during the summerwould have been recognized as revenue under the cash method. This difference in reportingaccounts for $144,587 of the difference in Parish Programs.

Fundraising revenue was off by about $5,000 due mainlyto not holding “Kilian Fest” last year and not having thePlay take place this summer. The Donation and Bequestline is down since we did not receive any large donationsin memory of deceased relatives or friends.

On the Expense side, the School Subsidy increased by $50,000. When LaSalle RegionalSchool was in operation the four Parishes supported the School. Once the School closed,we were required to send that financial support to the Diocese. The Diocese phased ourshare in over three years and last year was the first year for paying the full price.

Printing and Office is up due to some extra computer maintenance needs and some newoffice furniture. Auxiliary Expenses are up due to reporting expenses in the propercategories.

In summary, if you take into account the above and account for the $144,587 in deferredrevenue under the cash method (as was done in the previous 2 years) our shortfall is$83,448, which is due mainly to the $94,282 drop off in the regular collections.
