Church Family
It is with great pleasure that I announce to you the deacon election results from Sunday. You
elected all eleven men (Bill Maroney, Mike Warren, David Arnold, Eric Powell, Craig Suggs, Da-
vid Baumann, Randy Magee, Paul Wirtzberger, Bryan Williams, Steven Hudgins, Kyle Mitchell),
to be elevated to the title of “deacon/servant leader” of HTBC! There will be an ordination coun-
cil that will meet Sunday afternoon October 7th
at 4:00 for a final examination and affirmation of
these eleven men. Upon the recommendation of the ordination council we will proceed with an
ordination service Sunday evening October 7th
. This is a solemn and sacred trust that is being
bestowed upon these men and I look forward to sharing in this service with them and with you.
Please invite as many people as you can to join us for this spiritually significant time in the life
of our wonderful church family!
On another note, we have come through the summer months and most of the travel and vaca-
tions are behind us. Our attendance is up, people are being saved, baptized and joining the
church but we find ourselves about two weeks behind in our giving for the year. I am asking all
of us to use the month of October to help us “catch up” in our year to date giving. It is my de-
sire for us to not only be “caught up” but to “get ahead” in our year to date budget giving! On
Sunday November 4th
we will invite you to give the most generous offering you can possibly
give. These are tough economic times and you may not have any discretionary income to give
on November 4th
and that is not a problem. We simply ask you to continue being faithful week
in and week out for the glory of God. I believe this will put us in a great position to finish the
year strong and to be ready for an incredible 2013! Thank you for being faithful in all things
pertaining to the Kingdom of God!
I look forward to seeing you Sunday and I will once again be swinging the two-edged sword!
Brother Bobby

I received a text from Bryan on Saturday morning. The skunk was captured! Don’t know about the wayward skunk chil-dren. They had removed the trap on Thursday and then on Tuesday, the skunk reappeared. So the trap was put back out and the smart skunk was trapped on Friday night. Linda and I have a small cottage at Dixon Lake. We have been invaded by scorpions. (we think that is Biblical be-cause there are several scriptures in the Bible about scorpi-ons.) One of our sweet ladies Sandy Greer told us to spray with DEMON, (now that is really getting scriptural) We have sprayed twice. Our best luck has been with glue traps. So far we have trapped seven scorpions (that number is scrip-tural also) . Three in one end of the cottage and four in the other end. Scorpions are nocturnal. Linda read on the inter-net that you could take a black light and shine in a darkened house and you could see the scorpions. She suggested we do that with me going in the house and she would stay in the pick-up in case we needed to make a quick getaway. Our youngest son, Kendall suggested that mom go in the house with the light and I would stay in the pick-up!! I like that idea better. When we return from our Ridgecrest trip, if we have caught any more, we will call in a professional exterminator.
Speaking of Ridgecrest, when you read this newsletter,
we will be enjoying our last day at glorious Ridgecrest. We will make a stop in Pigeon Forge and Memphis on the way home. Pray for our group as we travel.
Our 55 Plus Young @ Heart had a great attendance
and meeting after our “Spectacular Super Summer” Looking forward to our new year! Our next meeting will be on October 17, with Royce Slough, one of our favorite entertainers.
We have a new great grandson in Australia. Kyler (Kye) Andrew Farmer was born on September 16 weighing 8 lb 8 oz. He and his mom were at the hospital only 17 minutes when he made his debut! Be sure and read all the announcements in the PUR-POSE and be a part of everything planned! Bro. Royce
Fall Festival is ALMOST HERE
ON OCTOBER 31, Join Us For a Night of
“Freedom.”
We will have a team of hopefully 20 youth/adults to present the “Freedom” drama. This drama is the tool that God has given Awe Star Ministries to further the name of Jesus Christ. “Freedom” is an 18-minute pantomime that tells the story of God from creation to the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The drama has no speaking parts. Instead, it comes with a voiceover specific to the location of ministry as well as a musical soundtrack written and performed by Mercy Me. We will perform this drama several times that night.

What Is Your Biggest Regret?
“I want to live my life so that my nights
are not full of regrets.”
David Herbert Lawrence
Unfortunately many of us have regrets and relive
them over and over again.
Bronnie Ware, a nurse who worked with people who
were dying has written a new book called “Regrets
of the Dying,” in which she lists the top 5 regrets she
has heard.
1. “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to
myself, not the life others expected of me.”
2. “I wish I didn’t work so hard.”
3. “I wish I’d had the courage to express my feel-
ings.”
4. “I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.”
5. “I wish I had let myself be happier.”
Melissa Johnson listed the top 10 most common re-
grets taken from a recent survey as:
Romantic Regrets (the one that got away or not
investing enough into your marriage)
Relative Regrets (allowing disagreements to sep-
arate us from family)
Education Regrets (not pursuing education or not
applying oneself during school)
Career Regrets (the job that was not taken)
Financial Regrets (bad investments, not saving
enough, spending too much, etc.)
Parenting Regrets (not spending enough time
with children or grandchildren)
Health Regrets (not being able to pursue dreams
later in life due to poor health)
Friendship Regrets (not keeping up with friends
because of disagreements or distance)
Spirituality Regrets (not going to church enough,
violating spiritual values)
Community Regrets (not serving in their own
communities to make a difference)
Occasionally an event comes along that helps us to
face our own mortality along with our ultimate pur-
pose in life and make a decision to live in such a way
that we commit to follow our purpose and do the
right things.
Isaiah had such an experience that he described in
Isaiah chapter 6 begins with the words, “Woe is me
for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips,
and I live among a people of unclean lips; for my
eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts,” and
ends with the words, “Here am I, Send me!” (Isaiah
6:5-8).
The Apostle Paul also had a life changing experience
that caused him to commit to a life of no regrets,
after he met the Lord on the road to Damascus. He
expressed his commitment in Galatians 2:20, “I have
been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who
live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now
live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who
loved me and gave Himself up for me.
”Last Sunday, we got off to a great start as a church
family in “One Month To Live: Thirty Days to a No
Regrets Life.” I hope that everyone will be able to
participate by making a commitment to attend each
Sunday morning worship service, being part of a
group, and reading the materials. There is a devo-
tional book which we have not provided that goes
along with this study. It has the same title as above.
I have downloaded the Kindle version to my Kindle
Fire and I’m reading through the daily devotionals. I
encourage you to do the same.
Share your testimonies with me by email during this
month and let me know how God is using this study
to change your life.
